You may be hearing the buzz about it about it, but what exactly is fantasy football?

Well, fantasy football is basically a fantasy sports game where participating players are called owners. These owners belong to a particular arranged competing league. Each of these leagues earn what is dubbed as fantasy points based on existing data and statistics from the real life game of American football; known as the National Football League. The real life data which the professional athletes of the National Football League rack up is important in determining the winner of a fantasy football game.

The players or owners of the league use real life American footballers and they draft these players. The sources of this are the National Football League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Both the National Football League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association are sources of the fantasy players for the owner of a fantasy football team.

The positions to be filled by the owner of a fantasy football team include a running back, a wide receiver, the quarterback, the kicker, the defense and the tight end; a set up similar to real life National Football League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association teams.

Based on real life stats and dependent on the performance of the players, a fantasy football team can garner fantasy points which would reflect to the other football fantasy owners.

For example, a player in the form of a running back gets the much anticipated touchdown, then that running back will earn, in the world of fantasy football, a determined number of points for the owner of the player.

When the season ends, there will be a win-loss tally or record which will set out the league qualifications or fantasy football rankings and this will turn into a playoff bracket.

Just how huge has fantasy football become? Well, most of the football leagues do put aside the weekend of the month of the regular football season for a fantasy football playoff. This playoff will be determinant of the fantasy football league's winner or champion for the season.

The amazing popularity of fantasy football is reflected in the fact that in 2009, twenty seven million players of these enjoyable fantasy football league games rack up nine hours in a week to play! Twenty seven million people enjoy the same fantasy football passion as you!

Watch Soccer UEFA Champions League Barcelona vs Arsenal LIVE STREAM There will be an atmosphere of anticipation at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal meets Barcelona in one of the biggest UEFA Champions League matchups in years. Once the draw revealed the matchup, the excitement from both sets of fans has been steadily increasing. This is hardly surprising considering the way both teams play football which has often been pointed out by fans to be the personification of perfection in the sport. The stable of stars that adorn Barcelona and Arsenal's lineups are also the stuff of fantasy football. Barcelona boast perhaps the best player on the planet currently in the form of Lionel Messi, the Argentine who has scored countless beautiful goals and made many more. The Swedish enigma Zlatan Ibrahimovic partners him in attack and is capable of moments of magic that belies his physical stature. The Catalan club's midfield is dictated by the synchronous symphonic play from the Spanish duo of Iniesta and Xavi who form the perfect axis. Barcelona's defence might be their weakest area but Gerard Pique and Carlos Puyol man the fortress well enough on most occasions.

The Gunners from North London do not pale in comparison. Leading the line would usually be Robin Van Persie but the injured Dutchman's place will go to the equally capable Daniel Bendtner. Working in tandem with him will be the marvelous Andrei Arshavin and Theo Walcott who both ally pace with inventive genius. Pulling the strings in midfield is the much sought after Cesc Fabregas who would be eager to face his former club. Arsenal are also suspect at the back although Sol Campbell will be enjoying his indian summer with the club he rejoined in the transfer window.

Some of these players might be missing from the first leg in England due to injuries. Barcelona will miss the services of Iniesta who has to sit out due to a hamstring strain. His place would surely go to Thierry Henry who will make an emotional return to the club where he spent 8 years of his career at Arsenal.

Arsenal have received the biggest blow to their Champions League hopes with news that playmaker Fabregas would most likely have to miss the first leg. A knee injury suffered in the club's latest match has landed him on the treatment table. Last minute medical treatment could yet see him line up against Barcelona and Fabregas would be keen to pit his talents against the club that many expect him to return to in the near future.

From thefootballgirl.com

Football and relationships can be a dangerous combination. As an avid football fan, as well as serial monogamist, I should know. By my last count, Ive given 13 different women the title of girlfriend since I was old enough to know what that means. And each one had a different way of annoying me when we watched football together, except number 13 who, by no coincidence, now holds the title of Mrs. Wise Guy. Since Ive finally found the Holy Grail of female football watching companionship, I feel Im uniquely qualified to use my vast powers of nitpicky observation for good and hand out some advice to the female readers of this site.

The first thing you should know is that as different as men may be in their knowledge and interest in football, we are remarkably uniform when it comes to spotting an attractive woman (sure, theres controversy around themargins, call it the Kirsten Dunst line). More importantly, we can all agree on who the cool girls are, and whether youre a wife, girlfriend, or out there looking, it behooves you to be football cool. Theres a theory floating around that knowing football can raise a girl up to 2 points on the proverbial 1 to 10 scale, and I completely subscribe to it. For the majority of men, football is our favorite sport, and being able to share that joy with our lady is surpassed only by sex, food, and, perhaps the birth of a child. On the other hand, many women can (both knowingly and unknowingly) ruin the football watching experience for men, which is the first step toward tuning you out in general.

To help maximize your potential to be football cool, Ive broken down women into four categories: the hater, the tolerator, the casual fan, and the knowledgeable fan. Sure, I could do the same for men (for example, pompous guy who tries to correct everyone on rules, the mysogonist, the guy who only cares about fantasy, the dorky guy who pretends to care but only wants to talk about his job , the alcoholic), but thats not the point of article. The point here is to maximize your desirability to men with a few basic insights into our fairly uniform psychology. Do with that power what you will.

The Hater

You do not like football. Except for gymnastics in the Olympics, you can do without sports entirely. Chances are, you grew up in a household with your two sisters and a domineering mother who trained your father to pee sitting down so the toilet would always be clean. Ever since you were tormented by that cheerleader and her dumbass boyfriend in study hall, youve gone out of your way to avoid the jocks. You found a sanctuary in the artsy/theatre clique in high school, and you went to a small liberal arts college that didnt even have a football team. Frankly, I have no idea how you got to this website.

After getting your masters in [something impractical], you took root in the bohemian part of the city and finally started looking for a life partner. One day at a random museum, there he was: cultured, sensitive, philanthropic, and, of course, nerdy cute. You spent a glorious summer together taking day trips, seeing movies, buying used books, and checking out the latest new coffee shops. During an August weekend trip in the Poconos, you declared your love, and you moved in with him the next week. As fall approached, you started secretly checking out Open Houses in the paper.

But then that fateful day came when he ever so meekly declared that he likes to watch the Seahawks on Sundays. And the other good games. And the cherry on top, that he plays fantasy. Ugh. At this point, youre trapped. You love him (not to mention that you sold all your furniture on craigslist), but you never fathomed being with a person that, eek, liked football. You instantly harken back to your childhood and remember all those great tactics that your mom used on your father: take a hard line initially; acquiesce only if he begs and make it seem like youre doing him a favor by letting him watch the games; then, while hes watching the games, ask him to do chores or take out the dog. Sounds like the perfect solution.

Except that its not. Sooner or later, hes going to get away from you for a bachelor party weekend and go all Ed Helms from The Hangover on you. So let him have his 3-9 hours on Sunday. Just leave and find something else to do. It will all be over soon.

Of course, if hes also into college football you should just cut your losses and end the relationship now. Its not going to work out.

The Tolerator

You have about as much interest in football as your "hater" counterpart, but unlike her, you're a natural pleaser. While we appreciate that, you must tread lightly if you want to venture into watching games with us. Being a football tolerator is like being a doctor, your oath is do no harm. First and foremost, this means you have to pay attention to the game. Because football is such a long game, there's a lot of time when fans are talking about other things or just not paying attention. However, during those crucial moments--a fourth down place, a two-minute drill, a game winning field goal--there is nothing more annoying than someone talking.

As a corollary to the pay attention rule, lets say youre looking to spice up your game-watching experience with a little action during halftime. Normally this would qualify you as the coolest football girl ever, but if its, say, halftime of the 2005 Divisional Playoffs, and Steve Smith just torched your secondary for the second deep touchdown of the game going into the half, your man is not going to be in the mood. Know the game situation and the emotional effect it is having on him.

And let me just suggest, if you take the initiative to actually try and learn the game, it could pay huge dividends in the football cool department. There is no stupid question when it comes to football, and we guys get off on displaying knowledge and authority. Just dont ask during a 4th and goal.

The Casual Fan

This is the category most fans fall under, guy or girl. Most likely, you were huge into your college team. But the NFL is not college. Being a college football fan is easy. You just dress up in your schools gear, drink yourself into a stupor, and scream your head off for three hours.

But, lets face it, the NFL has become the place for the sophisticated fan (minus your proverbial cheesehead, Dawg mask, and spiked shoulder pads), and its a minefield for the uninitiated. With all the technological advances and the growing popularity, you cannot escape NFL analysis. Every fan now has an opinion on the game theyre watching, which is cemented by all the talking heads on ESPN, the NFL Network, and the pre and post-game shows. Throw fantasy in the mix, and now youre talking about a sport that has become overwhelming to many fans.

So if your goal is to maximize the football cool, youve got some major learning to do. But you enjoy the game, have a strong rooting interest for your team, and youve come to this site, so youre already halfway there.

Unfortunately, the second half involves work. You need to go to a football-related websites every morning (hmmI wonder which one?) and read the major stories. Watch Sportscenter or another highlight show Sunday night to make sure you know what happened in every game. For most guys, this comes as second nature (because we dont have that many interests), but for women its tougher because theres shoes on zappos to buy, trips to plan, and celebrity gossip to check out. But trust me, get in this habit, and youll be amazed at the dividends. Especially for all the single ladies (all the single ladies!). Just knowing the major storylines and what happened in every game will allow you to hang at any happy hour, dinner party, or corporate boondoggle conversation involving the NFL. If you throw in a little humor by ripping the crappy teams or moronic coaching moves, youll instantly be labeled a cool girl. Youll have so much hand, youll be coming out of your gloves.

However, if you want to make it with the knowledgeable fans outside the singles scene and during the actual games, well then just a cursory knowledge of what happened is not sufficient. You have to know why it happened. Im hardly the authority on why the events of professional football play out like they do. But this much I know: 95% of fans, 80% of announcers, and 30% of coaches (Jim Zorn, Herm Edwards, and Dennis Green come to mind) dont either. You must find the experts. Easiest way: watch Cris Collinsworth on Sunday night because he knows his stuff and breaks down the strategy in football beyond the customary hes playing with a lot of passion out there line you get from most announcers. Also great is the Playbook AFC or NFC shows on the NFL network that breakdown actual game film and show you how formations have a huge effect on how a given play turns out. My personal belief is that knowing the strategy that goes behind football makes watching the games a much more fulfilling experience because you appreciate just what a chess match the game is.

On a more practical level, just knowing a little bit about the strategy behind the game will instantly make you more knowledgeable than almost any guy youre with, and you will immediately begin wowing people with insights without even knowing it. Assuming you take the advice in the next section, youll be about as football cool as they come.

The Knowledgeable Fan

You know the game inside and out. You play fantasy football and kick everyones ass. Everything in this article up to this point was a curiosity, like a college professor sitting in on a high school class. And we guys are simply in awe. But, as Michael Jordan recently showed at his Hall of Fame induction speech, just because youre good at something does not make you likeable or cool. If you have a chip on your shoulder, are combative, or proclaim know-it-all status, people will tolerate you when youre around and make snide remarks behind your back. Now, as a know-it-all myself, Ive become all too familiar with the looks on peoples faces when Ive crossed the line into pompousness. But women who know sports, especially football, they have a certain perspective that Ive only come to appreciate after several blissful seasons with Mrs. Wise Guy.

Other girls it ruin for you. The haters, the tolerators, the casual fans, they all condition guys to believe you dont know anything. You constantly feel like you have to prove yourself and establish your credibility. Ladies, I feel your pain, but simply, you must get over it. The vast majority of guys will instantly recognize you as different and give you the respect you deserve. So have confidence, and dont go on the warpath when you feel disrespected.

By that same token, there is something to male bonding that goes beyond just talking about football. So, please, try your best to not get too annoyed when we regress into those moments. The interplay of busting each others balls, arguing about which celebrity du jour is hotter, or communicating through movie quotes is something that many women have a hard time breaking into, no matter how much you think youre one of the guys. Again, you just have to understand that this is not about you. Its a long game, and that Will Ferrell impression that youve heard for the 120th time will eventually end. And though youre rolling your eyes for the 119th time, if you stay cool, well love you for it.

        The Wise Guy: Dave Emanuelson

Dave bears no resemblance to the Three Stooges or a mobster, but a Wise Guy he is all the same. He boasts an impressive pedigree as a big-time D.C. lawyer, 10-year streak of straight As from sixth grade to his junior year in college, former Division 1 athlete (golf, but still...), and a 82% percent success rate of predicting whether instant replays will be overturned.

Dave never played football, but he's been to two Super Bowls (just the parties), walked the red carpet at the ESPYs, and once rode in an SUV with Brady Quinn. He's currently a two-time defending champion of his fantasy football league.

Despite all its charms and crowd-pulling features, football has oftentimes witnessed violent encounters between the opposing teams. Football is arguably a premier sport in the United States and entire Europe. The present-day football is more fashioned after the English game of rugby, which again is a revised version of the much older game of soccer.

The basic offensive characteristic of football has remained unchanged whatever the variations of the game. Both the players as well as the spectators are passionate about the game and a football match invariably becomes a battle for territorial supremacy and tempers fly.

There are historical evidences to suggest that football matches have led to a lot of public disturbances, unruly scenes and law & order problems. For instance, in Manchester in 1608, football was repeatedly banned because so window panes had been broken.

In 1314 the Lord Mayor of London went to the extent of issuing a proclamation forbidding football within the city due to the public disturbances it caused. King Edward III passed severe laws in 1331 to suppress football, which was sparking violence. At the same time, similar measures to limit playing football were also introduced in France.

During the sixteenth century, football met with a lot of public resentment. The Puritans condemned football as a frivolous and violent sport and complained it disturbed the peace of the Sabbath day. Football had consistently come in for criticisms and banishments for its violent ways, but none of these obstacles came even close to eliminating football from the world scene.

The level of violence within the game and the spectator areas were horrifying. Players of were brutally kicked and punched by opponents from either side. Apart from all personal injures inflicted on players, numerous properties were damaged when a football match tool place.

Fields, fences and hedges suffered worst damages. People's houses and businesses within the main streets near football grounds were vandalized. Early records do mention the violent nature of the game within cities and even deaths were reported in some places. The one saving grace was football was still acceptable as it was considered a useful distraction from heavy drinking and gambling men were otherwise accustomed to.

As a consequence, football has essentially remained rough and violent and disorganized. A change in the attitude to football came about during the beginning of the nineteenth century when school football became popular among the boys - particularly in leading public schools. This proved a turning point. In this new environment, some innovations and refinements to football took place.

The traditional aspects of the game remained but a fair degree of sophistication was imparted to the game. This new approach led to a greater dependence on the players' dribbling skills than the physical might to assault the opponent. All these improvements to football made it possible for the game to be a great entertaining sport and not a violent fistfight.

Football tournaments the world over have a high injury rate among its players. Many prestige football matches are unfortunately violent and sometimes one witnesses ugly scenes. Knee injuries, foot bruises, cartilage and ligament tears have become far too common among all football players. Whatever the criticisms and condemnation, people's love for the game continues unabated.

Some of the new players in the fantasy football world and even the long time players may assume that the phrase "weekly fantasy football contest" may refer to the game or playing fantasy football, drafting, competing for the season etc. What you need to know is there are weekly fantasy football contests you can join in aside from maintaining and playing fantasy football in your own league.

Playing in a weekly fantasy football contest is a type of game which is still part of the fantasy football umbrella. The weekly fantasy football contest may be you choosing to play a game in which you pick the best QB, WR and RB trio to win or you debate on a certain fantasy football issue. These are just side games in the wide world of fantasy football that makes watching football such a popular and fun endeavor. Here are types of weekly fantasy football contests which you can enjoy.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 1: Pro Football Pick'em

This is the most common fantasy football contest. You have an NFL team with a corresponding "+" symbol and a number. This indicates that the particular NFL team is an underdog. A negative number is an indicator of the favorite NFL team. Now, you pick a team to win an NFL game and the score of the team is added or subtracted to the final score and the total determines the winner.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 2: College Football Pick'em

This type of contest is similar to Pro Football Pick'em. The only difference is you are betting on college teams. This is much harder because there are more factors that affect a college team than an NFL team.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 3: Weekly Line Up Challenge

You pick players who you predict will come on top of their specific NFL positions. For this contest you are betting against an "expert." If you get a higher score than the expert, you get a bonus point.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 4: Name a Fantasy Football Team Contest

Think of a creative and catchy fantasy football team name. Entries are voted on by everyone to win.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 5: Survivor, Fantasy Football

Pick the winning team each week. One wrong prediction and you are out of the game, survivor style.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 6: 3 Play Fantasy Football Prediction

Pick the QB, WR and RB who will top the game. The right combination equates a win for you.

Types of Weekly Fantasy Football # 7: Football Debates

Are you good at arguing? Seven judges will determine the better debater in issues that concern fantasy football of course.

Fantasy sports is growing popular everyday.NBA,NFL,NHL and MLC fantasy sports contest are now live at Fantasy Factor. build your fantasy sports team and enter to win real cash daily or weekly!
Article Source

For a long time fantasy football remained a hobby and a pleasant pastime and was mostly played in a non-serious way in sports bars, among friends, in offices and at homes. But the scenario has dramatically changed in recent times and today, fantasy football is a multi-billion dollar industry largely due to the Internet and the numerous websites that have come up specifically for this purpose.

Now there are scores of magazines, game play software, a proliferation of websites, and so many different leagues making fantasy football an exciting and fabulous sport. Of course, the fantasy football continues to be a fantasy game, but the players are real life players and this is the reason why you have to carefully study the real NFL season and keenly observe the players and their performance.
There is nothing complicated about fantasy football and in fact, anyone can play fantasy football, even if he/she does not know much about the sport but has the aptitude and willingness to learn. You are not required to be a fanatical football fan to enjoy playing fantasy football. In fact, there are a lot of people today who simply love fantasy football but have neither an in-depth knowledge nor serious interest in the actual game.

Each fantasy football player is, in a sense, owner of his/her team and drafts an imaginary team but with real-time players before the football season commences. You then score points based on the actual performance of your players in the real games. Your fantasy football team progresses in much the same way as the real football games. When your dream team scores the most points by the end of the football season and comes out with the best win-loss record then you obviously win.

Fantasy football is a sort of format where you choose a team or squad of players from your favorite league and score points every week or weekend depending on the player's performance in real game. You can always apply necessary correctives to your team before the next round of matches using the hindsight knowledge to predict who will perform well.
There are different set of rules for each different league. You must be willing to spend the required time to learn the rules of the league to improve the chances of success in the season. You can opt to play either NFL leagues or NCAA leagues and create your own football dream team that will allow you a chance to win. With a wide variety of options for game play and leagues, you can certainly enjoy the fantasy game and have lot of fun. Fantasy football provides so much of excitement that millions of people indulge in fantasy football every season contributing to its ever increasing popularity.

Historically speaking, fantasy football was the brainchild of Danny Dulac, one of the organizers of the Raiders. Interestingly, he conceived this queer idea and formulated many of the rules when he was on a road trip to the east coast. Today, fantasy football has become a craze with millions of players all around the world.

Fantasy football can be challenging and you can compete with your friends to see just who has the best intuition. Of course, fantasy football becomes an addiction over a period of time but it is a much cheaper and infinitely less destructive than other forms of gambling.

The 2008 Fantasy Football Draft Season is upon us and DraftSharks.com has a few tips for you on your big day. Some of these pointers are specific to this season, while others are good rules to follow in any year.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #1

Last year's stats don't equal this year's stats - This one sounds simple enough, but many people put too much weight on a player's previous season. Just because Kenny Watson finished 2007 as the 19th best RB or Bobby Engram as the 15th best WR does not mean these guys should be drafted among the elite at their positions. Do your research, examine trends, and then determine what each player's value is for this season.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #2

Don't pay for Tom Brady's 2007 season - Brady put together the best season for a QB in the history of the NFL last year. That was last year, though. He would have to repeat those numbers in 2008 to justify his current ADP of 1.06. Don't forget that after throwing for 49 TDs in 2004, Peyton Manning threw just 28 TDs the next year. Brady has a good shot to finish 2008 as fantasy football's #1 QB, but he is not worth a 1st round pick unless your league's scoring system favors QBs. We think there is much more value if you...

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #3

Wait on a QB - While QB is one of the most important positions on the field for NFL franchises, the position is not as crucial in fantasy football. From 2005-2007, the average difference between the #1 QB (a standard league's best starting QB) and the #12 QB (a standard league's worst starting QB) was 7.6 points per game. The average difference over the same time span between the #1 (best starter) and #24 (worst starter) RBs and WRs was 16.3 points per game and 9.4 points per game respectively. In short, because more RBs and WRs are in starting lineups each week, the value of a top RB or WR is much greater than that of an elite QB. Simple supply and demand.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #4

RBBCs have created more RB depth - The dreaded running-back-by-committee has taken the NFL by storm. In 2000, 23 RBs rushed for at least 1,000 yards. Only 17 RBs accomplished that feat last year. Rushing yards aren't disappearing. They are just being distributed to a greater number of RBs. 44 RBs rushed for more than 500 yards in 2007, while just 33 did so in 2000. The rise of the RBBC has led to fewer stud RBs but far more serviceable ones. Consequently, fantasy owners no longer need to grab 2 RBs in the first 3 rounds of their drafts. Don't be afraid to grab 2 of the top-5 WRs and then select a guy like Thomas Jones (current ADP of 4.6) as your 2nd RB.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #5

Gates' value has declined - Up until last year, having Antonio Gates on your team was a huge advantage. He finished as fantasy football's #1 TE in 3 straight seasons (2004-2006). Over that time span, he outscored the #2 TE by an average of 22 points per year and the #12 TE by a whopping 88 points per year. Times have changed, though. Thanks to an influx of talented, young TEs, the position is deeper than ever. Gates didn't even finish as the top TE last season (Jason Witten took that honor). Rather than spending a 3rd round pick on Gates, wait a few rounds and grab a budding star like Kellen Winslow or Chris Cooley.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #6

Worry about weather - When deciding between 2 similar players, take the climate they play in into account. Draft QBs and WRs who play in warm weather or domes. Even the seemingly invincible Tom Brady was held back by blustery conditions in Foxboro last year. Many fantasy football playoff games are lost due to games played in wintry conditions. Don't knock Brady down your cheat sheet because he plays in frigid New England, but start to take weather into account when you get into the middle rounds of your draft.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #7

Draft for upside in the later rounds - Go big or go home! When you are looking for your 4th RB or 5th WR, there is little reason to take a guy like Warrick Dunn or Muhsin Muhammad. Instead, draft a boom or bust type guy (Rashard Mendenhall for example). If he ends up being a bust, you can always drop him if need be. If he pans out though, you'll look like a genius.

Fantasy Football Draft Tips - #8

Wait until the last 2 rounds to draft a K and DEF - There are a couple of reasons for this. First, like QBs, each team in your league likely starts just 1 K and 1 DEF. That means the demand for each position is low. Second, the turnover at these two positions is so great that drafting them is almost a crap shoot. There will always be a K or DEF on the waiver wire that will finish the year in the top-10. Load up on all other positions, and then take a stab at a K and a DEF with your last 2 picks.

Most fantasy owners base their expectations on a player's performance last season. Probably 90% of fantasy owners are guilty of this expectation. There are some players that will produce consistent fantasy numbers regardless of their competition. There are acceptations, such as, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald and other top tier players.

There are a number of factors that will make a player more or less valuable. They are as follows: 1.) their surrounding cast. Is the team that they played on last year different? Has free agency depleted the team's strengths? Is there stability in their offensive line? Teams that have good offensive lines produce quality fantasy players. Solid offensive lines give their quarterbacks time to make decisions. Solid offensive lines allow wide receivers time in running their routes properly. Solid offensive lines open up holes for their running backs. Do they have quality players on their teams that compliment them well? If you draft the only offensive weapon on a team, teams will be game planning on stopping that one offensive threat.
2.) Their offensive scheme. When selecting players you should consider their offensive coordinator. Has the offensive system been successful? Be cautious of drafting a player, regardless of his position, if the offensive coordinator is inserting in a new offense. It is safer to draft players that have been in the same offensive system for at least 3 years.
3.) Their strength of schedule. This is a common mistake that many fantasy owners make, simply because they overlook this stat. This is the single most important stat you should always view BEFORE you draft a player of any position. Try to avoid drafting a player because he had a great season last year without looking at his strength of schedule for this season. The strength of schedule (SOS) is the single most valuable statistic that all fantasy owners should study. Most fantasy magazines do not provide this stat, but if you go to websites like http://www.fftoolbox.com or simply Google strength of schedule, you'll see it is easy to find.
Winning a championship is hard enough. Follow these simple guidelines before drafting guys and it will increase your chances of winning. I have so generously included strength of schedule in this blog. It will cover all positions from quarterback to defensive back. For example, if you are drafting Jamaal Charles, you will see #1. This means that he will have the easiest strength of schedule against the run this season, or any other Kansas City running back. Another example would be Ray Rice. You will see #32 on his strength of schedule. This means that he will face the toughest running defenses based on strength of schedule.

If you are like me, you like to stay one step ahead of your competition. Well my fantasy friends, this will help you. Good Luck!

Strength of schedule is important tool in the arsenal of serious fantasy football drafters. By knowing what players have easier schedules you'll be able to make the hard decisions between two players.

              <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

Every state has its diehard sports fans. From New York to California, we are well aware of the obsessions that take hold of people in good times and in bad when their favorite teams are doing well. When they are doing poorly, well, the true fan stays loyal to their team, but it's often evident that their affinity for following the games and cheering on their teams tends to die down considerably. Still, in a place like Massachusetts, the fans are there through thick and through thin. That's why with a team like the New England Patriots, you can expect the general public to make some serious investments of both cash and time into their continued commitment to their team.

The Patriots, more so than many other professional football teams, represent a beacon of hope and success for the greater New England region. In Massachusetts in particular, where the Red Sox and the Celtics complete the trio of successful professional sports teams, the Pats have established a legacy that endures the hard times and the good. With New York sports teams so close by, the rivalries that have characterized the region are long-standing and undeniable.

For those diehard Patriots fans, supporting their team goes beyond supporting the players and the league for which they play. This loyalty also tends to envelope their patriotism in general, for their state as well as the entirety of the nation. That's why when it comes to watching the games; the best and only way for the true fan to tune in is with high definition television. The quality of the broadcast ensures a superior viewing experience, one that is characterized by crisp and pristine quality, vibrant colors, and comprehensive coverage. This coverage can be seen in the extensive reports, pre and post-game shows, as well as player evaluations that define packages like the NFL Sunday Ticket.

The ticket', as its commonly known, has set itself apart as the leading television package to include all regular season games, pre-season and post-game reports at a level unrivaled by cable television packages. The ticket goes further to indulge the true fan by enabling them to follow up to sixteen of their favorite players through all of their stats during the regular season. For fantasy football lovers, this component adds yet another selling point to the list of advantages specific to them.

With Patriots fans leading the ranks in terms of fan loyalty and commitment to their sports team, the rest of the nation would do themselves well to take cues from their television watching habits. The football lover with a knack for the minor details is guaranteed to find fulfillment in the comprehensive packages that characterize dish networks. No matter where in the country they may reside, the wide-range of choices make for great opportunities to stay up on all the developments in the professional world of sporting events.

I am currently trying to get prepared for the up coming fantasy season. Most publications are talking of changing the old strategy of using you 1st and 2nd round picks on some other position rather than on running back.

I always agreed with these publications are playing fantasy for about three years. It seemed like I was giving up my 2nd round pick on a running back that I would normally select in the 6th round.

Last year I held the 3rd overall pick. I tried a different approach to the draft that resulted in a championship season. I selected Chris Johnson with the 3rd overall pick. Picking that high, I really felt the need and the pressure to select a running back that was going to deliver. Most of the backs that were sitting there on the board were 2nd to 3rd year backs. Remember if there are no risks there are no rewards. My 2nd round pick was on WR Randy Moss. He was the most dominating Wide Out on the board. My 3rd round pick was QB Philip Rivers, he turned out to be a quality QB for me.

My thinking was having a well balanced team. I left draft day feeling that I had drafted a top 5 running back, a top 5 wide out, and a top 5 quarterback. I felt I had a good foundation to build upon. I then was able to fill in the remainder of my roster. I did not feel that I was a really strong team in ones aspect, but weak in other areas.

This season I select 12th overall. I don't feel that the same strategy will work for me. If at all possible you need to have a plan going into the draft, and then a plan that will adjust when the draft changes, because it will.

Good Luck
fantasyendzone@gmail.com

Fantasy Football Cheat Sheets will help guide you through the opening rounds of your fantasy football draft with rankings of the top players based on their scoring potential. It's a way to help out a fantasy football owner when it comes to making the picks in their important fantasy football drafts. Fantasy football cheat sheets are going to tell you which players to select and when you think about it, the draft is the most important part of playing fantasy football.

Fantasy football cheat sheets are created by various magazines and other research materials to make sure that they can make the most out of a fantasy football draft. These fantasy football cheat sheets provide a compiled list of player rankings in a single table for several positions. These kinds of fantasy football cheat sheets are often tough to find and it is not offered by many resources. If it is available, they are good resources to use when evaluating the relative fantasy football value of one position vs. another.

A critical aspect of fantasy football cheat sheets is that they note the scoring system that is used to generate the rankings because the list will completely change from the league scoring system in each league. That's why you don't get comparisons when comparing a cheat sheet based on one scoring system to another one based on a different scoring system. A standard performance scoring system is used as the basis for most fantasy football cheat sheets. However, if you play in a league that is not based on a standard performance scoring system, custom fantasy football cheat sheets can be generated for your particular league setup using certain draft software that you can find online. Using fantasy football sites can help you get fantasy football cheat sheets. You should be able to figure out the top two or three rounds of running backs before making a list of the 10 running backs in the National Football League. Whether you create your own cheat sheet or use the available ones online, there are some things that are rewarding in fantasy football. You can either take other peoples' projections or tweak them to make you own lineup or create one from scratch building rankings from the ground up. Whatever you choose, the best way is still knowing some NFL players, teams, and statistics that will help you win the football fantasy football leagues.

The best thing about fantasy football cheat sheets is raising you league's trophy over your head or cashing out the winnings into your bank. Both of these you can do at www.fantasyfactor.com the home of the one day fantasy league

I make a living by creating (and selling) fantasy football rankings and I have been doing this professionally for 11 years now. What I've discovered is that you'll do a hell of a lot better when you actually have a rationale for your rankings. And the only way you can do that is by creating projections.

Yes, it'll take a lot of thought and research. But when you're done, you'll have a pride of ownership in your work. And my guess is that you'll have a lot of fun doing it. After all, if you play fantasy football, it's for love of the hobby. Doing your own fantasy football rankings and projections should be part of that love!

To help you out, let me offer you a handful of quick tips. Here we go.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #1: Last Year's Stats Don't Equal This Year's Stats. Check out most 2010 fantasy football rankings and you'll see that they look a whole lot like 2009's final player stats. No forward thinking. The guys doing these rankings just figure that players will basically finish as they did in 2009. But the truth is that most of the players who finish in the top-10 in any given year will NOT finish in the top-10 the following year. That is true for nearly every position, every year. As one example, among the top-10 RBs from 2008, only Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Thomas repeated their top-10 performance in 2009. That's a lowly 30%. If you think I'm cherry picking to make a point, please go look for yourself. Research the turnover rate among the fantasy elite from year-to-year. You'll see that more than half the players fail to repeat their elite performance the following year.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #2: Last Year's Stats Don't Equal This Year's Stats but they Make a Good Starting Point. Ok, now that you're ready to purge your player rankings of anyone who finished in the top-10 last year let's slow down. After all, we need some baseline from which we can adjust player projections either upward or downward. The logical place to start is with each player's stat line from 2009. Begin with last year's stats as your baseline and then try to guesstimate as to what will make a player better or worse this year. The remaining 5 tips will help you decide whether a player should be credited with projections that are better or worse than what the finished with in 2009.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #3: For the times they-are-a-changin'. The one factor that will impact how a fantasy player will perform in 2009 is "change." But change has dozens of variables. Here are just a few examples for your consideration: There were 3 NFL head coaching changes and 7 offensive coordinator changes this offseason. How will that impact a player who plays for one of those teams? Will the new coaching staff run more? Pass more?... Did any teams improve their offensive line dramatically? Are there any teams that play a soft schedule vs. run defenses? Every player got a year older... for some young players that means another year of valuable NFL experience. For other older players, that means another year of physical pounding. Free agent signings are always an impact. Some teams lost good players while others added those players. What will be the effect of rookies on any given team? In doing your own 2010 fantasy football projections, it's your job to research and think about these changes.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #4: Load up on Fantasy Football News. You can find loads of free fantasy football news all over the internet. After all, NFL news is a commodity, so you won't have a shortage of places from which to collect and analyze that news. The real trick is not in finding the news. The hard part is to figure out how that news applies to NFL players. More specifically, how will the changes we noted in Tip #3 affect the projections and rankings you have for each player. That's where the real fun begins!

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #5: Read Till Your Eyes Bleed. As you begin to digest the news, you'll start to form opinions about players for the 2010 season. Opinions about some players will be stronger than others. And some of your opinions will be more daring than others. But I would encourage you to dig deeper as you start to formulate your opinions into projections. There is a verse in the Bible that says "iron sharpens iron." If that seems a bit to heady for an article on creating your own 2010 fantasy football projections, here is the point: Search the internet for differing opinions on players. In fact, if you think a particular player is a first-round fantasy bust, or maybe a breakout player you should spend a good deal of time reading opinions about that player that differ from yours. One of two things will happen. You will either change your mind (or at least temper your opinion) which is not a bad thing. Or you will become greater in your original conviction about that player. In other words, you will have a stronger sense of why you love or hate a particular player.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #6: Do Projections for Every Draftable Player. Now that you've done your research and you've put hours of thought into it it's time to commit your opinions to paper. Using a spreadsheet, do projections for every player that you think is draftable. As a rule of thumb, it should be about 250 players for a basic 12-team league. That includes team defenses, but not IDPs. Putting a basic scoring system to the player projections should give you player rankings for each position. Simple enough. If you want to turn those player rankings into a 2010 customized cheat sheet, I can show you how to do that as well.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #7: Gut Check An Exercise in Thinking Outside the Box. As you look at your final projections and rankings, it might make you a little nervous to see some funny looking projections and rankings. Congratulations you did them correctly. You have to think outside the box you gotta zig when everyone else zags to be successful in fantasy football.

I hope you put these tips to good use this year in doing your 2010 fantasy football rankings. Please feel free to drop me a line at info@draftsharks.com and let me know how you made out. Good luck this year!

Now that the NFL Draft is over, fantasy football season can commence. Though players like Chris Johnson and Aaron Rodgers are obvious choices to be among the top fantasy players in the league, there are plenty of other players ready to take the next step into the upper echelon. Here are a few players who are in great shape to make a giant leap forward in 2010.

Jermichael Finley, Tight End, Green Bay Packers. The main reason that Finley is in great shape is because of his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Would anybody be surprised if Rodgers was definitively the best quarterback in the game in two years? Finley is a physical freak who has drawn comparisons to Antonio Gates, which is never a bad thing. In his second season in the NFL, the 6-foot-5, 247-pounder grabbed 55 balls and racked up 676 yards receiving, becoming one of Rodgers' go-to receivers in the process. Though wideouts Greg Jennings and Donald Driver will still command plenty of targets, Finley has the potential to become an elite fantasy tight end, even if he won't directly help the Packers sell a ton of <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.stubhub.com/nfl-tickets/">NFL tickets</a>.

Ryan Mathews, Running Back, San Diego Chargers. Mathews is in the perfect situation. Last season, LaDainian Tomlinson had a rough all-around season and averaged a career-low 3.3 yards per rush, yet still had 12 rushing touchdowns. Mathews isn't the most talented rookie running back but he is in a great position to rush for a bunch of touchdowns due to the talented Chargers offense. If he can get near 1,000 yards rushing, Mathews could be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Julian Edelman, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots. Even though the Pats went out and signed Torry Holt this offseason, Edelman could potentially be in a great position this year. Unfortunately for the Pats, Wes Welker's serious knee injury leaves his future in doubt and Edelman is the likely candidate to replace Welker on the short routes that the Pats offense has lived on over the past few years. In his only start of the season last year, the Pats playoff loss to the Ravens, Edelman had two touchdown catches. Late in a fantasy draft, Edelman is low risk, high reward.

Pierre Garcon, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts. In his second season with the Colts, Garcon had 47 catches and 765 yards in just 14 games. If Anthony Gonzalez can come back from injury after missing the entire 2009 season, Garcon's value clearly goes down. However, it will be tough to give Gonzalez the start across from Reggie Wayne after Garcon was so effective last season. Even if Gonzalez does return, Garcon's speed still requires that he ends up as part of the Colts' attack. Oh, and he has Peyton Manning throwing to him.

Shonn Greene, Running Back, New York Jets. Thomas Jones carried much of the load in 2009 for the Jets, but Greene came on very strong at the end of the regular season and into the playoffs. Tomlinson could definitely steal some goal-line carries but Greene's ability to finish runs will ensure that he gets plenty of opportunities to score. Behind one of the best o-lines in the league, Greene could have a big year in 2010, with or without a big year from LT as well.

Others to look out for:

Heading into the 2010 season, three quarterbacks are in crucial years of their development; at least one should step up and be a viable fantasy option for deeper leagues. Miami QB Chad Henne has a very strong arm and now has Brandon Marshall to throw to. If Marshall can make Kyle Orton look good, why not Henne? Alex Smith is in the best position to succeed so far in his career. After the 49ers addressed offensive line twice in the first round, Smith's protection should improve dramatically and he has Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis to throw the ball to. Matt Leinart is also in a big season his first as the Cardinals starter. Though he lost Anquan Boldin, he still has Larry Fitzgerald to throw to and needs to pull it together to show that he's not the bust that he has been rumored to be.

Though a little less under-the-radar, Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall is in great shape to have a bit year in Pittsburgh. Not having Big Ben as the signal caller will hurt a bit but it could even increase his fantasy value for the immediate future.

Every now and then it looks as if the most enthralling essentials of proficient football is the at the rear side of the scenes transactions as well as the mechanical establishment of that great football team. If you want to know the idea behind Fantasy Foot ball, then here you go with it as both of them are just the same. Here everything is can work according to your fantasy as you can do a lot of things around the way you want them to be, just like in real life. In a fantasy football game you can find players acquire the position and functions of the team owners as well as are prearranged to play in an imaginary or fantasy league.

What happens here is that the players of the teams decide and settle on the results of these fantasy football leagues, which is the names of the real life Manchester team players. Each and every team begins the seas on by acquiring as well as drafting the Manchester team players through auction. What happens here is that you earn points based up on the statistical performance of that particular player who was acquired through the auction. The winners are announced according to the maximum points won at the end of the season. We can find that almost all fantasy football leagues are made up of ten to twelve separate teams.

Fantasy fool ball was discovered in the year 1962 and was spread over by Bill Winkenbach, Bill Tunnel and few others. Sources say that this idea of starting a fantasy football league started during a three-week road trip that had the Raiders stopover the East Coast. The rules and basics of the first Fantasy Football league or the so called Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League (GOPPPL) started there. As internet is ruling the roost these days, Fantasy football has turned out to be more and more famous each day.

The game is so popular among football freaks as well as game experts who see Fantasy football as their favorite hobby and are always behind ways for making it big in these imaginary games. We can even find a lot of magazines, websites as well as books that offer small tips and hints acquire points in fantasy football leagues. We will able to enjoy a lot of information about fantasy football games in Magazines, websites, books, and software that are available in the market these days, these points an and articles help people who are involved in the game to improve their points. On the other hand we find that these fantasy games are having a good effect in educating the actual football game fans. Same way industry sources say that because of Internet the business of a lot of retail industries are going down, when it comes to football industry.

Try comparing the benefits of the various satellite TV packages out there, and you'll find that there are few that come close to the NFL Sunday Ticket. Most premium packages are a let down in some form or another. You'll find movie packages that boast about the quantity or selection of films available, but the always seem to fall short of your expectations. Not so with benefits provided by this popular American football package.

For starters, take a moment to reflect on the quantity of shows that your current cable provider brings to your living room. In terms of ordinary television programming, perhaps the number is reasonably high. Now think about the number of sports games you receive daily. If you go another step and think of the number of professional football games, you'll find that cable can only provide 4 NFL games at the very most any given Sunday during the football season. In contrast, satellite TV provides up to 14 games for you to choose from. How's that for options?

No matter where you're located or what team you're rooting for, the package has something for everyone. Additionally, subscribers can select up to 18 of their favorite players to be tracked regularly. Tracking of your favorite players results in routine Big Play' alerts. You'll be notified of all the important news relevant to your teams, a great benefit for those who participate in fantasy football leagues.

If that wasn't enough, with NFL Sunday Ticket, you can also rest assured with the amount of professional commentary in the form of pre game coverage, news updates, and the NFL network that will keep you thinking football around the clock. The package can easily be categorized as one of the most comprehensive television programming deals on the market. And if you're a big fan like many Americans, you really can't go wrong with this one.

The programming benefits go even further by providing high definition availability for most NFL games. The quality of these broadcasts will leave you speechless. Of course, you won't have a need to speak with the amount of games coming right to your living room television set. It'll remind you of the days when all you cared about was playing football and watching it with the guys. This is seriously a great deal for anyone looking to become an expert in the realm of football knowledge. It's entertainment plus a chance to get close to the details of the game. That can be analyzed literally, in the details that HD technology is able to depict, as well as metaphorically. You'll wonder why you ever had cable in the first place. The truth with most big fans is that they simply aren't aware of just how comprehensive this great TV package is. It meets all the game requirements of any true fans needs, and goes further to provide the news and updates that will keep you on top of your game all year round.

When looking over the Cleveland Browns roster, there is only one guy who I would consider on draft day, Jerome Harrison. He recorded 862 yards averaging 4.4 yards per carry. His longest run for was for a 71 yard touchdown and he recorded 5 touchdowns, yet he only played in 12 games. He seemed to get stronger as the season went on. The browns will more than likely have Brady Quinn at quarterback and will use their running game to take pressure off the young quarterback. The offensive line is a talented group that protects the quarterback well, the question is can they run block?

Harrison could be a potential fantasy star this year, assuming he stays healthy. The team needs to continue to build a wall of an offensive line surrounding that gives Brady Quinn great protection while opening up great holes for Harrison. The job is wide open for him to take. The veteran Jamaal Lewis is likely to step into retirement. This guy could be a quality 2nd or 3rd running back on your fantasy team this season. I would not reach to high for him; he looks like he is a 2nd of 3rd tier running back. He should be a running back to watch this summer; his stock will probably rise to the top 10 running backs in the league due to the fact that he will be an immediate starter.
if you are not dominating your fantasy football league it is obvious; you need to get into the end zone.

Well maybe teams have seen enough of T.O.'s crybaby act. Every where this guy has been there has been division within the team. It goes back as far as San Francisco. The question is will there be anyone who will be interested in his services? Let's take a look back at all the on & off the field controversy he has caused in his career.
San Francisco- He and quarterback Jeff Garcia had words. He was critical of Garcia's play and if I recall, he even went so far as to question things in his personal life. The 49ers let him walk into free agency and they came out to be a better team.
Philadelphia- Then he went to the city of brotherly love looking for a new start. He and Donavan McNabb seemed to start out well, but that relationship soon went sour. T.O. was openly critical of McNabb and I can still remember T.O. following McNabb on the sidelines giving him an earful of who knows what. I remember in San Francisco and Philadelphia scenes where he showed no respect for coaches or coordinators. He would show his disapproval of certain plays and come to the sidelines and yell at coaches or coordinators.
Dallas- Then the cowboy's welcomed him. He seemed to really perform well in their system. However it wasn't long before he slipped back into his old ways. He was critical of how the cowboys were using him & he eventually turned on Tony Romo. He accused Jason Witten of being the favorite target of Romo. Eventually the cowboys grew tired of the same ole song and dance from T.O. They let him walk.
Buffalo- Then he had what many said would be his last chance. Buffalo wasn't exactly the most talented team. He really laid an egg in Buffalo. At times he didn't play with heart due to the fact that they were losing. I saw him play here in Nashville against the Titans, and he would not even run good routes if the play was not designed for him.

The truth is that T.O. is just a waste of talent along with many others. He had the athletic ability to be one of the greatest, but he did not have the heart. He is a lazy and selfish player who can only blame himself for not winning a super bowl, due to the fact that he is not a team player. I think this is probably the end of the road for T.O. I can't see any team signing him. He destroys teams. I know the Baltimore Ravens have a good young group of players and they need a veteran wide receiver with experience, but this is not what they need. They would be better off trading for someone like Anquan Boldin. T.O. will only tear the team apart, or at least that is what history tells us. I think they or any team would be wise to steer clear of this guy.

5 breakout running backs fantasy football owners should watch this year

This blog is a must read for fantasy owners. These guys have breakout potential because their teams have solid offensive lines. Last offseason the New York Jets upgraded their offensive line and the result was the rebirth of Thomas Jones. The following running backs have the chance to be breakout running backs that fantasy football owners should keep in mind. If the teams of these running backs keep their offensive lines in tact or upgrade them through the draft or free agency, they have the chance to produce.

Jerome Harrison- Had 862 yards rushing while averaging 4.4 yards per carry. His longest run was for a 71 yard touchdown and he ended with touchdowns. These stats are based on 12 games. In my fantasy league he average 9.7 points per game. The last three games of the season, he averaged 32.0 points in my fantasy league. The Cleveland browns offensive line only gave up 19 sacks. This doesn't tell us much about their run blocking, but it does tell us that they are a solid unit up front. The browns must build on their offensive line if they want to have a solid ground game.
Jonathan Stewart- He had 1,133 yards rushing while averaging 5.1 yards per carry. His longest run was for a 76 yard touchdown and he ended with 10 touchdowns. He plays on a team that desires to run the ball first. He has a solid offensive line in front of him. The offensive line only gave up 23 sacks last season. Believe it or not DeAngelo Williams makes him a more desired running back. He keeps Stewart well rested. The panthers have relied on their aggressive running game due to Jake Delhomme's inconsistent play at times. He could be a valuable back that could get overlooked come draft day. Breakout alert!
Beanie Wells- Kurt Warner has called it a career. The talented team now looks to Matt Leinart as a leader. Beanie Wells will become his best friend. The cardinals have a solid offensive line up front. They only gave up 24 sacks on the quarterback. Wells had 793 yards rushing while averaging 4.5 yards per carry. His longest run was for 33 yards and he ended with 7 touchdowns. We will really see if he can carry the workload. Leinart is an inexperienced Quarterback who will need to rely on a solid running game that will take pressure off the Quarterback. He will be a make or break pick. I would not feel comfortable spending a high draft pick on him, but if he goes really late in drafts then he is worth that risk. Use CAUTION!
Shonn Greene- He had 540 yards rushing while averaging 5.0 yards per carry in limited playing time. All the signs are pointing to this guy taking the spot of Thomas Jones. He just probably the best year of his career. He also is 31 years old which spells opportunity for Greene. He and Leon Washington will have more touches this season. Due to the age factor of Jones and his 5.0 yard per carry average, this will give Greene some added fantasy value come draft day. Fantasy Football owners are always looking for that unknown back that can really be a factor. This is the guy. He will be overlooked because of the season that Jones had last year. Fantasy owner should be cautious of Jones simply due to his age. All the great running backs in history have broken down when they reach the age of 30. This guy could be the X factor on your team.
Jamaal Charles- He had 1,120 yards rushing while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. That stat
alone tells me that he will be a featured back next season. His longest run was for a 76 yard touchdown and he ended with 7 touchdowns. These stats are based on 12 games. Over the last 6 weeks of the season he averaged 25.8 fantasy points. If the chiefs make efforts to strengthen their offensive line, he could be in for a big season.

I feel like these guys will be valuable come draft time. For a good fantasy football blog that is very helpful go to www.fantasyfootballcalculator.com/blog
