Once again there are three English Clubs in the semi finals of the Champions League and all three have arrived playing some of the best football of their respective seasons. Under normal circumstances, bookmakers would make an English Club winning the Trophy an 'odds on' bet, but such is the talent of the Barcelona team, that they are finding it difficult to take them on, therefore, it is the Spaniards who are currently favourites to win the most prestigious trophy in European football.Barcelona under coach, Josep Guardiola, have been breaking record after record this season. They have become a goal machine, scoring five times or more in nine matches and have broken the La Liga scoring record in the process with stillseveral games remaining in the season. If Guardiola is the inspiration off the pitch, then it is surely the brilliant Argentinian, Lionel Messi, who is the inspiration on it.Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United might well be officially the best player in the world, but Messi is for many the unofficial version and will undoubtedly claim the crown from Ronaldo later in the year. Messi controls the tempo of the team and it appears that everything he touches turns to gold, whether it be shooting, passing, dribbling or just space making. There has not been one team this season who has found the answer to controlling him and if one is not found soon, then Barcelona may as well be given the trophy now and none of the remaining English sides will fancy facing him or his team mates, particularly Chelsea who face barca in the Semi Finals.Chelsea will be the first of the English teams to take on them in the forthcoming semi final. They play the first leg at Nou Camp and Barcelona have already been installed as odds on favourites to win the leg. Chelsea however, under coach Gus Hiddink are a rejuvenated outfit, with a defence that on its day is second to none. They have players of the calibre of Michael Essien, who they will place on Messi in the same way as he was placed to great affect against Steven Gerard of Liverpool in the quarter final first leg at Anfield where they won convincingly 3-1.If Essien can negate the threat of Messi then Chelsea will be in with a great chance to shock the footballing world, particularly as their key striker, Didier Drogba and key midfielder, Frank Lampard are back to their scoring best.In the other tie, Manchester United will take on old rivals Arsenal in a two leg all English tie that quite frankly could go either way. United, barring a little glitch last month have been the most consistent and efficient team in the Premier League this season, while Arsenal, who have been injury hit have now got back most of their key players and are on a long run of 19 unbeaten games.Whatever the outcomes of both matches, it is fair to say that the best four teams in Europe have all justified their presence and all are extremely capable. However, it looks like Barcelona will justify the faith of the Bookmakers and win the trophy for the third time in their history. However, with five fascinating games to go, including the final in Rome on 27th May their are sure to be plenty or twists and turns and excitement for the fans.

FC Barcelona is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. They are based in the famous Spanish League - La Liga. Without doubt we can say that FC Barcelona is the biggest football club in Spain. FC Barcelona is still the flag bearer of Catalan identity, a fact which is helped by being the biggest football club in that region. FC Barcelona boasts a stadium, Nou Camp which has the highest seating capacity among Europe's premier football clubs. But Barca's success ratio at the Europe's premier football club championship - Champions League is not that great. Barca have won it twice and looks good for a third this season, but by FC Barcelona's standard and quality they should have had more. Among the Europe's football club Real Madrid, AC Milan and Liverpool have had the most number of victories. FC Barcelona started their 2009 Champions League in the qualification stage as they came third among La Liga football clubs. Barca was drawn to face Wisla Krakow in the Qualification - they won the first leg 4-0 but lost the second 1-0. FC Barcelona then was drawn in the Group C in the League phase along with Sporting Lisbon, FC Basel and Shaktar Donetsk. Barca won against Sporting Lisbon at home in their first match in the league with a score line of 3-1. In the second match they defeated Shaktar with two late goals from Lionel Messi. The third match featured FC Basel and Barca resulted in a 5-0 humiliation to the Swiss side. The return leg at Nou Camp resulted in a draw. In the next match Barca won against Sporing Lisbon 5-2. And in the last match of Group stage, FC Barcelona lost to Shaktar 2-3. Lyon was selected to face FC Barcelona in the first knock-out stage. The first leg at Lyon ended with a 1-1 draw with Henry scoring for Barca. In the return leg Barca thrashed Lyon 5-2, with two goals from Henry and one each from Messi, Eto and Keita. FC Barcelona got a tricky quarter final draw with a visit to Bayern in the second leg. But Barca destroyed Bayern 4-0 at Camp Nou with all the goals coming in the first half. Messi scored twice and Eto and Henry scored once for Barca. In the return leg FC Barcelona drew with Bayern 1-1. Now next up in the semis is Chelsea.
Manchester United Captain Gary Neville believes the team is well prepared to win this season Champions League due to the ability and the preparation the team possesses.

Last year the Manchester United was defeated by the AC Milan, but the team players think they can overcome Barcelona and prove they are better suited this new season.

Manchester Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has invested a lot of money in new players after making an exhaustive research he decided to bring Carlos Tevez, Owen Hargreaves as well as the promising couple of Anderson and Nani to the squad.

Actually it was Tevez who scored the goal that marked the victory of Manchester over Roma and sealed the ticket to the semifinals 3-0.

Neville said We have a great chance this season. Once you get to a semi-final anything can happen. We are playing well at the moment and winning games regularly. Last year we were maybe not quite ready. This year we have the players to go all the way. The games and the atmosphere against Barcelona will be brilliant. There will be some great players on show. Both teams like attack. I do not think defense is the priority.

Ferguson could even afford to leave 37-goal Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes on the bench with a crucial Barclays Premier League match against Arsenal to come on Sunday.

Also; Nevilles words echoed into another experienced campaigner Ryan Giggs who was a Nevilles team mate nine years ago when both of them used to play with the Bayern Munich. He agreed with what Neville had to say and also is expecting a great English final in Moscow; since the other two teams involved in the semifinals are the Chelsea who must face Liverpool in the next few weeks.

Giggs also thinks that Manchester has a lot of possibilities of winning over the Barcelona team since this season is not the best for the Spaniard team. He thinks the one who wins is the one who is going to perform better in two legs.

He also thinks that all of the 4 teams that are right now in the semifinals are capable of winning the Champions League this season.

If you are not up for that game you never will be. Both are very good teams. It is whoever performs best over the two legs mentioned Giggs. The four teams left are all capable of winning the Champions League. It is all about what happens on the day. Games against Barcelona are what you want, playing against great teams.

Manchester United set a new record by having 11 straight home victories by defeating Roma last Wednesday.

Following some intense rounds in the Champions League, the best participating teams are still on the quest for a ticket to the coming Knockout Stage, in the straggle for the trophy of the most prestigious football tournament in Europe. With many tension the combats for new points in the 5th match day of the Group Stage starts with half of the groups (E, F, G and H) next Tuesday November 25th.

Trying to obtain a seat in the Knockouts, the Spanish fraction from Villarreal will measure its strength against the Manchester United. On this match the Yellow Submarine Spaniards will search relentlessly the victory to raise their advantage above the Red Devils and become leader of Group E. Without a doubt this wont be an easy chore for Villarreal, since the Manchester has done a good work in the Champions, leading its group, although it owns 8 points as well as Villarreal, with the benefit of 2pts in the goal difference. Therefore United shows very positive about this encounter, although they might not count with their star Cristiano Ronaldo, due to a leg injury.

After not a very favorable season, Aalborg, that now celebrates their triumphs under by the command of the trainer Allan Kuhn, has imposed and now will look for a spot on the next round by confronting Celtic. The Celts hasnt been able to stand out even though they are the present Scottish Premier League champions, currently they are in an unfavorable position at UEFA, due to the fact they have only achieved to score once in the 4 games that have passed on this phase, which makes them lose concentration and motivation. The Celtic players know very well this is their last chance in the competition, so they most try to take it, taking in consideration that football can be very unpredictable.

On the top of the next group (F) is the defending German Bundesliga champion of the 2007/08 season, Bayern Munich, will be able to qualify with just one point, but since they want to keep the lead, they will do all theres possible to defeat Steaua Bucaresti at home. The Romanian club doesnt come along with many winning possibilities, not just in the UEFA League but in the Romanian Liga I, where their weaknesses have started to become visible. Meanwhile to this encounter Bayern arrive as the favorite, thanks to their high level and of course the news around the return of the tremendous midfielder Franck Ribry, who satisfactorily recovered from a injure suffered during their previous match against the Bucharest club.

Lyon, that even with a draw will qualify, its going to meet club Fiorentina at the Italians home, who contrarily to their rival needs above anything a victory to continue in this UEFA challenge. However, the Violas appear quite motivated for the match, following an excellent score on their favor at the Calcio Italiano, while Lyon looks a little disappointed for losing to Paris Saint-Germain and the absence of Anthony Reveillere whos injured and therefore out.

In spite of not having the most solid defense, Arsenal, the English leader of Group G, keeps its positivism to go ahead and fight Dynamo Kyiv, which will wrestle to not lose its opportunity to advance. Although Arsenals performance has been quite bad in their last Barclays Premier League games and has caused them a tumble down to fifth place on the table, for their pending clash with the Swedish rely on their new great player Cesc Fbregas, leaving them in an encouraging situation for the UEFA contest. Meanwhile Dynamo is going to try to repeat the story from 1999/2000 season to obtain the required points to reach the next phase.

Directed by the Spaniard Luis Aragons, Fenerbahce arrives to their penultimate match day of the Group Stage confronting some difficulties in their players panel, from which the majority or at least the main ones are hurt or with cards accumulation, negative fact that affects the teams integrity and puts it in the last position of their group. On this occasion see on the field the FC Porto that also presents some players troubles. By this point the Turkish have a low advantage, for the only thing they can reach with a victory on the encounter is a third place that would allowed them to continue playing but in the UEFA Cup.

For Zenit St. Petersburg will be a decisive clash too, but against Juventus. To stay in the tournament Zenit must defeat La Vecchia Signora that is practically in the Knockouts already and although right now has several players injured, they are high playing level team. The Russians at least have a weight less from their backs, since the Russian Premier League season is over and lets them focus more on the European tour.

The last encounter from the 25th game series, a very important one for the Real Madrid, will take part at Belarus against BATE Borisov; a problem for the Merengues, is that they wont have, like some of the mentioned teams, some of their principal players due to injuries, even yet when BATE isnt considered a real threat.

The 21-22 February will see the 16 remaining teams in the Champions League battle it out for a place in the coveted final held on 17 May in Paris. The second round fixtures have been decided so here is a run down of who is left in the competition and their chances of progressing to the quarter finals:

Inter Milan vs Ajax
Inter qualified comfortably from Group H as winners and have a favourable match against Ajax. The Dutch side qualified as runners up of Group A without too much trouble. Inter are overwhelming favourites to qualify for the quarter finals and striker Adriano, with four goals so far in this competition, poses the main threat. Manchester City.
Verdict: Inter to qualify at 2/5.

AC Milan vs Bayern Munich
Milan stuttered through the first round, with just three wins in six matches, before eventually topping the group ahead of PSV Eindoven. Andriy Shevchenko is the tournament's most dangerous striker with six goals. However, Bayern Munich should not be underestimated. They dumped out Arsenal at this stage last season and were only edged out by a single goal against Chelsea in the quarter finals.
Verdict: AC Milan to qualify at 4/6.

Liverpool vs Benfica
The Reds take on the team who dumped Manchester United out of the Cup and are firm favourites to progress to the quarter finals. Liverpool were unbeaten and hadn't conceded a goal in 11 league and Cup games until Sao Paulo denied them the World Club Championship on 18 December. Benfica's 2-1 win over Manchester United was a shock result, but one they are unlikely to reproduce. Ronald Koeman's side are only sixth in their domestic league and are likely to see their interest in the Champions League come to an end at this stage of the competition.
Verdict: Liverpool to qualify at 4/9.

Barcelona vs Chelsea
This was the most "anticipated" draw in terms of a replay of last season's second phase encounter. Barcelona have won 13 games straight in La Liga, while Chelsea have topped the Premiership since August, losing just one match, against Manchester United, all season. Barcelona have also been unstoppable in Europe, winning five out of the six group. Despite the unquestionable talent at his disposal, Jose Mourinho may find his Chelsea team outgunned this time around.
Verdict: Barcelona to qualify at 5/6.

Lyon vs PSV Eindoven
Lyon are a team not to be underestimated in this season's Champions League and won their group ahead of the glamorous Real Madrid. John Carew is Lyon's top goalscorer with four goals while Juninho has laid on three assists. PSV will have their backers but Lyon remained undefeated in the group stage and should edge this encounter.
Verdict: Lyon to qualify at 1/2.

Villarreal vs Rangers
An upset could be on the cards in this encounter with Rangers a large price to qualify ahead of Spaniards Villarreal. Under-fire Rangers boss Alex McLeish may be ridiculously off-the-pace in the Scottish Premier, but he has got it right in Europe and Rangers have become the first side north of the border to venture this far in the competition. Villarreal scored just three times in six group stage matches.
Verdict: Rangers to qualify at 5/2.

Real Madrid vs Arsenal
This is the first time the two have clashed in Champions League and the bookmakers are having difficulty separating them. The Gunners won their five opening matches in the group stage before an experimental line-up drew 0-0 with Ajax in the final round of fixtures. Real Madrid have plenty of attacking power in their line up but are suspect at the back which could be to Arsenal's advantage.
Verdict: Arsenal to qualify at 10/11.

Juventus vs Werder Bremen
Juventus stormed through the group stage, winning five out of six matches, with David Trezeguet scoring four goals. The "Old Lady" have already beaten and lost to German opposition in the competition this season, with two 2-1 results against giants Bayern Munich in the group stage. Werder Bremen are at their best at home, demonstrated in the 5-1 demolition of Panathinaikos and 4-3 victory over Udinese.
Verdict: Juventus to qualify at 4/11.

The action of the UEFA Champions League -the greatest European football tournament- is back with all the excitement to resolve the knockout stages, in which, defined by a 2-legs direct elimination the teams that managed to survive through the previous stages of the tournament will battle for the precious trophy.

The hunt for the title, currently held by Manchester United, will have 16 clubs in confrontation, in what will be a show of the best rank of football in Europe. Since in fact, from the 16, eleven are in one of the top three positions of their nations' leagues tables (1st places: Bara, Manchester, Inter, Lyon and Porto; in 2nd: Real Madrid, Liver, Juve and Panathinaikos; as 3rd: Chelsea and Sporting).

On this phase will see 2 matches in which all the attention will centre and that will give biggest thrill to the championship, due to the high competitive level between this four excellent groups involved. The first will be the Italian leader from the Inter against the powerful English head, the Manchester United. The other confrontation will be among Real Madrid, that carries a winning streak of 9 victories in La Liga, and its current equal (in the standings of each nation), Liverpool FC, that has lost a little glitter after being divested from the peak of the Premier.

On its part, the Atltico de Madrid, now with Abel Resino as coach, comes as the favorite to win the duels against Porto, that has done a good job and that currently is in a growing chapter that has allowed them to prevail in Portugal. The participation from the Atltico in the Champions has motivated enormously the team as well as Resina, who dream with the glorious triumph.

Barcelona, leader of the Spanish league, will visit the French champion, the Olympique Lyonnais; encounter that will keep the Catalans more busy than usual, to overcome their last two results in Primera Divisin (draw and loss) -especially with the absence of Erik Abidal and Andrs Iniesta.

With the hope of getting back the Brazilian forwards, Cicinho and Juan Silveira, fully recovered from the injuries suffered on Saturday's match for the Calcio, Roma will measure strength with Arsenal, who won't count with the participation of Cesc Fbregas; aspect that has already made them descend several positions, to the point of leaving the top 3 of the English league.

The incorporation of the Dutch trainer Guus Hiddink -consider one of the best around the globe-has given Chelsea the confidence need it to move on. Thanks to the game techniques proposed by Hiddink, the Pensioners feels totally stimulated to meet a Juventus that in spite of playing a leading role in Italy, it certainly has been losing the stability from years before.

Set to achieve the feat of reaching the great final as it did three years ago, Villarreal is going to hunt that opportunity facing Panathinaikos that, due to not having a better development, has been losing options to settle at the apex of the Greek league, leaded by Olympiakos.

To close the list of encounters, another legendary club that manages to compete again in the Champions League, are the Germans from Bayern Munich, which has not been able to win in three of its last four Bundesliga clashes. This time to be capable of moving further, they will have the arduous task of dealing with Sporting de Lisboa, one of the utmost from Portugal.

The Champions League is a competition of football among the various seasonal clubs. UEFA also known as Union of European Football Associations which is the managing body of European football organizes the Champions League. The Football club that wins the Champions League is awarded the most coveted trophy called the European Champion Clubs Cup. The foundation of the Champions League The tournament which was formerly called the European Cup was initiated by a French sports journalist LEquipe in the year 1955. The tournament was rechristened as the UEFA Champions League in 1992-93. This is a seasonal competition where Europes 32 clubs that are considered the best come together to compete in this tournament. The winners of the competition qualify to play against the winning team of South Americas Copa Libertadores for the International Cup. The first team to win the European Cup was Real Madrid CF and ever since they have been winners of the league 8 times. They had consecutive victories from 1955-56 and 1959-60. Why is Champions League so special? The best domestic clubs of every country in Europe who are members of the UEFA are allowed to participate in the tournament. The only country to be barred is Liechtenstein because of the absence of a domestic league in their country. People are in frenzy when they go to watch players like Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronado and several others in action. The Champions League is popular worldwide and is one major event that receives extensive media coverage. In the recent 2008 Champions League that was played in Moscow, for first time ever, the finalists were from the same country. It was Manchester United vs Chelsea and was won by Manchester United. The Game The Champions League is divided into the group stage, the qualifying stage and the knockout stage which has second round, the quarters round, the semis and the finals. The group stage has 4 teams divided into 8 groups. Each team has to play against the other 3 teams to be the qualified as the winner of the group. The knockout round has the first and the second teams of each group which are qualified to play this round. Each team needs to play twice, once at home ground and the other away at each stage till they reach the finals. The decision to fix the venue for the finals is taken by the UEFA two years prior to the main event. The introduction of the group stage helped the teams to understand the game plan and strategies of competing teams. Over the years the number of participating teams has gone up from 8 to 32.

As the 2008-2009 Champions League Tournament begins winding its way to completion, sports fans are tuning in to watch big names battle it out for the Europeans Cup. Thought of as the most prestigious club trophy in football, millions of viewers tune in each year to watch this exciting competition take place. With the championship final set to play out in the spring, the quarter-finals are sure to draw in big numbers. The 2009 tournament is the 54th annual edition of the event throughout Europe. The final is set to be played in Rome in May, and will be the eighth time it is held in Italy. The tournament itself consists of several stages which take many months for teams to rotate through. Throughout the years, the title has been won by 21 different clubs, and 12 of those have won the award more than once. In 2008 Manchester United won the title. Historically, Real Madrid has won the competition the most, with nine championships under their belt. Prize money is even delegated to those teams that make it to the final stages, with the winners taking home a jackpot of 7 million euros, whilst the runners-up pocket 4 million euros. From there, the award money decreases depending on rank and how teams end the tournament. Matches during the Champions League are broadcast outside of Europe, with avid fans watching from more than 70 countries around the world in more than 40 languages. Upwards of 200 million people tune in each year, and the competition is often considered to be one of the most-watched sporting events to air on television. In 2009, exciting matches between the big teams garnered huge crowds watching the game live and at home. Liverpool FC soared to beat Real Madrid 4-0, placing them in the quarter-finals. Arsenal beat Rome to continue on to the quarterfinals after a nail-biting final, which only saw them win after a penalty shoot-out. Barcelona beat Lyon to head to the quarter-finals, after scoring four goals during the first 45 minutes of the match. Other teams to continue out of the first knockout round include Porto, Chelsea, Villarreal and Bayern Munich. Those in the UK can watch the matches on an unprecedented screen and in great quality when choosing HD. High definition television is changing the way we watch our favourite programmes, and sports fans especially are embracing the crisp picture and added benefits of HD. No matter what team you're going for, if you are watching the Champions League on Sky+ HD then it's possible to receive high picture quality. Of course, you may not be capturing the action in all its live glory in the stadiums, but it's possibly the next best thing.

Barcelona are 4/1 favourites to win the Champions League after the final round of fixtures in the group stage was completed, while Rangers became the first Scottish side to make it out of the group stage. However, the biggest talking point was 1999 winners Manchester United's shock exit from the tournament following a miserable 2-1 defeat against Benfica.

Group A
Juventus 15, Bayern Munich 13, Club Brugge 7, Rapid Vienna 0

Both Juventus and Bayern Munich had already qualified for the knockout stage, although the final round of matches decided who finished top of the group. Juventus, the 13/2 third favourites recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over rock bottom Rapid Vienna while Bayern Munich could only muster a 1-1 draw at Club Brugge despite taking a first half lead through Claudio Pizarro.

Bayern, now available at 12/1, face a tough draw in the next round.

Group B
Arsenal 16, Ajax 11, FC Thun 4, Sparta Prague 2

Arsenal are flying in Europe this season and had already secured top spot before a ball had been kicked against Ajax. An experimental Gunners side drew 0-0 with their Dutch opponents, even allowing for Thierry Henry to miss a penalty. Arsene Wenger's side are available at 14/1 while Ajax are a more speculative investment at 66.1.

Group C
Barcelona 16, Werder Bremen 7, Udinese 7, Panathinaikos 4

Udinese suffered Champions League heartbreak when they eventually finished third in the group. They needed a draw to finish second and were four minutes away from holding visitors Barcelona to a goalless draw but late strikes from Santiago Ezquerro and Andres Iniesta handed the Spaniards victory.

Runners up spot went to Werder Bremen who hammered Panathinaikos 5-1 to leave their Greek opponents propping up the rest of the group.

Group D
Villareal 10, Benfica 8, Lille 6, Manchester United 6

Unthinkable when the groups were initially drawn, but Manchester United are out of Europe entirely after finishing bottom of Group D. The Reds were odds on to win in Portugal and even took a five minute lead through Paul Scholes. Two goals before half-time tipped the balance in favour of Benfica and United couldn't produce the equaliser necessary to replace them as group runners up.

In what was the most opening group of the tournament, Villarreal secure top spot with a 1-0 victory over Lille. Long shot fanciers can now back Villarreal at 28/1 and Benfica at 66/1.

Group E
AC Milan 11, PSV Eindoven 10, Schalke 04 8, Fenerbahce 4

A 3-2 victory over Schalke 04 ensured AC Milan finished the group in first place and condemned the Germans to UEFA Cup football, while PSV Eindoven put in a professional performance to beat already-eliminated Fenerbahce to secure a place in the next round.

AC Milan, the winners of the tournament in 2003, are fourth favourites at 10/1 while PSV Eindoven are available at a more generous 50/1.

Group F
Lyon 16, Real Madrid 10, Rosenborg 4, Olympiacos 4

Lyon remained unbeaten and topped the group in style following a 2-1 victory over third placed Rosenborg and have dark-horse credentials at 11/1. The glamorous, but often underachieving Real Madrid now face a stern test against one of the group winners after finishing in the runners up position.

The Spanish giants lost their first game following the sacking of coach Wanderley Luxemburgo, falling 2-1 to Olympiakos, but will still have their supporters at odds of 16/1.

Group G
Liverpool 12, Chelsea 11, Real Betis 7, Anderlecht 3

Liverpool's goalless draw with Chelsea was enough to secure top spot in the group, after beginning their European campaign way back in July against Welsh minnows Total Network Solutions. Despite being the reigning European champions and also having a favourable draw in the next round, the Reds are only 10th favourite out of the remaining 16 teams and can be backed at 16/1.

Chelsea remain second favourites at 11/2 but their runners-up position could see them drawn against Barcelona at this stage of the competition for a second year in a row.

Group H
Inter Milan 13, Rangers 7, Artmedia Bratislava 6, FC Porto 5

Rangers may be struggling domestically, but their battling 1-1 draw against group winners Inter Milan ensured they became the first Scottish club to progress beyond the group stages in Champions League history. However, this feat is reflected in the odds, with the Gers available at a whopping 150/1 to win the tournament outright, with Inter Milan seventh favourites at 14/1.

Artmedia Bratislava's adventure in Europe continues with a place in the UEFA Cup after finishing in third place ahead of 2004's winners FC Porto.

Soccer's North and Central American as well as the Caribbean governing body was looking for something new to bring excitement to the region and apparently they finally found the solution. The CONCACAF worked for a whole year in a project to announce the new image of the regional soccer; the CONCACAF Champions League will officially launch the new continental club championship to start in August 2008.

The new model appears as an attempt to create a world class competition in the area as an answer to the gap between the soccer tournaments around the world. While Europe has its own Champions League, South Africa has the Copa Libertadores and North America has the well known MLS; the Central America and the Caribbean region teams were playing a very basic tournament which undeniable was losing its interest through the years.

The ambitious plan pretends to have 24 teams from all sectors of the CONCACAF region; four teams of United States, Mexico and the Caribbean along with two from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama, plus one team from Belize, Canada and Nicaragua.

With a format consisting in eight teams seeded directly to the first round: two each from the United States and Mexico, and one a piece from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. The other 16 playing home and home series in a preliminary round in late August and early September.

Four groups of four teams will compete in the first round in September and October, with the top two clubs from each group advancing to the knockout phase playing home-and-away elimination matches. The quarterfinals will begin in February '09; semifinals begin in March; and the finals will take place in late April. The champion, to be crowned in April of 2009, will represent CONCACAF at the FIFA Club World Cup 2009 in December.

The CONCACAF Champions League will replace the Champions Cup which will cease to exist after the 2008 edition. The Champions' League is the logical next step for CONCACAF and its member associations" said U.S Soccer President Sunil Gulati, according to him The CONCACAF has started a competition that will quickly grow in recognition and respect; with a spot in the World Club Championship at stake, the teams will take it very seriously.

Hopefully, the new format of the tournament will fulfill the expectations of the soccer players and more important will capture its fans interest. Because expansion is not always a good idea, it needs more organization, a lot more effort and of course a lot of money.

The Texas Longhorns are the type of college football program that reloads rather than rebuilds and for the 2010 season they will strive to prove that they have plenty of new weapons that have been stockpiled in their recruiting arsenal as they have 7 new starters on offense with 5 new starters on defense as they enter the 2010 campaign as a 15-1 choice in college football picks at online sportsbooks to win the national championship in BCS odds. Texas is led by coach Mack Brown, who has turned the tables on Oklahoma and Bob Stoops to become the dominant coach and program of the Big 12. Texas has beaten OU in 4 out of their last 5 match-ups in what is generally known as the "Red River Rivalry" but also realistically the title game for the South Division.

Texas has gone 25-2 straight up in college football odds for the past 2 seasons and lost the BCS title game to Alabama last year 21-37 as 4-point underdogs. They barely made the title game after needing a last second field goal in the Big 12 title game against Nebraska. Nebraska is an interesting part of the Texas equation this year. The Cornhuskers are the chalk to win the Big 12 North in this, their final season in the league, before joining the Big Ten for 2011. Nebraska felt that the refs gave Texas an extra second on the clock to kick that winning field goal last year and their hatred for Texas is well known.

Texas travels to Nebraska for the rematch on October 16th in what is definitely a dangerous game. The UT schedule in fact has two other perilous dates as they will host improving UCLA on September 25th and play Oklahoma the following week. The season finale against Texas A&M may also be a problem heading into BCS odds. Texas has been a major overlay in college football odds with just one profitable season in the last four and just 3 seasons in the black in their last 9 overall. Texas will always have talent but they are also a target and this may be a rougher year than normal in Austin.
