It is interesting news that four out of five English football teams in the UEFA Cup advance to next round after making hard struggle in their respective games this evening. Draws for Rangers (1-1), Tottenham (1-1) and Bolton (0-0) seemed to seal three side place in the last match.

Four out of the five British teams, including all three English teams, left in the UEFA Cup advanced to the next round after doing enough struggle in their respective matches this evening. Draws for Bolton (0-0), Rangers (1-1), and Tottenham (1-1) sealed all three sides places in the last League Round of 16 first legs. Football fanatics had got surprising moments by watching soccer results.

Tottenham, currently ranked as second popular team has got victory in the UEFA Cup, play over Slavia Prague in the match for the second season running. Spurs defeated Slavia in the first round of the match in the 2006/7 season with ratio of 2-0 on aggregate goals. New manager of Spurs, Juande Ramos also supervised his team Sevilla's 4-2 Champions League and got victory over Slavia Prague this season. And, Tottenham will have the intention of emulating north London rivals Arsenal who smacked down the Czech side with score of 7-0 earlier this season. All these matches are showing results in such manners that put audience in state of unconsciousness of what is going on next for soccer live scores.

After a 2-1 win over Slavia Prague, Tottenham are in a top ranked position despite noticing goalkeeper Radek Cerny provide his former football club a slight opening with a blunder of second-half. The firm of Keane (30) and Berbatov (4) puts Spurs in full control. But, Slavia were being managed to get thanks on the scoreboard in part to Cerny, whose mishandling behavior allowed David Strihavka at 69th minute tap-in and in a while may have granted Paul Robinson his first laugh, and maybe some unreliable expectations to go with it. Both teams, Tottenham and Everton are at their best positions at home as most special is Spurs which scoring proficiency enhances 7,000% at White Hart Lane, so getting any unforeseen upsets, both sides are ready for Uefa Cup round of 32 first legs.

Basically, UEFA Champions League is consisted of three qualifying rounds, four knockout rounds and a group stage. In these qualifying round matches, clubs must play two matches to one another in their home grounds and the club getting greater aggregate of goals tends to qualify for the next round.

INTRODUCTION
Chelsea Football Club are a professional English football club based in West London. The team, founded in 1905, play in the Premier League and have spent most of their history in the top tier of English football. Chelsea have been English champions three times, and have won the FA Cup five times, the League Cup four times and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice.

The club had their first major success in 1955, winning the league championship. Chelsea won several cup competitions during the 1960s and 1970s, but after that did not win another major title until 1997. The past decade has been the most successful period in Chelseas history, capped by winning consecutive Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, and reaching their first UEFA Champions League final in 2008.

Chelsea's home is the 42,055 capacity Stamford Bridge football stadium in Fulham, West London, where they have played since their establishment. The club are based just outside the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. In 2003, they were bought by Russian oil magnate Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea's traditional kit colours are royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks. The club crest has been changed several times in attempts to modernize or re-brand; the current crest, featuring a ceremonial lion holding a staff, is a modified version of one first adopted in the 1950s.The club has sustained the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football. Their average home gate for the 200809 season was 41,464, the fifth highest in the Premier League.

BRIEF HISTORY
Chelsea were founded on 14 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook), opposite the present-day main entrance to the ground on Fulham Road, and were elected to the Football League shortly afterwards. The club's early years saw little success; the closest they came to winning a major trophy was reaching the FA Cup final in 1915, where they lost to Sheffield United. Chelsea gained a reputation for signing big-name players and for being entertainers, but made little impact on the English game in the inter-war years.

Former Arsenal and England centre-forward Ted Drake became manager in 1952 and proceeded to modernise the club. He removed the club's Chelsea pensioner crest, improved the youth set-up and training regime, rebuilt the side, and led Chelsea to their first major trophy success the League championship in 195455. The following season saw UEFA create the European Champions' Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started.

The late 1970s and the 1980s were a turbulent period for Chelsea. An ambitious redevelopment of Stamford Bridge threatened the financial stability of the club, star players were sold and the team were relegated. Further problems were caused by a notorious hooligan element among the support, which was to plague the club throughout the decade. In 1982 Chelsea were, at the nadir of their fortunes, acquired by Ken Bates for the nominal sum of 1, although by now the Stamford Bridge freehold had been sold to property developers, meaning the club faced losing their home. On the pitch, the team had fared little better, coming close to relegation to the Third Division for the first time, but in 1983 manager John Neal put together an impressive new team for minimal outlay. Chelsea won the Second Division title in 198384 and established themselves in the top division, before being relegated again in 1988. The club bounced back immediately by winning the Second Division championship in 198889.

In June 2003, Bates sold Chelsea to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich for 140 million, completing what was then the biggest-ever sale of an English football club. Over 100 million was spent on new players, but Ranieri was unable to deliver any trophies, so he was replaced by Portuguese coach Jos Mourinho. Under Mourinho, Chelsea became the fifth English team to win back-to-back league championships since the Second World War (200405 and 200506), in addition to winning an FA Cup (2007) and two League Cups (2005 and 2007). In September 2007 Mourinho was replaced by Avram Grant, who led the club to their first UEFA Champions League final, in which they lost on penalties to Manchester United. Grant was sacked days later and succeeded by Luiz Felipe Scolari in July 2008.

Scolari spent only seven months in the job before being dismissed after a string of poor results. Russia coach Guus Hiddink was appointed caretaker manager until the end of the 200809 season. Chelsea's season ended with a 21 win over Everton in the FA Cup Final. Two days later former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was confirmed as Chelsea's new manager.

HOME GROUND
Chelsea have only ever had one home ground, Stamford Bridge, where they have played since foundation. It was officially opened on 28 April 1877. For the first 28 years of its existence it was used almost exclusively by the London Athletics Club as an arena for athletics meetings and not at all for football. In 1904 the ground was acquired by businessman Gus Mears and his brother Joseph, who had previously acquired additional land (formerly a large market garden) with the aim of staging football matches on the now 12.5 acre (51,000 m) site.

COLOURS AND KIT
Chelsea's kit is currently manufactured by Adidas, which is contracted to supply the club's kit from 2006 to 2011. Their previous kit manufacturer was Umbro. Chelsea's first shirt sponsor was Gulf Air, agreed midway through the 198384 season. Following that, the club were sponsored by Grange Farms, Bai Lin tea and Italian company Simod before a long-term deal was signed with computer manufacturer Commodore International in 1989; Amiga, an off-shoot of Commodore, also appeared on the shirts. Chelsea were subsequently sponsored by Coors beer (199597), Autoglass (19972001) and Emirates Airline (200105). Chelsea's current shirt sponsor is Samsung.

SUPPORTERS
Chelsea have the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football and regularly attract over 40,000 fans to Stamford Bridge; they were the fifth best-supported Premier League team in the 200708 season, with an average gate of 41,673. Chelsea's traditional fanbase comes from working-class parts of West London, such as Hammersmith and Battersea, from wealthier areas like Chelsea and Kensington, and from the Home Counties. In addition to the standard football chants, Chelsea fans sing songs like "Carefree", "Blue is the Colour", "We all follow the Chelsea" (to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory), "Ten Men Went to Mow", "Zigga Zagga", "Hello! Hello!" and the celebratory "Celery", with the latter often resulting in fans ritually throwing celery.

CURRENT PLACE IN PREMIER LEAGUE 2009-10 AND TICKETS
Chelsea with 30 points is at the top of the Premier League table. Chelsea have highest points in the league table. Till now Chelsea have played 12 Matches in Barclays Premier League 2009-10, out of which they won 10 matches and lose just 2.

Chelsea have a large fan base and have millions of fans all over the world and people love to watch their matches live into the play ground. Chelsea fans love to enjoy and experience the thrill during the Chelsea match live in the ground.

The English premier league is at the brink of been handed over to the foreign investors who have been forking out big lump sum of cash to have a share of the most prestigious league in the world today. Statistics have proven that the English premier league is the most watched as well as most expensive in the world (Conn, 1997). The financial statements made by different clubs in Europe in the 21 century warrants attention from business analysts, financial institutions and economic professionals (Shackleton, 2000). The level of borrowings, debts, spending trends and investments quoted in public domain cannot be ignored at all cost. The glaring question is whether the investors have the clubs legacy at heart or their greedy and malicious nature will in the long run leave the face of English premier leagues dented and impoverished.

Some of the notable investment in the recent times include take over of Chelsea by a Russian billionaire, the Manchester united controversy revolving around the investment by the American family, Manchester city by Arab billionaires, the Liverpool controversy and also Blackburn rovers been snatched away from former ardent supporter to an Indian investor.

The clubs revenues have increased over time and the total revenue accrued by the end of 2010 went through the roofs to hit a 2 billion pound mark. The rise of these revenues has raised eyebrows and investors are in a gold rush to leap from this lucrative business. Hence foreigners have been investing very heavily on the English premier league (Glen, 2009).

Because of the investment factor in the English premier the private owners having been capitalizing on the return to capital. The ticket selling is one of the ways which the investors are capitalizing on to get the revenues. In this case the tickets of games have skyrocketed and the funs have to dig deep in their pockets to enjoy leisure of watching football. This has affected the middle class who used to enjoy watching football without budget constraint. Some of the fans who were watching almost all the games played by their clubs at home ground stadium have slashed the times they would appear for live football watching (Baily, 2007).

As indicated by Heinemann (2010), funs have been losing touch with their clubs because the management by the virtue of profit making has taken full control of everything. The funs are no longer the issue when dealing with critical matters like transfers and signing of players. The recent takeover of Manchester untied by glazier family is case in point whereby the selling of former club striker Carlos Tevez had faced mounting opposition from the funs but the club went ahead with the transfer.

After the taking over of Manchester united in 2007 the club has recorded tremendous success with three premier league titles as well a champion league title in a span of 3 years, Chelsea taking over yielded immediate results by wining 3 premier league titles as well as one a carling cup and 2 FA cups since 2005. Unfortunately this has not been the case with Blackburn rovers and Liverpool because their cup thirst is yet to be quenched (Barthold, 2009).

The worth of these investments leaves a lot to be desired the trend has assumed a euphoric drive which might not augur well with business. Manchester united had been recuperating from debts by the time foreign investor was steeping in but has effectively covered the gap. Chelsea was also under siege of debts and poor condition but the arrival of Russian billionaire salvaged the situation. However the risks of investments may be greater than the benefit it might bring forth to the investor (Deloitte, 2008).

Like any form of business football is not insulated from challenges which are caused by things like inflation, recession, and bad seasons. Since football has been commercialized, the risks and benefits must be forthcoming and they remain paramount to thriving and sustainability of business. In this case, it is paramount to gauge the future of football in its present trend of takeovers. Some clubs have benefited from the takeovers whereas others are yet to experience the benefits from foreign investors.

1.1Problem statement

The developments in the English premier league leave a lot to be desired and there have been takeovers from foreign investor. Since the Chelsea football club went in hands of the Russian billionaires there have been flood gate of interests from the foreign investors. In the last five years, they have taken control of the nine top 20 premier league clubs and more so it is yet to be verified whether they will be coming for more share in this prestigious premier league. the most notable takeovers in the recent years are: Manchester city by the Arab investors, Manchester united by united states glazer family, Liverpool by Gillett and hack and then another transfer in 2010, Chelsea by the Russian billionaire and most recently the Blackburn rovers by an Indian investor( Budd & Levermore 2010).

The takeovers have raised eyebrows from the financial analysts and economists and they often try to come to terms with this kind of wild takeovers. The often asked question is the future of this business and its impact to the English premier league. Since it seems as if the business is at the boom it is likely that it might as well bust and the repercussion might not be well premeditated.

This research seek to find out the impact of the foreign investments on the English premier league focusing on the takeovers of Chelsea, Manchester united, Liverpool and Blackburn rovers. The epicenter of the research would be the effects of commercialization of football to the English premier league as well as the future of the premier league.

1.2Purpose of the research

The purpose of this research is examining the impact of the foreign investment on English premier league clubs. Since the trend of taking over of clubs in the English premier has increased over the years, the research will guide me to conclude whether the sweeping euphoria is for the good or bad. This will help me to establish whether football in England has turned to be more of a business rather than enjoyment.

The research also helps to evaluate how the foreign factor has been affecting the relationships of the club and their funs and also give account of how helpful or damaging these takeovers have turned to be on the communities. In this case the research will be geared to reveal whether the investors have sacrificed the fans at the expense of the profit making motives. In addition, it will help to gauge how the communities around the clubs have been benefiting either through direct employment or direct funding to the community events.

As always, the English Premier League is going to be a fantastic watch this season. Key fixtures involving top sides Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool sell out like hot cakes. English football enjoys a significant international reputation, thanks to the success of the Premier League and the scale of sponsorship it attracts. In 1992 the leading clubs in England's Football league decided to break away from the 1st division, and the Premier League was formed.

The 1980's was a low point in English football history, with hooliganism and a lack of investment in facilities contributing to the hard times faced by clubs Added to this, English teams were banned from European competitions after the tragic events at the Heysel stadium when riots by English fans led to 39 deaths. Following the Hillsborough tragedy, all football clubs in England were required to make their grounds all-seated, at significant cost.

Realising that they could not meet these costs alone, the top ten clubs broke away from the Football league and sold TV rights to Sky. The new league was very popular, despite fans having to pay to watch their teams on TV, and the move created enormous wealth. The new league was very popular with fans, despite having to pay to watch their team on TV for the first time, and significant financial rewards were reaped by all involved. Carling, Barclaycard and Barclays Bank have all sponsored the competition.

Having broken away to make more money as valuable commodities, the Premier League clubs are now criticised for spending so much on their players. With more money available following the formation of the new league, clubs are now criticised for spending too much on their players. Clubs invest significant sums in transfer fees and wages for the best players, making football an expensive business. Several clubs have struggled with finance and in February 2010 Portsmouth went into administration. Not all clubs have been successful in the finance stakes, and in February 2010, Portsmouth FC went into administration.

The League's most successful club is Manchester United, under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson. Always a top three finisher, Manchester United have won the Premier League 11 times. Last season however, Chelsea won through to beat them in a dramatic Premier League final. In a dramatic finale to last year's championship, Chelsea overcame a strong United challenge to win the league.

Defending their title against all their old adversaries, the spotlight is now on Chelsea. Can Chelsea defend their title against their old adversaries? Chelsea vs Manchester United tickets will be in great demand. Everything is at stake and anything could happen at this early stage in the competition. All is to play for and an upset could be significant at this early stage of the competition. The entertainment value of the Premier League provides excitement, heated discussions and high emotions for months on end. The Premier League provides great entertainment for months on end, with heated discussions and high emotions keeping fans excited. The antics of the players and managers, both on and off the pitch, keep everyone entertained. There is much enjoyment to be had, watching the antics of the players and managers, both on and off the pitch.

But nothing can beat the thrill of being at a world class Premier League match, watching the best teams, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool, demonstrating the art of the beautiful game. Nothing can compare with the thrill of watching world class players, in the best teams, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool, demonstrating the art of the beautiful game in the Premiership. Make sure you don't miss out on tickets to big matches such as Manchester United vs Chelsea or Liverpool vs Arsenal. Get your hands on the tickets for the big matches such as Liverpool vs Arsenal and Manchester United vs Chelsea.

Futbol Club Barcelona (Catalan pronunciation): Spanish (often known simply as Barcelona) and familiarly as Bara (Catalan), is a Spanish professional football club, based in Barcelona, Spain. They play in La Liga, and is one of the only three clubs to have never been relegated, along with Athletic Bilbao and rival Real Madrid. They are the current Spanish and European football champions. They won Champions League four times:Recently in 2006,2009,2011

The tournament,Champions League, was inaugurated in 1955, at the suggestion of the French sports journalist and editor of L'quipe Gabriel Hanot,[5] who conceived the idea after receiving reports from his journalists over the highly successful Campeonato Sudamericano de Campeones of 1948.[6] As a reaction to a declaration by the British press on the part of Wolverhampton Wanderers being "Champions of the World" after a successful run of European friendlies in the 1950s, Hanot finally managed to convince UEFA to put into practice a continent-wide tournament. The tournament was conceived as a competition for winners of the European national football leagues, as the European Champion Clubs' Cup, abbreviated to European Cup.

The competition began as the 195556 using a two-leg knockout format where the teams would play two matches, one at home and one away, and the team with the highest overall score qualifying for the next round of the competition. Until 1992, entry was restricted to the teams that won their national league championships, plus the current European Cup holder. In the 199293 season, the format was changed to include a group stage and the tournament was renamed the UEFA Champions League. There have since been numerous changes to eligibility for the competition, the number of qualifying rounds and the group structure. In 199798, eligibility was expanded to include the runners-up from some countries according to UEFA's coefficient ranking list. The qualification system has been restructured so that national champions from lower ranked countries have to take part in one or more qualifying rounds before the group stages, while runners-up from higher ranked countries enter in later rounds. Up to four clubs from the top-ranked countries are currently given entry to the competition.

Between 1960 and 2004, the winner of the tournament qualified for the now defunct Intercontinental Cup against the winner of the Copa Libertadores of South America. Since then, the winner automatically qualifies for the FIFA-organised Club World Cup with other winners of continental club championships.

The UEFA Champions League is a cup competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 1955 for the top football clubs in Europe. It is widely considered to be the most prestigious football club competition in the world.[1][2] The final of the competition is the most watched annual sporting event worldwide, drawing just over 100 million television viewers.

Prior to 1992, the tournament was officially called the European Champion Clubs' Cup but was usually referred to as simply the European Cup. The competition was initially a straight knockout competition open only to the champion club of each country. During the 1990s the tournament began to be expanded, incorporating a round-robin group phase and more teams. Europe's strongest national leagues now provide up to four teams each for the competition. The UEFA Champions League should not be confused with the UEFA Europa League, formerly known as the UEFA Cup.

Scottish Premier League (SPL) is a professional league competition for football clubs of the prime level in the Scottish football league system. It holds the tenth position in the UEFA rankings of European League. This position in the European league depends on the performance of member clubs in the European competitions. The current champion of the SPL title is Celtic.

In 1998, the football clubs in the Premier Division decided to separate from the Scottish Football League and to create the Scottish Premier League to get the maximum share of the league sponsorship money. The 12 clubs that now play in the leagues are Aberdeen FC, Celtic FC, Dundee United FC, Falkirk Gretna Heart of Midlothian FC, Hibernian FC, Inverness CT, Kilmarnock FC, Motherwell FC, Rangers FC, and St. Mirren.

These clubs of Scottish Premier League have largely continued to be on their own rules. Aberdeen got their third dressing kit, which reminds that they were called once as The Wasps, whereas the Falkirk's new home kit honors their Scottish Cup win of 1957.

People usually refer the Premier League as the Barclays Premier League for certain financial reasons. The league is the nation's major football championship. Twenty clubs play in this League, and SPL is one prime member of this championship.

For Fans of SPL:

The ideal way to know the venues and scores of SPL is to browse through the extremely interactive and high-speed web site or sports blog of SPL. This official web site tells about everything that a fan might ask in respect of SPL events and schedules, whereas the sports blog provides the opportunity for the visitors to blog.

The site also offers betting facilities for the online gamblers. They can bet on their favorite clubs in the League or purchase their favorite team's products online. Merchandise arrays anywhere from charming women's outfit decorated with the team symbol or a heavy jersey of men's with the team's cap.

With the fame of the innovative SPL, the League chairperson Lex gold, has suggested for a SPL too. However, this idea seems to be unpopular among the fans of both Scottish football League and SPL.

The Premier league is officially the Barclays Premier League for sponsorship reasons. It is a British professional league for football clubs.

Twenty clubs contest in this league. Seasons run from August to May. All teams play 38 games each.

The competition started as the FA Premier league on 20 February 1992. The first game took place on 15 august that year. Some clubs in the Football League First Division decided to break away from the Football League to take advantage of a profitable television right contract.

The Football League has been holding the primary football competition of England and Wales since 1888. Since then, the Premier League became the most followed sporting league.

It is the most well paid football league. In 2005-06, the combined club revenue was around $1.4 billion. It may rise to $1.8 billion in 2007-08 due to the rising media revenues.

Only four out of the 40 clubs have won the premier league title. They are the Arsenals, Blackburn rovers, Chelsea and Manchester united. The present champion of this league is Manchester United. They won the ninth title in 2006-07. No team has ever won the title for this number of times.

The English Premier League:

It is a series of organized leagues for football clubs in England. However, a small number of Welsh clubs also compete in English Premier League due to historical reasons.

There are about 140 leagues containing about 480 divisions. The system has an ordered layout for promotion and delegation among the leagues at different levels.

The exact number of clubs varies every year. The clubs join, leave, or merge to form new teams. However, there is an estimated average of 15 clubs per division. This means that over 7000 clubs are members of a league in the English Premier league.

Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. The total points and goal differences decide the ranks of the teams. At the end of the season, the club with the highest point is the champion. The goal difference and the goals scored, decide the winner if teams have equal points.

When football fans around the world saw that three of the four semi-finalists in last Champions League were from England, they realized why English Premier League was regarded as, not one of the best, but THE BEST in the world of football. Though the eventual champions were not one of those English teams, football fans around the world were left in no doubt as to which football league dominated the world of football.
English Premier League has been host to many football greats, both from within England and outside. Football stars from Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain and many other nations have graced the stage of English Premier League. More recently however, more foreign stars have been found leaving English Premier League than joining it. Here I look at the last few transfer windows and try to tell you how the exodus of the number of stars has exceeded the number of incoming stars into the English Premier League.

After the Italians lifted the football World Cup trophy, people were expecting quite a few number of World Cup stars to join the English Premier League for the huge revenue it offered. However, none of those Italian footballers eventually came to the Premier League. During the last few Premier League transfer windows, names such as Ronaldinho, Riquelme, Adriano, Villa and many others were tipped to come to England. Again the end result was that these players were not ready to leave Spain and Italy.

In 2006 Ruud van Nistelrooy, a success story with Manchester united switched to a mediterranean climate when he joined Real Madrid of Spain as the biggest signing of the transfer window. Along with Van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben of Chelsea and Gabrielle Heinze of Manchester United also left the premier league for the Spanish city of Madrid for Real Madrid football club.

During this years transfer window, Christiano Ronaldo, probably the greatest striker Manchester united has ever produced, said bye bye to English Premier League. Once again, his destination was not at all surprising, real Madrid of Spain

Thierry henry, at the peak of his game at arsenal, left the English Premier League for Barcelona. Henry however, does open the admit that were it not for the arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and a great platform for football like English Premier League, he would never have been the player he is today.

Peep into various types of jobs in football

Variety of jobs in football is very wide. Including football vacancies like High School Football Coaching jobs, the game of football offers several career options. In this article, I will also put some light on the scope of High School Football Coaching jobs in UK.

Discussing about various jobs in football, I think we must begin with coaches' jobs in football. It is one of the basic jobs in football. Every team in fact every player needs coach for getting trained. As the game of football is gaining popularity among children from school time, school management committees are arranging training programmes for students on school level and thus the number of High School Football Coaching jobs is increasing day by day. These football vacancies offer a great scope for people who want to make career in football. If you think coaching on school level is not your cup of tea, you can opt for passing certain professional courses and become an official football coach. Second category of jobs in football which I am going to discuss about now is of football scouting. One of the best methods to get into football jobs is to opt for scouting jobs in football. As a football scout you need to judge the talent of football players by observing a football match. A scout is hired by a football club so that most talented player can be signed for playing officially for that very club only.

Football fans also love game promotions. If you are innovative enough, you can take up promoting jobs in football. There are various football vacancies available in this category but this place is for creative people only. If you can think of interesting ways to attract football goers through advertising and other marketing options, promotion jobs in football are the best for you. Other than marketing or so to say football promoting football vacancies, merchandising jobs in football are also very interesting.
About four years back, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) rejuvenated the Premier League that was first won by FC Kallon. However, even the FA and football clubs knew at that time that the league was nowhere premier. It was only a few years after the war came to an end, most of the countrys football talent had left the country and professional leagues had been non-existent for some time.
But as the league progressed, some positive fruits were being yielded as two years ago Sierra Leone had something to smile about when FC Kallon and Ports Authority made some encouraging impact on the continents two prestigious competitions; the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. The following year, there was another setback that saw the SLFA failing to meet the CAF deadline in submitting the qualifying teams for the CAF competitions. At the end, club football suffered another setback as the country missed out on another important chance to augment confidence in the game; Sierra Leonean clubs were not part of any club competition last season.
At the start of this year it seems as if another impasse was in the air as a protracted delay to the start of another Premiership season was about to cripple the progress of the game once more. Previous sponsor, Africell, refused to sponsor the league on the pretext that the deal was not yielding any dividend for them as the National Stadium was decorated with the blue and white colour and logo of a rival company, Comium.
On the other hand, Comium was refusing to give a package exceeding 80 Million Leones for the Premiership sponsorship claiming that they had a contract with the Stadium Management to advertise at the National Stadium for the next four years. Comium did not budge in, so at the end they were forced to make a joint sponsorship deal that saw four other companies combining with Comium to sponsor the league.
The result of that standoff was that since time was not enough for the league to meet CAFs deadline to register the clubs for continental competitions. The Premier League Board and teams decided to consent to only one leg games to be played.
So teams in this season league will not be playing home and away, they will only play one-legged ties. At first this arrangement was questioned by some who queried the rationale of playing such a seemingly easy mode in the top league. But who wants to miss the vital continental competitions? No one, so the clubs welcomed it.
Nevertheless, a league that started in somehow chaotic and bleak circumstances this season is surprisingly taking a huge momentum that has not been seen for decades. The crowds are returning, it is surprising to note that amidst all the negative publicity the game of football had been getting after the acrimonious outcome of last years SLFA presidential elections and the bitter fall out, many Sierra Leoneans are proudly turning out to watch their local teams play.
At a recent match between FC Kallon and Mighty Blackpool, the atmosphere was so charged, that I must confess I had not witnessed that scene at the National Stadium for a very long time. The main bowl arena was almost filled and the atmosphere fitting for a top league competition, although the match ended in a 0-0 draw there was much drama in the match to keep the fans alive up to ninety minutes.
Matches have not only been drawing huge crowds, but has also been creating talking point across the nation, recently when table-toppers, East End Lions met with Ports Authority in a capacity filled crowd at the National Stadium, there was much discussion everywhere as to whether Premiership top scorer (EE Lions Mohamed Drogba Kabia) disallowed goal was a fair decision. But amidst this rising euphoria, has the level and quality of players improved? That was the question I put to new SLFA spokesperson, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay who said he surely thinks there has been an improvement in the quality of the game as indicated by the very tight matches we have been getting and the minimal points secured by the top teams.
Mohamed Drogba Kabia, the current top scorer in the league told Sierra Eye that he believes the league has improved and there is a very tough competition in all matches being played this season because everyone is aware that there could be no second chance, as there are only one-legged ties to be played. There is no second chance, that I believe has instilled a tough competitive spirit in us, said Mohamed Drogba.
However, Abdul Rahman Swarray, a renowned sport analyst and SLAJ Vice President thinks that there is dearth of quality players in the league and that he said is visible in the lack of quality plays and goals scored in the league. Swarray recommended that there should be a new approach by local clubs in grooming new breeds of young players to fill the current void in the nations top league.
Osman Mala Sesay, a striker for Mount Aureol Galaxy acknowledged that there is a drop in the level of quality players but he said that is not the only problem. Pointing out that there is also lack of incentives in the past that tend to lower the moral of players in giving 100% to the game. There were incidents in the past when players have been injured and clubs had failed to adequately offer medical advice, so that has a negative effect on the mindset of players. But now its quite different as we are not only paid monthly but also given necessary medical care when needed, I am currently injured, but Im happy to be receiving medical care, said Osman.
East End Lions Welfare Officer, Alimamy Kamara is of the belief that progress has been made by clubs and the new Premier League Board; Now most teams have been paying their players and seeking their wellbeing, we are optimistic that as the majority of fans continue to return the league can progress and local football will once more be the main focus in every corner of the country as it once was, said Kamara.
For this current league each club received about Le 4 million, from the Premier League Board at the start, and in addition to that there is also the daily gate taking income and variety of sponsorship deals some clubs have begun to enter with some companies. Nevertheless, incomes generated by many clubs are still very low and most clubs are bankrolled by private citizens who used their personal money to sponsor clubs, however, if Sierra Leone football is to progress clubs should seek more dynamic and dependable ways of securing sponsorship to enhance the level of the game.
Recently, the Premier League Board spokesperson, Durosimi Thomos told CTN Sport that clubs should not rely solely on the Board and the FA for financial support, he called on clubs to search for new ways to solicit funding. He admonished clubs to be self sufficient and said that at the top flight of football they are not expecting any group of people to just come up with what he referred to as Cassava Leaves United and expect the football authorities to bankroll them.
The positive thing about this years league is that there have been positive tangible changes in the league such as improvements in the stadium facilities, enhanced securities for players and match officials. A comprehensive gate taking sharing agreement that saw clubs getting around 40% each from each match, perhaps the best changes has been the time adjustments that now have a flexible fixture time list for premiership matches that dont collide with those of international fixtures, such as the English Premier League. So now most games play at 7 pm local time, and that means that many football lovers can afford to watch their favourite English premiership matches and in the evening go to their local premiership matches.
I was very delighted when I learnt that the time for the matches has been shifted to avoid clash with the English premiership matches, as a Manchester United fan I would find it very hard to sacrifice watching United just to watch my local team Ports Authority play. However, now I can afford to watch both at different times, said Hashimi Savage.
Another key to the heightened public interest has been the high media focus on the league, We are very impressed with some of the radio stations and newspaper houses constant coverage of the league, what impresses me most is the post match report and pre match preview most of the radio stations do, that I think has brought the league to the doorsteps of the majority of Sierra Leoneans, there is now relatively less talk of European football and more and more sport programmes now focus on local sports, said Chernoh Musa, FC Kallon Assistant Manager.
Who has the credit for some of the conspicuous changes that have been made? According to a radio football analyst, Abdul Fofanah, the new the Premier League Board has created the groundwork for a very effective league structure that is now yielding some positive results.
At the historic inauguration of the Premier League Board some few months ago, the Chairman of the Board, former Minister of Labour and Industrial Estate, Alpha Timbo promised they will work earnestly to ensure they upgrade the level of the nations top league and now it seems as if they are living up to that promise. That has seen them getting the praises of even the fans; A board with Mr. Alpha Timbo as its head and people like Isha Tejan Cole, Isaac Massaquoi, Durosimi Thomos and Saidu Mansaray, who know and have passion for the game coupled with the business oriented acumen of Bah, I believe the FA this year will record an even more remarkable success next year if they are allowed to continue their good work, said Ibrahim Jabbie, a staunch Central Parade fan.
Notwithstanding some of these progresses, there are still huge challenges that need to be sorted out. Venues in the provinces are in a very deplorable state; the pitches at Magburuka and Kono have been the subject of much complains by teams travelling up provinces, others have also complained about an apparent lack of security in the provinces. Some have called for the Board to set up a standard of approval for all Premier League venues across the country. Also, at a time when there have been several controversies surrounding referee decisions a number of teams have questioned the qualifications and competence of match officials, however SLFA recently announced that it will use some of the money received from CAF for TV Rights to train referees nationwide.
Critics have also highlighted the dishonourable status of the presidential stands which has been accessed by many supporters free of charge who confront each other and sometimes rain motherly invectives at each other in a place that is suppose to be reserved for respectful people. Some fear that this will drive away some dignitaries who will stay away from matches as a result of these shameful activities.
The thorniest issue the Premier League Board has to deal with is the many disputes that has arisen for the past few seasons about player registration, there are frequent complains and official protests lodged from different teams about players whom they alleged were their players but now playing for other teams. Critics have accused the Appeals Committee as too slow in taking actions about complaints, nonetheless, the problems is that the FA has not set clear rules and penalties surrounding registrations of players and until that is done, the problem will hardly be solved.
But for now it is business as usual as Sierra Leone tries desperately to create a sense of normalcy in local football, the good news also is that most former players are returning and taking up coaching and technical advisory roles in the various teams, former Leone Stars captain Abubakarr Tostao, Ahmed Kanu, and Agina are among the cadre of former stars that are coaching Ports Authority, FC Kallon and EE Lions respectively. The hope is that increasing press coverage and huge crowds will lure businesses to put more money in the Premier League, if that money comes in then there is no doubt that Sierra Leone football will take a slow but positive step forward.

English Premier League was founded in 1992 and will complete its 17th seasons as, of the end of the 200809 seasons. Seasons run from August to May. All teams play 38 games each. The league held its first season in 199293. Initially there were 22 teams in the league, however it was the intention since the inception to cut that back to 20 and as of now that is how many there are. The first ever Premier League goal was scored by Brian Deane of Sheffield United in a 21 win against Manchester United. The English Premier League is without a doubt, the most lucrative football league in the world. The Premier League clubs are among the richest in the world. The Premier League is operated as a corporation and is owned by the 20 member clubs. The premier League is an English professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the English football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. The English Premier League has become the world's most watched sporting league. The English Premier League currently has some of the worlds most famous players and oldest clubs. According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), the English Premier League is the top football league in the world for the second consecutive year.

Three of the final four teams in the Champions League semi-finals are from the EPL, and it has been like that the last 3 years. EPL is the strongest and most sought after club league in the world. The English top flight is a massive worldwide product that is ever increasingly difficult to quantify. 42 clubs have graced the top flight since the breakout of the Premier League of which only 11 of the 42 have managed a top 4 finish in 16 years. 4 clubs have won the title in the 16 seasons of competition. 15 of the 16 titles have been won by Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea. The present champion of this league is Manchester United. They won the ninth title in 2006-07. No team has ever won the title for this number of times. The top English clubs are now massive sports franchises that dominate the global game. Top players are lured to the Premier league by riches that no other league can rival. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have consistently occupied the top four positions with complete domination in four of the past five seasons with the sides taking the top places on 19 out of 20 opportunities. Each of the clubs in the league is considered to be a part owner in the league. The league continues to grow and become a force in the world of football. The top four teams qualified in the Premiership graduated and now play in UEFA Championship League

The 2008/09 season has given us one of the best and closest starts to a season in many years. Liverpool has begun to prove them as a consistent force. Last weekends 2-1 win to Arsenal has well and truly brought them back into calculations, even at this early stage in the Premier League season. With Manchester United expected to win their game in hand, it brings the big 4 that much closer together.

As of 2008, it was ranked as the highest grossing league with La Liga, Spain and Serie A, Italy trailing behind. The Premier League will continue to dominate world football for years to come. Through hard work and effort the Premier League was able to rise to the top. England's most improved club Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. the English Premier League Tickets is considered as the planet's most popular and most-viewed professional football league, and is seen across the globe by an estimated half a billion people.
Soccer Branding: The Story of European Soccer in Nigeria

By Eric Okeke

European soccer is making a very impact in Nigeria, captivating the minds and attention of soccer buffs, the young, and the young at heart, affecting the way Nigerians relax and unwind, and throwing up business opportunities for smart entrepreneurs.

And the story of this soccer brand is that of club support, fun, entertainment, gambling, and business in Nigeria, though the game is played thousands of kilometres away. For Nigerians, soccer is the game and entertainment; football clubs and players are the brands; while viewing the matches is the business.

The big brands of European soccer making waves in Nigeria are, The UEFA Championships, and English Premier League. Whenever teams in these competitions engage themselves in competitive soccer for a cup, Nigerian fans are held spellbound. It is as if the match is being played In Nigeria.

Some fans are strong in their support of the clubs they love. Come and see the campaigns in Nigeria for these clubs before any crucial match. Sometimes, it is fanatical. And in many cases, it results in brawls and big fights between supporters of different European clubs.

The support of clubs sometimes goes beyond the ordinary. At times, emotions run high. The big names are Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and others. For these football clubs, their images loom large in Nigeria, and they command large followership of fans that are even prepared to trade blows, fight, or engage in heated arguments in support of their clubs. The impact of European soccer in Nigeria is so intense that it is shaping the way soccer fans relax and unwind amidst fun, food and drinks.

Two European clubs that the largest crowd of supporters in Nigeria are Manchester United (Man U) and Chelsea. And the curious observer of the profile of these supporters will see clear distinctions or stratification in terms of social class, education, and income power. How?

Man U has captivated the fanatical support of the middle, professional and upper class, who have flat screen television sets at home, and subscribe to cable television. And after any win by this football club, you will hear shouts of, Man U for Life! by excited fans. This is followed by thronging of beer parlours and pepper soup joints in most cities in Nigeria to celebrate the wins. When they gather there and relish the win, you will hear agitated fans tell so many stories about the match; narrate all sorts of analysis and do rigorous discourse of the game that has just been played. After every big match, there is plenty of soccer storytelling in Nigeria.

Chelsea on the other hand is in total control of the masses, the lower class, the street boys, the motor park touts, jobless youths and street urchins poplularly known as area boys, in Lagos metropolis, Nigeria. They are more in number, are fanatical in their support for Chelsea, and are even prepared to die for the team.

Whenever Man U confronts Chelsea in a big match, there is tension in Lagos, even before the match day. The UEFA Cup Final for 2007 or 2008(I am not sure of the year now) between Man U and Chelsea was a storm in a tea cup in Lagos.

Seven days before the match, the tension was palpable in Lagos. Who will win the match? The big question triggered intense debates all over the city and sometimes resulted in pre-match fights between Man U and Chelsea supporters in Nigeria. Sports newspapers increased the tempo as they soaked supporters of both clubs with interviews, latest news and rave reviews of the clubs preparations, fitness of players, and the final match strategies.

Man U will win; we are Man U for Life! The clubs supporters will chant to the chagrin of Chelsea supporters who respond vociferously with Up Chelsea! Chelsea supporters in Lagos, outnumber the Man U for Life chanters. The Chelsea buffs are everywhere, more in the streets, marketplaces and motor parks. More than 80 per cent of commercial bus drivers in Lagos are die-hard Chelsea fans. And they are very loud. They can throw caution to the winds and fight anywhere with bottles, stones, any dangerous objects, especially if they are high on tobacco and reek of alcohol.

Not so with Man U supporters. They are more cultured, better educated and work in blue-collar and white collar jobs. They are more gentle and refined in their football behavior, though also fanatical in their support for Man U, hence the slogan, Man U for Life, a clear indication they are not ready to switch their European Club brand loyalty, whether Man is winning or not. And in many cases, Man U wins.

Back to that epic Man U/Chelsea Final. Twenty-four hours to the match, the whole city of Lagos was drowned with the fever of the match. There were unconfirmed reports of clashes between supporters of both clubs in different parts of Lagos. Bus drivers and conductors fought, radio stations rent the air with pre-match reviews and interactive programmes for listeners to air their views on the outcome of the match.

Man U vs Chelsea was so thick in the air that many residents waited impatiently for the match to come and go. Match day, fans thronged viewing centres and beer parlours to watch the game. If you want to enjoy the viewing of European soccer championships in Nigeria, do not watch it at home. Go to a viewing centre and sit with overzealous fans and listen to all sorts of stories and analysis as the match progresses. You can write a book full of such stories. Football storytelling is strong in Nigeria.

There is the story of a Manchester United fan, at home in Lagos, Nigeria, watching the epic final football match with Chelsea. Suddenly there was power outage. He did not have a standby electric generator to power his television set. Desperate not to miss any action in the match, he dashed into a hotel that has a viewing centre. Unfortunately, the place was thronged by Chelsea fans.

He burst into the centre shouting Man U for Life. The Chelsea supporters there promptly threw him out. Man U eventually won that match to the chagrin of Chelsea fans. Oh! Hell was almost let loose in Lagos metropolis. Man U fans celebrated, though in a subdued tempo because Chelsea supporters almost went on rampage. So many blames by the Chelsea fans. Oh! The referee was partial; there was not enough extra time; Didier Drogba did not play well enough; so many blames but the fact remained that Man U won on penalty kicks after both teams drew level at the end of extra time.

Come and see celebrations by Man U Fans. Three days later, they were still celebrating. Even married women joined in the fray. One madam, a Man U supporter threw open her restaurant and offered customers, ostensibly Man U fans, free drinks. The Man U fever is very strong in Nigeria. To say that Chelsea fans were disappointed that is being charitable; bitter yes, because that was the first time, I was told, their beloved club got very close to clinch the UEFA Cup. And they missed it.

Even the support for European clubs trickles down to families, sometimes breaching the peace at home, causing friction among children and creating challenges for parents in managing their childrens support for European soccer clubs

Take the story of my family of four sons (aged 17, 15, and 10) and a daughter who is just five, and does not know any club yet. Chidubem my first boy is a diehard supporter of Liverpool. Enter his room; you will see a life size poster-picture of the entire Liverpool team pasted on the wall. The second boy, Chibuzor, is a fanatical supporter of Barca. I had never heard that name before. When I asked him which club is that, he promptly told me, Daddy, you are behind time, chuckling. Who is Barca, I asked in amazement. Barca means Barcelona, he replied My boy taught me that. I thought I was current. Chika the youngest boy loves Chelsea.

Whenever their favourite teams wins or loses, come and see the commotion in my house. It could be jubilations, if it is a win, or taunts from other brothers if it is a loss. Should the match be between Liverpool, Barca, or Chelsea, there are fights in my house, so serious that that at times I have to threaten to discipline them if they continue to disturb the peace at home. The youngest boy Chika is always on the receiving end. Should Chelsea win Liverpool or Barca, the little boy is in trouble. The bigger brothers can even bully him if I or their mother is not around. On one occasion, they ran after him to beat him up, and he dashed off running to me for rescue. I did. If Chelsea loses, Oh! Come and see the taunts from the big brothers. In that situation, I usually placate Chika, assuring him that Chelsea will win another day. Such is the impact of European soccer on Nigerian families, sometimes polarizing family members.

It is not only European clubs that are celebrated in Nigeria. The players are revered too. Big names like Didier Drogba, David Beckam, Merci, Christian Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and many others are revered. They are not only big soccer brands in Nigeria, they are idols. Nigerian youths see them as status symbols and role models. The average Nigerian teenager has large size pictures of European soccer superstars pasted in their rooms. Nigerian youths know the movement and transfer fees of European soccer stars much more than that of Nigerian soccer stars also playing in European clubs.

The story of European soccer brands is not only about play. It is also about business. People gamble before matches, some even going into bets. Viewing centres are springing up all over Lagos fitted with flat screen tvs and connected to cable television channels. Match fixtures are displayed on blackboards planted on street sidewalks for the attention of passersby. These centres charge gate fees for soccer fans who want to watch matches.

Some hotels and hospitality outfits have joined the fray of showing such matches to attract more patronage. Many of them on match days bring out flat screen television sets out in the open for free viewing. But every patron watching the match is required to buy drinks.

But the viewing centres are running into trouble now with DSTV, the cable tv company in Africa that has the franchise to beam these football matches in the African continent. DSTV wants the viewing centres to pay fees or royalties to the company because they charge soccer fans money to match. The cable companys position is that the channel is for home entertainment by subscribers, and if any patron charges money for viewing, the person or company has to pay something to DSTV .The viewing centres are crying foul, saying it will squeeze them out of business. A showdown is imminent.

Besides, there are many sports souvenirs T ShirtsPicturesWall PapersGive Aways and other consumer items sporting European soccer stars and their clubs are sold in Nigeria. It is big business. And there are many newspapers dedicated exclusively to football. They come in different shades of tabloids, are cheaper than mainstream newspapers, and are heavily patronized by soccer loving youths to keep track of the fortunes of their favourite players and clubs. However, club loyalty does not stop them from loving any player, and they sometimes wish the player they love sign -on for their favourite clubs. Merci, the youthful Barcelona player is loved by Nigerian youngsters. They like his diminutive size and deft moves in the field of play. Nigerian youths believe this gifted Argentine boy has football sense. Same for the Brazilian, Ronaldinho.

And so anytime you see European soccer on air, know that the fever is very strong in Nigeria.

Following your favorite football team or league can be as complicated as heart surgery. Between all the rules governing what matches can be watched live and what TV subscriptions and equipment you need, trying to watch football live can be both difficult and expensive. Additionally, watching live football in a crowded bar can be bad for your wallet, really bad your liver, and especially bad for your ability to follow the action closely.

As such, watching live football ONLINE has become the answer to most football fans prayers. The quality varies, and the speed of the live football stream depends on your internet connection, as well as the live football sites own traffic. However, regardless of the quality, watching live football online is much better than missing the match, and if you have the right equipment, it can be just as good as watching on television.

Get your 1 year subscription to unlimited live football here.

Watch Live Soccer Online on PC with hd quality picture!
Just 3 steps - 1) Register 2) Download 3) Watch and Enjoy

Between paying services, free services, and paying services which give you access to free live football services, its almost as if the consumer now has too many choices when it comes to watching football online. With so many different ways of watching football online live, football fans often dont know where to start. Hopefully, this article can help you decide what kind of online service for live football is right for you.

I. Watching Live Football Online System Requirements (PC and Mac)

Just about all of the streaming sites are designed for PC use. Generally, the video streams are encoded in Windows Media Video (WMV) format. To view the streams, youll need to download Windows Media Player version 9 or higher. Mac users shouldnt fret, though. All you need to do is download Flip4Mac, a free program that converts WMV files for use on the Mac.

For PCs, its generally recommended that you should run Windows XP or Vista. Most sites recommend a processor speed of 1 GHz or faster, as well as 256 MB RAM or more. Essentially, while you dont need state-of-the-art hardware in order to view football matches on-line, the higher your capability, the better the quality of your viewing experience will be.

As for what Internet browser to use, different sites have different recommendations. You can bet, though, that as long as you have the latest version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Netscape, then you should be fine. Additionally, some sites will require you to download a DirectX driver or a Flash Video Player. Both are available for free.
.

II. TV Sports and Football Channel Sites

Many TV sports networks that carry football matches will provide streaming live coverage of football matches, usually for a price. Setanta Sports and Sky Sports are the two biggest networks in the UK that carry Premiership matches. As such, both networks offer live, streaming coverage of Premiership matches on-line.
.

A. Setanta Broadband

Setanta Sports offers separate live football streams for UK and North American customers.

North American viewers can subscribe on a monthly or annual basis. The monthly fee is $14.99/month and the annual fee is $149.99/year. The monthly fee gives you access to 150 Barclays Premier League matches per season. On Saturdays, Setanta has first and third choice for both the 7:30am ET and 10am ET matches. Additionally, both the Sunday 8:30am ET and Monday 3pm ET matches are first choice, and any games played Tuesdays or Wednesdays are also first picks by Setanta. Matches are also available via tape delay and on-demand.

Setanta Broadband also has Pay-Per-View events, which are priced individually on a per game or package basis. UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, and the Portuguese Superliga are all available via PPV. Annual subscribers get access to PPV events for free, while monthly subscribers can watch PPV events on tape-delay 24 hours after the match.

UK subscribers have a little more football action at their disposal. For 7.99 per month (with no minimum contract), or 79.99 for an annual subscription, subscribers can get access to 46 games per season live and exclusive from The Barclays Premier League, up to 25 live games per season from the F.A. Cup, including one live Semi-Final match, and live coverage of the Final, 60 live games each season from the Scottish Premier League, including all the Old Firm derbies and all the big matches, action from the German Bundesliga, Frances Le Championnat, the Portuguese Liga and the Dutch Eredivisie. Additionally, subscribers will have access to the UEFA Cup, some England international matches broadcast live, and a handful of matches featuring Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
.

B. Sky Sports Net

Available to UK and Ireland-based subscribers only, Sky Sports Net is an extension of Sky Sports TV. If you are a Sky TV subscriber and you subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 and Sky Multiroom (and are not benefiting from any other offer), then you get Sky Sports Net for free. If you are a Sky TV subscriber, but do not subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 and Sky Multiroom (or you do, but you are benefiting from another offer), the cost of subscribing to the Service is 10 per month. The Service is NOT available to non-Sky subscribers.

Subscribers will have access to select Premiership matches broadcast live, usually 1-3 per weekend, as well as select live matches from La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Cup, the F.A. and Carling Cups, and the Coca Cola Championship. Additionally, subscribers will get to watch select International matches live.
.

C. UEFA

UEFAs website offers live streaming video of all UEFA club and international competitions. Live matches cost $7.95 per match and are purchased individually. There is a Replay Subscription that is available to viewers who want to watch matches on delay. A 29.99 annual pass includes full match replay, access to UEFAs archives, and live audio commentary during UEFA matches. Matches can also be purchased individually from the archives for 1.99 per match

Its important to note that UEFAs live football streaming video content is only available to Windows users. Mac users might be able to get around this restriction by using Crossover, but Im not sure about that. Its too bad. If you ever wanted to re-live Manchester Uniteds stirring comeback against Bayern Munich, Barcelona fending off an inspired Arsenal side, or Liverpools stunning win against AC Milan, then you better be using a PC.
.

D. ESPN 360

ESPN 360 is a great way to watch matches that you wouldnt normally have access to just by watching the ESPN family of networks. The catch is that you must subscribe to a participating high-speed ISP (internet service provider, Verizon being the largest participating).

ESPN 360 provides up to 10 different live soccer streams covering sports ranging from soccer to college football. ESPN 360 has archived UEFA Champions League events which are only available for 24-48 hours after the match. Additionally, MLS Matches available on-demand, as are the European Championships and the World Cup. Basically, any sporting event that ESPN has the rights to can be seen, in some form, on ESPN 360.

ESPN 360 is still in its beginning stages, so we should expect significant upgrades and greater availability in the coming years.
.

E. Fox Sports " Australia

Fox Sports " Australia is available to Australian residents only. Thank you Rupert Murdoch!

Aussies can get up to 4 live Premiership matches a week that you can flick through, similar to Direct TVs Direct Ticket for the NFL. Additionally, subscribers have access to up to 5 tape-delayed Premiership matches a week that you can watch at any time. Unfortunately, when it comes to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup, or Carling Cup action, Aussies are out of luck. Fox Sports only streams Premier League matches. I guess Ruperts power only goes so far.

Subscribers can purchase a 9 Day Pass for $15 (Australian Dollars), which gives you access to 4 live matches and 5 on-demand matches. Or, subscribers can purchase a Season Pass for $125 (Australian Dollars), which gives you access to 4 live matches and 5 on-demand matches per week, which works out to over 200 games of the Barclay's Premier League in the 2008/09 season.

Also see: WebTVWire.com's review of Fox Sports Australia's Premier League service.

.

III. Official Football Club Websites

Most European clubs, (including all 20 Premiership teams) offer streaming on-line content to their subscribers. Due to F.A. restrictions and TV contracts, none of the Premiership websites are allowed to broadcast live footage of Premiership, Cup, or European matches. They are allowed to broadcast full matches via tape delay, and will usually provide live audio commentary, text updates during matches. Additionally, most club websites will air exclusive post-match interviews, video highlights, documentaries, and archival footage. Some clubs broadcast reserve and academy matches live.

Article Source

ACF Fiorentina, commonly referred to as simply Fiorentina, is a professional Italian football club from Florence, Tuscany. Founded by a merger in 1926, Fiorentina have played at the top level of Italian football for the majority of their existence; only four clubs have played in more Serie A seasons. After climbing back up the Italian football system in the early 2000s, Fiorentina are currently competing in the Serie A. Foundation to World War IIAssociazione Calcio Fiorentina was founded in the autumn of 1926 by local noble and National Fascist Party member Luigi Ridolfi, who initiated the merger of two older Florentine clubs, CS Firenze and PG Libertas. The aim of the merger was to give Florence a strong club to rival those of the more dominant Italian Football Championship sides of the time from North-West Italy. Also influential was the cultural revival and rediscovery of Calcio Fiorentino, an ancestor of modern football that was played by members of the Medici family.

First scudetto and '50-'60s

In 1950 Florentina started to achieve consistent top-five finishes in the domestic league. The team consisted of great players such as well-known goalkeeper Giuliano Sarti, Sergio Cervato, Francesco Rosella, Guido Gratton, Giuseppe Chiappella and Aldo Scaramucci, but above all the attacking duo of Brazilian Julinho and Argentinian Miguel Montuori. This team won Florentina's first scudetto (Italian championship) in 1955-56, 12 points ahead of second-place Milan.

Second scudetto and '70s

While the 1960s did result in some trophies and good Serie A finishes for Fiorentina, nobody believed that the club could challenge for the title. The 1968-69 season started with Milan as frontrunners, but on match day 7 they lost to Bologna and were overtaken by Gigi Riva's Cagliari Calcio. Fiorentina, after an unimpressive start, then moved to the top of the Serie A, but the first half of their season finished with a 2-2 draw against Varese, leaving Cagliari as outright league leader.

Pontello era

In 1980 Fiorentina was bought by Flavio Pontello, from a rich house-builder family. He quickly changed the team's anthem and logo, leading to some complaints by the fans, but he started to bring in high-quality players such as Francesco Graziani and Eraldo Pecci from Torino, Daniel Bertoni from Sevilla, Daniele Massaro from Monza and a young Pietro Vierchowod from Sampdoria. The team was built around Giancarlo Antognoni, and in Serie A 1981-82 Fiorentina were involved in an exciting duel with rival Juventus. After a bad injury to Antognoni, the league title was decided on the final day of the season, when Fiorentina were denied a goal against Cagliari and were unable to win. Juventus won the title with a disputed penalty, and the rivalry between the two teams erupted.

Cecchi Gori era

The first season under Cecchi Gori's ownership was one of settling, after which the new chairman started to sign some good players like Brian Laudrup, Stefan Effenberg, Francesco Baiano and, most importantly, Gabriel Batistuta, who became an iconic player for the team during the 1990s. In 1993, however, Mario Cecchi Gori died and was succeeded as chairman by his son Vittorio Cecchi Gori.

Della Valle era

The club was promptly re-established in August 2002 as Associazione Calcio Fiorentina e Florentia Viola with shoe and leather entrepreneur Diego Della Valle as new owner, and was admitted into Serie C2, the fourth tier of Italian football. The only player to remain at the club in its new incarnation was Angelo Di Livio, whose commitment to club's cause further endeared him to the fans. Helped by Di Livio and 30-goal striker Christian Rigan, the club won its Serie C2 group with considerable ease, which would normally have led to a promotion to Serie C1.

Badge

The official emblem of the city of Florence, a red giglio on a white field, has been pivotal in the all-round symbolism of the club.

Over the course of the club's history they have had several badge changes, all of which incorporated Florence's giglio in some way. The first one was nothing more than the city's coat of arms, a white shield with the red fleur-de-lis inside. It was soon changed to a very stylized fleur-de-lis, always red, and sometimes even without the white field. The most common symbol, adopted for about twenty years, had been a white lozenge with the flower inside. During the season they were Italian champions, the lozenge disappeared and the flower was overlapped with the scudetto.

Kit and colours

When Fiorentina was founded in 1926, the players wore red and white halved shirts derived from the colour of the city emblem. The more well-known and highly distinctive purple kit was adopted in 1928 and has been used ever since, giving rise to the nickname La Viola ("The Purple (team)"). Tradition has it that Fiorentina got their purple kit by mistake after an accident washing the old red and white coloured kits in the river.

Arsenal Football Club often simply known as Arsenal or The Arsenal, or by their nickname The Gunners) are an English professional football club based in Holloway, North London. They play in the Premier League and are one of the most successful clubs in English football, having won thirteen First Division and Premier League titles and ten FA Cups. They hold the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and are the only Premier League side to have completed a season unbeaten.

Arsenal's record home attendance is 73,707, for a UEFA Champions League match against RC Lens on 25 November 1998 at Wembley Stadium, where Arsenal formerly played home European matches because of the limits on Highbury's capacity. The record attendance for an Arsenal match at Highbury is 73,295, for a 0-0 draw against Sunderland on 9 March 1935, while that at Emirates Stadium is 60,161, for a 2-2 draw with Manchester United on 3 November 2007.

Arsenal have also set records in English football, most notably the most consecutive seasons spent in the top flight (82 as of 2008-09) and the longest run of unbeaten League matches (49 between May 2003 and October 2004).

Arsenal fans often refer to themselves as "Gooners", the name being derived from the team's nickname, "The Gunners". Arsenal have a large and generally loyal fanbase, with virtually all home matches selling out; in 2007-08 Arsenal had the second-highest average League attendance for an English club (60,070, which was 99.5% of available capacity) and as of 2006, the fourth-highest all-time average attendance.

Arsenal with 25 points is at the second place in the Premeir League table 2009. They have played 11 matches total till now in Premier League. Out of which they won 8 and lose 2. while 1 match ended without and decisive result and they got tied in that.

Arsene Wenger the manager is confident that his Arsenal side can challenge for the Premier League title this season after cruising to a 4-1 victory at Wolves on Saturday evening.

The three points lifted the Gunners up to second in the Premier League table, at least until Chelsea's encounter with Manchester United on Sunday.

The win extended Arsenal's unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions, although they were helped on their way by two own goals from Ronald Zubar and Jody Craddock.

An upbeat Wenger said: "The desire is there (to win the title). We just want to strengthen our belief.

"The most important factor is we play for each other as we do. We have to focus on our performance and continue to develop our style of play.

"We were out of it (the title race) last year after we lost five games in 14. Two years ago, though, we were close to winning it, people forget that. We will keep our humility and play our game.

"It is too early to calculate too much. The Chelsea v United match is fantastic for us. Let's hope it is a good game and you enjoy it. You always enjoy a game when you have won.

"Also, I would not discount Liverpool at the moment, even though they have lost five games. Now everyone has lost two, so there is a difference between now and last year."

Arsenal have a large fan base and have millions of fans all over the world and people love to watch their matches live into the play ground. Arsenal fans love to enjoy and experience the thrill during the Arsenal match live in the ground. Getting Champions League tickets for Arsenal matches is really a hard task for the Arsenal fans.

Football is a brilliant and popular game which is loved by people worldwide. From the first playing of it, it has undergone a great and long development and gained a great fame and success. Along with the development of football, some other of football equipments has changed a lot. Such as the football kits have suffered a great evolution.

Football is a sport played by twenty-two players, who will showcase their skills just to win this physically strong game. Nevertheless, every player should have a football kit. Football kits do not only refer to the uniforms and jerseys being used in the football games. It refers to the overall things that the football players use during the games. The kits of football players have already evolved as the time goes by. Such as the jerseys, the players didn't wear the authentic jerseys china at the first time they playing football. The original jerseys are only plain white shirts, as football was firstly played by wealthy men. Football uniforms as well as kits are not really included on the rules of football when it became an official sport in the 1880s.

In fact, not only football players can have the kits in football but also the football aficionados. Indeed, players can wear whatever they want to wear during a football game before. They are free to use anything they want to use either for their comfort or just to have their own style. The first kits used were the garish and brash uniforms. These uniforms were blue, claret, and salmon pink in color. It was actually used by public school students. At that time, they have decided to have football uniforms to distinguish one team from the other.
As football becomes popularized and loved by more and more people. And with the continuous evolution of football, its equipments as well as kits were also improved. The uniforms became more gaudy and colorful. Shorts and socks were also included on the kit. Indeed, after so many years, the kits connected to football became more fashionable. Meanwhile, a lot of football fans desire to get a nfl jersey, so nfl jerseys wholesale have been popularized. During the 1990s, smaller shorts and slim-fitting football shirts became the trend in the football world. More exciting and bold colors were being preferred by many players as well as football lovers and fans. As a matter of fact, in today's time, many kits are made available and became a part of the economy of almost all the football clubs.

As the football becomes widely popular in the whole world, and with so many crazy football aficionados, football will develop to be the greatest sport game. Then, all the kits will have a great evolution. They will have exciting colors, designs, style, and comfortable textile materials. Thus, there is a wide range of kits to choose from.
So, the football fans can show their love and support for their favorite football team very well.

Football, or soccer, as it is known in some areas of the world, is arguably one of the biggest sport in the world; and for many hardcore fans, acquiring a piece of football memorabilia is priceless.

Football is shrouded in history and enjoyed by millions across the globe. With a host of historic football clubs, international teams and players; collecting football memorabilia has become part of the football experience. For many, collecting priceless football artefacts has become a hobby or a past time and over the years the popularity of collecting football memorabilia has grown considerably. Such is the popularity of football as a celebrity culture in this day in age that the rise in obtaining signed football memorabilia continues to rise more than most.

Most clubs and international teams nowadays produce mass items which are pre-signed and sold in official club shops, international shops and on the team's official website. Signed shirts, signed team photographs and signed pictures of star players are perhaps the most popular form of football memorabilia for buyers and sellers to trade in.

The fundamental growth in collecting signed football memorabilia stems from how readily available it now is. Collectors can now enjoy a number of channels for collecting football memorabilia. Official avenues include direct contact with football clubs. Other options include independent traders who specialise in the buying and trading of football memorabilia which can include anything from signed football programmes through to signed shirts and photographs.

A more popular approach in the 21st century is made available by the internet. From the comfort of one's home, the internet offers a vast source of online auction sites, specialist memorabilia companies and private collectors and sellers that can all offer signed football memorabilia items.

Given the global influence that football has, collecting football memorabilia can prove to be quite profitable in future years. This again contributes to the ever growing popularity of collecting football memorabilia, particularly anything that is signed. Due to its global status, there is a mass market to appeal to and for many football fans, coming into the possession of any form of football memorabilia creates an emotional bond in the sense that it makes a person feel part of a particular day such as an FA Cup Final for instance. Should one be privileged enough to acquire a signed shirt from such an event, the future implications of that could not have a value attributed to it.

Fundamentally, the growth in collecting football memorabilia will continue as there is a never ending market for it. With a mass audience to appeal to, the excitement generated by trading in historical and even present football memorabilia will continue to remain present in every hardcore football fan. Specialist traders and independent buyers and sellers will almost certainly compete to obtain such historical items that appeal to so many. Primarily, the collection of football memorabilia is a hugely popular market with a high demand.

Even in turbulent economic times, the popularity of collecting football memorabilia has continued to flourish as money does not dictate the value in this instance; it is the emotional aspect that prevails.

If you or someone you know is football mad then why not treat them to some football memorabilia from Genuine Memorabilia!

There's hardly a football fan who misses to watch the UEFA Champions League Live, which is quite understandable, considering that the event brings together the very best of the European Football clubs, on a single playfield, as they all put their best foot forward (quite literally), in a quest for the coveted cup of glory.

The UEFA Champions League has been organized by UEFA since 1955. While every single match of the event is always worth a watch, the final is the one that's gone on to become the most watched live sporting event of all time.

All you football fans must be reveling in the UEFA Champions League live with the initial rounds offering football at its best. You must be aware that the tournament usually begins in the middle of each year, and culminates in the final that is held in the following year. The three knockout rounds and a play-off round decide which of the 10 teams will move on to join the 22 seeded teams in the group stage.

The group stage witnesses the most spectacular matches among the eight groups, each consisting of four teams. A winning team is selected from each group, and it is these teams, alongwith the eight runners-up that make it to the final knock-out phase of the UEFA Champions League. This is undoubtedly the most enthralling part of the live event. To watch all the matches that finally lead to the brilliant final, be sure to get the UEFA Champions League live streaming into your PC.

The next final will be held at the Wembley Stadium in London. So far, the events of the league have been spectacular, and it's well predictable that hoards of football enthusiasts will swarm in to watch the final of the UEFA Champions League live. Over the years, the title has been won by 21 different clubs, of which 12 have won the title repetitively. The undisputed stars of the league are the RealMadrid, who have won the title a whooping nine times.

It's yet to see which of these top-notch teams will go on to win the title this time. The current champions of the league are the Internazionale, who bagged the title after a brilliant 2-0 win in the 2010 final, in which they were teamed up against Bayern Munich. It remains to see whether the team will yet again emerge victorious as they hit the play field in the latest tournament of the league, or whether we'll be seeing some new teams making it up to the top. Whatever ensues, what's for sure is that the event stands as a cult event in the history of football, and is always going to be the biggest thing for football fans to look forward to.
