For a long time fantasy football remained a hobby and a pleasant pastime and was mostly played in a non-serious way in sports bars, among friends, in offices and at homes. But the scenario has dramatically changed in recent times and today, fantasy football is a multi-billion dollar industry largely due to the Internet and the numerous websites that have come up specifically for this purpose.

Now there are scores of magazines, game play software, a proliferation of websites, and so many different leagues making fantasy football an exciting and fabulous sport. Of course, the fantasy football continues to be a fantasy game, but the players are real life players and this is the reason why you have to carefully study the real NFL season and keenly observe the players and their performance.
There is nothing complicated about fantasy football and in fact, anyone can play fantasy football, even if he/she does not know much about the sport but has the aptitude and willingness to learn. You are not required to be a fanatical football fan to enjoy playing fantasy football. In fact, there are a lot of people today who simply love fantasy football but have neither an in-depth knowledge nor serious interest in the actual game.

Each fantasy football player is, in a sense, owner of his/her team and drafts an imaginary team but with real-time players before the football season commences. You then score points based on the actual performance of your players in the real games. Your fantasy football team progresses in much the same way as the real football games. When your dream team scores the most points by the end of the football season and comes out with the best win-loss record then you obviously win.

Fantasy football is a sort of format where you choose a team or squad of players from your favorite league and score points every week or weekend depending on the player's performance in real game. You can always apply necessary correctives to your team before the next round of matches using the hindsight knowledge to predict who will perform well.
There are different set of rules for each different league. You must be willing to spend the required time to learn the rules of the league to improve the chances of success in the season. You can opt to play either NFL leagues or NCAA leagues and create your own football dream team that will allow you a chance to win. With a wide variety of options for game play and leagues, you can certainly enjoy the fantasy game and have lot of fun. Fantasy football provides so much of excitement that millions of people indulge in fantasy football every season contributing to its ever increasing popularity.

Historically speaking, fantasy football was the brainchild of Danny Dulac, one of the organizers of the Raiders. Interestingly, he conceived this queer idea and formulated many of the rules when he was on a road trip to the east coast. Today, fantasy football has become a craze with millions of players all around the world.

Fantasy football can be challenging and you can compete with your friends to see just who has the best intuition. Of course, fantasy football becomes an addiction over a period of time but it is a much cheaper and infinitely less destructive than other forms of gambling.

Football, or soccer, as it is known in some areas of the world, is arguably one of the biggest sport in the world; and for many hardcore fans, acquiring a piece of football memorabilia is priceless.

Football is shrouded in history and enjoyed by millions across the globe. With a host of historic football clubs, international teams and players; collecting football memorabilia has become part of the football experience. For many, collecting priceless football artefacts has become a hobby or a past time and over the years the popularity of collecting football memorabilia has grown considerably. Such is the popularity of football as a celebrity culture in this day in age that the rise in obtaining signed football memorabilia continues to rise more than most.

Most clubs and international teams nowadays produce mass items which are pre-signed and sold in official club shops, international shops and on the team's official website. Signed shirts, signed team photographs and signed pictures of star players are perhaps the most popular form of football memorabilia for buyers and sellers to trade in.

The fundamental growth in collecting signed football memorabilia stems from how readily available it now is. Collectors can now enjoy a number of channels for collecting football memorabilia. Official avenues include direct contact with football clubs. Other options include independent traders who specialise in the buying and trading of football memorabilia which can include anything from signed football programmes through to signed shirts and photographs.

A more popular approach in the 21st century is made available by the internet. From the comfort of one's home, the internet offers a vast source of online auction sites, specialist memorabilia companies and private collectors and sellers that can all offer signed football memorabilia items.

Given the global influence that football has, collecting football memorabilia can prove to be quite profitable in future years. This again contributes to the ever growing popularity of collecting football memorabilia, particularly anything that is signed. Due to its global status, there is a mass market to appeal to and for many football fans, coming into the possession of any form of football memorabilia creates an emotional bond in the sense that it makes a person feel part of a particular day such as an FA Cup Final for instance. Should one be privileged enough to acquire a signed shirt from such an event, the future implications of that could not have a value attributed to it.

Fundamentally, the growth in collecting football memorabilia will continue as there is a never ending market for it. With a mass audience to appeal to, the excitement generated by trading in historical and even present football memorabilia will continue to remain present in every hardcore football fan. Specialist traders and independent buyers and sellers will almost certainly compete to obtain such historical items that appeal to so many. Primarily, the collection of football memorabilia is a hugely popular market with a high demand.

Even in turbulent economic times, the popularity of collecting football memorabilia has continued to flourish as money does not dictate the value in this instance; it is the emotional aspect that prevails.

If you or someone you know is football mad then why not treat them to some football memorabilia from Genuine Memorabilia!

INTRODUCTION

The fans of the South Eastern Conference take their college football very seriously. Year in and year out they lead the country, dominating overall attendance records. In 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 the conference drew more than 5.5 million fans at its home games; a national record for a conference. Football Fanatics, you bet, and they wear the badge proudly.

I on the other hand reside at the other end of this spectrum. My parents were not sports people and it simply was not part of our family structure. I would half-heartedly follow our local sports teams but only if it was convenient. If the game was on and I happened to be sitting in front of the television then great, or if there was a radio handy I might tune in. Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the journey on which I would embark with my own child.

TYPICAL PARENTS

Like most baby-boom-era parents my wife Stacy and I were determined to expose our children to everything we could from sports to music to dance to theatre to whatever. Following the generational trend, we wanted to afford our kids those things that we simply did not have available to us as children. It is amazing how much has changed over the course of only a few decades. What really accentuated this point was one Christmas when Santa brought a Game-Boy for Willy, my eldest of three; while he was sitting there on the floor playing Ninja Turtles he looked up at me and asked if I played Game-Boy when I was little? That simple, innocent question tells the whole tale. Game-Boy - PS2 - Xbox 360 - Wii, heck, all I had access to was Pong which came onto the scene when I was about eleven years old; my cousin had one so the only time I was able to play it was when I went to visit him. I try to explain to my children that the first time I had access to a computer was in college. We had to sign up for computer time which often was in the wee hours of the morning. They look at me, while texting a message to their friend, as if I am speaking a foreign language. Even our vocabulary has changed; is texting a proper word?

Growing up in the inner city during the late sixties - early seventies the only organized sporting activities available to me were baseball, basketball and football. Tennis and golf were primarily for those belonging to a country club, hockey and soccer simply did not exist and opportunities for swimming, track, wrestling and volleyball were not available until high school. Today children have instant access to the world and exposure to almost anything; baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, swimming, scouting, piano, you name it. I told my children early on that they could participate in anything except football and boxing. My wife and I were determined that our children participate in something; what they chose was for the most part up to them. The risk of chronic and even severe injury from football is just too high and boxing is just plain lunacy. Had Extreme Fighting existing during that time it would have been prohibited as well. Everything else was fair game.

WHO KNEW?

Jump ahead about ten years. Alex, my middle child, came home from school one day and told me that he had joined the football team, catching me off-guard and momentarily speechless. He knew the rules, football was off limits. 'Really, what position?' I asked. I'm going to kick, he explained, assuring me that it is the safest position on the roster; kickers never get hurt. I then asked how this came about. Alex's gym class was outside on the football field where he and a few of his buddies, who were already on the team, were goofing around kicking field goals. As it turns out Alex was popping them through the uprights, with ease, from thirty five yards out so his buddies suggested he try out for the team; the coach obviously liked what he saw and Alex became the starting varsity kicker his senior year.

WE'RE FOOTBALL PEOPLE NOW

The most ironic part of this journey is that prior to Alex joining the football team I had never attended a high school football game as an adult and attended only a handful as a student. Perhaps if I had friends on the football team when I was in high school or dated a cheerleader the Friday night games would have drawn my interest.

For all practical purposes high school football was a new experience for me so naturally I had no idea what to expect. I figured that my family and I would attend the games, watch our son kick a few balls and enjoy an evening out. My wife on the other hand jumped in with both feet and did not look back. From the very first game Stacy looked and acted like a veteran football mom. She wore the traditional red, white and black scarf displaying the school colors along with the big button proudly pinned to her chest showing off a photograph of her son in his football uniform. Number fifteen, that's MY child. The photo-button is the official badge of honor for all of the mothers with children who are members of the team, the various cheerleading squads and the marching band. It truly is a beautiful sight to look into the stands and see a wall of moms sporting big photo-buttons accented with red, white and black scarves. Simply put, football is addictive. There is so much emotional purity involved at this level that you cannot help but get caught up in all the excitement. I think the reason for this is that the fans are more vested than at the college or professional level; the high school setting is much more intimate. Parents are obviously going to cheer for their children regardless of level or venue, but the true difference rests with the kids in the stands. They are rooting for friends that they grew up with, friends whose birthday parties they attended and sofas they slept on. These are the same kids who were lab partners in science class and were teammates on the recreational soccer team. The kids on the field and the kids in the stands have literally known each other all their lives. This depth of connection on such a wide scale simply cannot occur at the college or professional level. The kids being raised within the same community is what makes high school sports so special and unique.

From the time my children reached middle school my opening line when I got home would be the same; "How was school, do you have any homework?" Now though, now that we're football people there is an added wrinkle. When I speak to Alex it is, "How was school, do you have any homework, how did you kick today?" Like I can advise him if he proclaims that he did not kick well in practice? The only piece of advice I would be able to give that made any sense at all would be to keep your eye on the ball; how profound and utterly obvious. But it was important for me to get a progress report. I wanted to be involved; I needed to be involved, for we're football people now.

DEJA VU

My parents lived ten to fifteen minutes from us yet, when our children were little it would take us forty five minutes to get everyone situated for a ten minute ride. Attending our son's football games resulted in a similar ordeal. We graduated from a checklist of formula, diapers, toys, snacks, juice bottles and extra clothes to stadium chairs, blankets, gloves, hats, umbrella and directions. The one constant was that someone always had to use the restroom at the last minute just as we were ready to walk out the door. A few things in life transcend gender - religion - geography - nationality - economic status - education and language; having a family member run to the bathroom just as you are ready to leave the house can be deemed a universal truth.

THE PORK PIE HAT

When my children were old enough to attend school I went out and purchased a black leather Pork Pie hat which I would dutifully wear to all of their outdoor events. Initially, I wanted to wear a Dr. Seuss hat but my wife said I looked silly; my kids thought it was funny. The Pork Pie is a cool looking hat which I still wear to this day. The main reason I bought it was so my children could easily find me in a crowd. If we ever got separated, just look for the odd looking hat. In a sea of baseball caps my Pork Pie hat stuck out like a sore thumb. It worked well and my children got used to the idea. As they grew older and started playing organized sports they would use the hat to easily find me in the stands. Alex tells me he still looks for the hat while standing on the sideline. Old habits die hard.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Being a disciple of the 'Just in Time' theory the parking lot is already packed as we approach the stadium, so once again I am relegated to waiting in line to drop off my family at the front entrance then park the car. Most nights, the nearest parking spot is a quarter of a mile away which is not a problem unless it is 30 degrees and windy or pouring rain. Unfortunately, I got to experience both. As I make my way to the field I pass a used car lot full of automobiles neatly arranged on the grass between the 'No Parking on Grass' signs. The scope of influence the football program has on local law enforcement is impressive. I purchase my ticket and call my wife to find out where she is sitting. Thank heaven for cell phones, without them I may not find her until halftime when the stampede occurs to line up for pretzels, hot dogs and the all important restroom.

A high school football game is a roller coaster of emotion and excitement from waiting for the team to run onto the field through the tunnel of cheerleaders, crashing through the home made banner - to the halftime show featuring both high school marching bands - to the end of the game when the entire football team runs over to the stands in front of the marching band to pay homage to one another as the band plays the school's fight song. I have come to realize that this spectacle simply has to be experienced first hand to be appreciated and understood. The electricity and energy of a live high school game is invigorating. Boys without shirts, chests painted all screaming at their counterparts across the field - the opposing bands dueling back and forth, these kids were having the time of their lives and it was easy to get caught up in their drama. It made me wonder what I had missed when I was in high school; perhaps Alex, by being a part of the football team is affording me the opportunities I missed out on when I was a student? Maybe it is better this way, as an adult I appreciate it more.

V.I.P.

A dominating high school team brings a celebrity status not only to the players but their parents as well. All of a sudden people I had known only in passing were stopping to partake in detailed conversation with me; at the gas station, the grocery store, and coffee house. Alex is really kicking well, have any colleges approached him yet? Wow, Alex is having a great season I didn't know he could kick like that. Truth be told, I didn't know it either? He must have inherited it from his mother. It is a great feeling being the parent of an athlete. You cannot help but stick out your chest with pride when you hear others in the stands cheering on your son and yelling his name. It turned out to be an experience I never could have anticipated. I savored every minute. In addition I had the good fortune by sheer happenstance, of experiencing events a-typical to a normal football season like watching Alex set a new school record by booming a 48 yard field goal with one second left in the half to helping his team win a State Championship posting a flawless 16-0 record; moments like these are indeed rare.

PRICELESS

Alex told me the highlight of the season was playing the conference championship game at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I cannot imagine how cool it is to play in a professional football stadium, I can tell you though as a parent of one of the players, it is an awesome experience to watch. To sit in the stands and watch your son on that field, kicking up the same dirt as Hines Ward and booming field goals through the same uprights as Jeff Reed is surreal. Ticket to the game - $10, soft pretzel with mustard - $4.50, hot dog and drink - $7.50, watching Alex, larger than life on the Jumbo-Tron, running off the field pumping his fist after burying a field goal - priceless.

As impressive as watching Alex play at Heinz Field was, the highlight for me came several months later at the Pennsylvania East-West All Star Game. When I saw Alex run out of the tunnel onto the field my jaw literally dropped. I was stunned, almost paralyzed from the sharp chill piercing through my body; I was covered with goose bumps. There it was, as plain as day sprawled across the back of my son's shoulders; ROMANIAS. His name, my name was on the back of his jersey. I was overwhelmed; I never saw my name on the back of a jersey before yet there it was staring at me, taunting me, seducing me. Seeing my name on the back of that jersey was a profound experience. It caught me completely off guard; it was phenomenal. Several times during the course of the game I would lean over to remind my wife just how cool it was to see my name on the back of that jersey.

WHAT A RIDE

Who could have imagined that kicking field goals in gym class for fun would have resulted in such a magical journey? Prior to this season the last high school football game I attended was in 1978 when I was a junior. Now, we're football people.

Next stop, college; I guess Stacy will have to get another big photo-button and a new scarf while I dust off the Pork Pie hat. Thanks for the ride son!

Memorabilia has a similar meaning to souvenirs. As you get football souvenirs you also get football memorabilia. As the word says football memorabilia are football souvenirs that are to be treasured because of its memories. Football memorabilia could be for a certain football game to cherish or for a certain football teams history. Football memorabilia could even be about a certain football player that no longer plays football because they have retired from the game or have died. We think of famous football players like Bobby Ball and George Best just to name a couple. Football memorabilia can be in all forms such as mugs, pens, photos, posters and alike.
The football clubs sell hundreds and hundreds of football memorabilia items every day to the true fans and make many millions of pounds from these sales; only recently David Beckham's move to LA Galaxy was explained by the volume of memorabilia items that would sell as a result. Not only does football memorabilia generate income for the football teams it can also be used to financially assist the close families of football players who can no longer play the game and as such cannot fully support their wives and families.
Footballer's autographs and signed photographs is a popular form of football memorabilia. DVD's telling you all about a famous footballer or a famous football team are collected all over the world as football memorabilia. There are ardent football fans that will spend their hard earned cash on football memorabilia to keep on walls side boards and shelves. They will even buy old tickets for a particular day or event.
In years to come some the football memorabilia can increase their value and can become an investment for the buyer. Supporters will even go as far as to buy old football programs; football programs that have been signed by the famous make very good keeps sakes to a true collector and will be bought and sold by football fans.
You can walk down to your local shopping centre and you will come across souvenir shops selling football memorabilia. With the advent of the internet web sites are springing up all over the place selling football items of which football memorabilia forms a huge part of their stock items. One can check out these web site for your preferred collectable and would find the prices far cheaper than the football gift shops sell them for.
The beauty of the web is that you can surf at your leisure the various websites available for your chosen football memorabilia and purchase the items at a price you can afford. You do not have to pay transport costs to the shops and as such save even more money. As we are in a so called credit crash that cannot be a bad thing.Football souvenirs and football memorabilia are related in many ways but how?.
If you are interested in football, especially in college football, read on to learn some interesting insight into the roots of the game.In the 1890s college football had already created strong emotions of love and hate. Big-time eastern football had demonstrated that it could draw large crowds, create alumni support, and build an identity that would attract new students. The fact that it had little to do with classical education bothered only the traditionalists on campus and a handful of crotchety purists elsewhere who wrote critically of football in magazines, newspaper articles, and official college reports.Outward appearances may have changed, but the gridiron problems in that era appear remarkably similar to the present. In the 1890s big-time recruiters and alumni contacts scoured the eastern prep schools for talented juniors and seniors ready to entice them to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. Occasionally, unscrupulous alumni convinced students to quit high school before they graduated in order to enroll at an institution with a big-time team. Boosters funneled tuition money to poor but athletically talented boys from the coal fields of Pennsylvania and the industrial towns of the Northeast to preparatory schools in order to prepare them for big-time college athletics. Some of these young men were in their mid-twenties when they finally entered college. Other athletes went from school to school selling their services, phantom players who had no academic ties with the institution.Big-time alumni football entrepreneurs-the counterpart of today's athletic directors-arranged a schedule of games which began with weak teams and worked up to big money games held in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. Gridiron profits supported stadium building, sumptuous living quarters and training tables for players, as well as Pullman cars for retinues of trainers, massagers, alumni coaches, and other hangers-on who followed the team to the big games. What was left over went to support an array of lesser sports that big-time football had eclipsed. At the major football schools critics complained that football players became the campus elite, admired by their fellow students and regarded skeptically by many faculty. In the absence of professional football, players basked in the attention of the media, and the names of the gridiron stars appeared regularly in the sports pages of big city newspapers. Even college faculty and presidents had to be properly worshipful of football and its elite because they knew that football advertised their schools and helped to retain the loyalty of alumni. As a result, they often ignored or remained blissfully unaware of scams to admit unqualified students, play athletes who never enrolled, or resort to stratagems to keep weak players eligible.Though booster organizations did not exist outside of alumni groups, booster alumni and townspeople, student managers, and even faculty engaged in unethical acts. A Princeton alumnus named Patterson entertained football players and made every effort to entice them to his alma mater. Authorities at Swarthmore lured the huge lineman, Bob ("Tiny") Maxwell, from the University of Chicago and arranged for the president of the college to pass his bills to a prominent alumnus. Professor Woodrow Wilson, a fanatic Princeton enthusiast, shamelessly used football when he spoke to alumni organizations and vigorously opposed football reform in the 1890s and early 1900s. In contrast, Theodore Roosevelt, a Harvard graduate, who gloried in the strenuous life and strongly supported Harvard football, turned against football brutality in 1905 and initiated the first efforts in his capacity as president to reform the spirit in which big-time football teams competed. We know that the prototype for athletic organization began at eastern institutions in the 1880s and 1890s. Yale's Walter Camp, "the father of American football," became the model for the coach and athletic director. While pursuing a business career, he also acted as Yale's de facto vice president for athletic operations, who dominated the rules committees and ceaselessly publicized the game. From the profits of big games in Boston and New York, Camp created an ample reserve fund that supported lesser sports, afforded lush treatment for athletes, and provided the money that eventually went toward building Yale Bowl, the first of the modern football stadiums. By making Yale into an athletic powerhouse, Camp built the school's reputation, making it second only to Harvard. Because he succeeded so well, Camp became the first big-name foe of sweeping football reforms-and an especially hard-core opponent of the forward pass.By the turn of century the deaths of players in football led state legislators to introduce laws banning the gridiron game. Players for big-time teams, critics charged, were coached to injure their opponents or "put them out of business." The nature of the game, with its mass formations and momentum plays, made football less an athletic contest than a collegiate version of warlike combat. Eventually the violence in football led to attempts to reduce its brutality through reforms. New rules put a strong emphasis on better officiating and on less dangerous formations, but they did not necessarily improve the athletic environment. The deaths and brutality presented an excellent opportunity to root out the worst excesses of the runaway football culture. In the 1890s and early 1900s, responding to public opinion, professors and presidents spent a great deal of time talking about the overemphasis of intercollegiate athletics-and, in some cases, passing rules at the conference and institutional level to regulate college sports. Why, then, did college presidents and faculty, who had far more authority over their students than their modern counterparts, fail to control the gridiron beast? Put differently, why did school presidents and faculty often themselves become part of the athletic problem?. One problem might be that faculty members played major roles in introducing early football. In addition to Woodrow Wilson, who served as a part-time coach at Wesleyan, an English instructor at Oklahoma who had recently come from Harvard, Vernon Parrington, taught the fundamentals of football on the windswept practice field in Oklahoma. At Miami University of Ohio the president called upon all able-bodied members of the faculty to go out for football. In a game between North Carolina and Virginia a member of the North Carolina faculty scored the winning touchdown. Often the faculty proved helpful to the budding football programs in other ways such as giving athletes passing grades or writing articles arguing that football built intellect. Only a handful, like Wisconsin's Frederick Jackson Turner, made a determined effort to root out the abuses in the culture of college football such as the intense media attention given to the sport and its tendency to cushion star athletes from academic requirements. That was more than a century ago. When we turn to the 1980s and 1990s what do we encounter? Outward appearances of football may have changed, but the problems appear hauntingly similar. Big-time football teams induce players to attend their institution with offers of cars and money as well as running booster operations to funnel cash to blue-chip players. Players who obtain special admission or enter the institution fraudulently do so only to play football and often leave without graduating. Schools manage to keep their players eligible by manufacturing credits or by easing them into simple courses in which they are assured of receiving passing grades. Some coaches engage in violence toward players in practice and even try to drive them out of school so that they can use their scholarship slot.Athletic departments and institutional officials have become obsessed with the potential for profits from televised big games or bowl games. Big-time teams in the NCAA try to manipulate the organization so that they will be able to have more coaches, scholarships, and only minimal academic requirements. Players commit acts of violence and brutality, then manage to avoid the consequences. College presidents whose salaries and prominence fall far short of the head football coaches dutifully show up at football games and related alumni events, treading cautiously around the mire of big-time college athletics. All of this has added up to major athletic scandals, most of them involving big-time football. Scandals such as the pay-for-play violations at Southern Methodist and Auburn from the late 1970s to the early 1990s man-aged to create internal disruptions and negative publicity at numbers of big-name institutions. Yet, in spite of the obvious flaws in college football, it continues to enlarge its grip on the major universities. The athletic foundations persist in enlarging their massive gridiron complexes, selling the rights to buy tickets for upscale luxury boxes and suites, and then collecting additional revenues for the sale of high-priced tickets. The major teams have created indoor facilities out of donations that might have gone to deserving but impoverished non-athletes for scholarships. While quasi-professional student-athletes play the game, ordinary students have little to do with the sport. In an atmosphere of highly specialized career coaches, publicists, trainers, and tutors, college football reflects more than ever the professionalism that reformers long ago set out to de-emphasize.No one would deny that football constitutes one of the most entertaining and enjoyable spectator sports. In the early days some faculty believed that the student enthusiasm for football would enable the institutions to alleviate the pervasive antisocial behavior of undergraduates. Being aware of its appeal, most athletic critics and reformers attempted to change football rather than to abolish it. The few colleges that dropped football did so it because the school had no choice or, occasionally, because a college president happened to wield unusual power at a critical moment in football's history. Far and away the largest group of thoughtful gridiron critics have attempted to reform football and to reshape it in such a way that it fit more reasonably and appropriately into the spirit and life of the university. Why have they not succeeded?Beginning in the 1890s and continuing into the 1990s, reformers have spent tens of thousands of hours attending meetings and conferences, devising new rules to solve the latest problems that have cropped up, and generally trying to work out better systems for their own institutions; in the early 1900s moderate reformers founded the NCAA to deal with deaths and brutality and to put football securely under the thumb of the faculty and college presidents. Again in the early 1950s, in a groundswell of outrage against cheating, gambling, and subsidies for athletes, college presidents and faculty members tried to create stricter standards to reduce the greed and professionalism in football rather than to drop it altogether. In the 1980s and early 1990s an outbreak of scandal in big-time football resulted the same response of temporary uneasiness and halting reforms which had become by then a pattern in the history of college football. The outbreak in the 1980s once again clearly emphasized the failure of reform to bring about real change. In three major periods of gridiron upheaval the colleges have been unable or unwilling to eliminate the causes of chronic cheating. While political reforms by Congress and the states have achieved some enduring success, football and big-time athletics generally have had to face the same issues again and again-much like Sisyphus repeatedly pushing the stone uphill. Why does big-time football manage to be almost constantly in a state of crisis? Is there some quality about football, or college sports generally, or a flaw in higher education which causes this turmoil? If the Greek ideal of education stands for the training of body, spirit, and mind, why have the colleges failed so abysmally at their mission?Good question, isn't it? But the answer is beyond the subject of this article - and, unfortunately, beyond the expertise of the college football experts.

I make a living by creating (and selling) fantasy football rankings and I have been doing this professionally for 11 years now. What I've discovered is that you'll do a hell of a lot better when you actually have a rationale for your rankings. And the only way you can do that is by creating projections.

Yes, it'll take a lot of thought and research. But when you're done, you'll have a pride of ownership in your work. And my guess is that you'll have a lot of fun doing it. After all, if you play fantasy football, it's for love of the hobby. Doing your own fantasy football rankings and projections should be part of that love!

To help you out, let me offer you a handful of quick tips. Here we go.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #1: Last Year's Stats Don't Equal This Year's Stats. Check out most 2010 fantasy football rankings and you'll see that they look a whole lot like 2009's final player stats. No forward thinking. The guys doing these rankings just figure that players will basically finish as they did in 2009. But the truth is that most of the players who finish in the top-10 in any given year will NOT finish in the top-10 the following year. That is true for nearly every position, every year. As one example, among the top-10 RBs from 2008, only Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Thomas repeated their top-10 performance in 2009. That's a lowly 30%. If you think I'm cherry picking to make a point, please go look for yourself. Research the turnover rate among the fantasy elite from year-to-year. You'll see that more than half the players fail to repeat their elite performance the following year.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #2: Last Year's Stats Don't Equal This Year's Stats but they Make a Good Starting Point. Ok, now that you're ready to purge your player rankings of anyone who finished in the top-10 last year let's slow down. After all, we need some baseline from which we can adjust player projections either upward or downward. The logical place to start is with each player's stat line from 2009. Begin with last year's stats as your baseline and then try to guesstimate as to what will make a player better or worse this year. The remaining 5 tips will help you decide whether a player should be credited with projections that are better or worse than what the finished with in 2009.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #3: For the times they-are-a-changin'. The one factor that will impact how a fantasy player will perform in 2009 is "change." But change has dozens of variables. Here are just a few examples for your consideration: There were 3 NFL head coaching changes and 7 offensive coordinator changes this offseason. How will that impact a player who plays for one of those teams? Will the new coaching staff run more? Pass more?... Did any teams improve their offensive line dramatically? Are there any teams that play a soft schedule vs. run defenses? Every player got a year older... for some young players that means another year of valuable NFL experience. For other older players, that means another year of physical pounding. Free agent signings are always an impact. Some teams lost good players while others added those players. What will be the effect of rookies on any given team? In doing your own 2010 fantasy football projections, it's your job to research and think about these changes.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #4: Load up on Fantasy Football News. You can find loads of free fantasy football news all over the internet. After all, NFL news is a commodity, so you won't have a shortage of places from which to collect and analyze that news. The real trick is not in finding the news. The hard part is to figure out how that news applies to NFL players. More specifically, how will the changes we noted in Tip #3 affect the projections and rankings you have for each player. That's where the real fun begins!

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #5: Read Till Your Eyes Bleed. As you begin to digest the news, you'll start to form opinions about players for the 2010 season. Opinions about some players will be stronger than others. And some of your opinions will be more daring than others. But I would encourage you to dig deeper as you start to formulate your opinions into projections. There is a verse in the Bible that says "iron sharpens iron." If that seems a bit to heady for an article on creating your own 2010 fantasy football projections, here is the point: Search the internet for differing opinions on players. In fact, if you think a particular player is a first-round fantasy bust, or maybe a breakout player you should spend a good deal of time reading opinions about that player that differ from yours. One of two things will happen. You will either change your mind (or at least temper your opinion) which is not a bad thing. Or you will become greater in your original conviction about that player. In other words, you will have a stronger sense of why you love or hate a particular player.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #6: Do Projections for Every Draftable Player. Now that you've done your research and you've put hours of thought into it it's time to commit your opinions to paper. Using a spreadsheet, do projections for every player that you think is draftable. As a rule of thumb, it should be about 250 players for a basic 12-team league. That includes team defenses, but not IDPs. Putting a basic scoring system to the player projections should give you player rankings for each position. Simple enough. If you want to turn those player rankings into a 2010 customized cheat sheet, I can show you how to do that as well.

Fantasy Football Rankings Tip #7: Gut Check An Exercise in Thinking Outside the Box. As you look at your final projections and rankings, it might make you a little nervous to see some funny looking projections and rankings. Congratulations you did them correctly. You have to think outside the box you gotta zig when everyone else zags to be successful in fantasy football.

I hope you put these tips to good use this year in doing your 2010 fantasy football rankings. Please feel free to drop me a line at info@draftsharks.com and let me know how you made out. Good luck this year!

The National Football League's 2010 Draft took place this past week in New York City, with many calling it either the Big Twelve Draft or more specifically the Oklahoma Draft. All of the top four and five of the top six picks came from the Big Twelve Conference. Three of those top four came from the University of Oklahoma, including the number one draft pick Sam Bradford to the St. Louis Rams. It was the best first round draft for a single conference in draft history, based on number of picks alone.

The Big Twelve conference includes a few easily recognizable football universities followed by a number of schools with highly competitive football programs. It is a difficult conference from top to bottom. The University of Oklahoma, The University of Texas, and The University of Nebraska all have rich football traditions. They each claim multiple national championships, Oklahoma with the most at seven (though more unofficially), and conference championships. They bring in the most money into the conference and the have historically provided the most talent to the NFL draft from the conference.

It was no different in this year's draft. However, along with the top football programs in the conference, Oklahoma State University notably provided two of the first round draft picks. In the end, it was the first time in draft history for one conference to be represented by the first four draft picks. It was also the first time the Big Twelve conference had nine players drafted in the first round. The number one draft pick was Sam Bradford, quarterback at Oklahoma. He will put on the St. Louis Rams jersey next season. It was the first time a player from the Big Twelve was selected number one, yet it was all but formality this year. His name had been connected with the St. Louis front office for days prior to the draft, making it hardly a surprise when his name was finally announced in Radio City Music Hall.

The University of Oklahoma did not stop there. Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was chosen third by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Trent Williams, Oklahoma's offensive tackle, was picked up by the Washington Redskins at number four. A fourth OU player, tight end Jermaine Gresham, was taken 21st by the Cincinnati Bengals. It was the first time in OU school history to have four first round picks, another record.

Not to give any slight to Ndamukong Suh, defensive tackle from Nebraska. He went to the Detroit Lions at the number two slot, and could easily have gone number one had any number of teams other than St. Louis had the top pick. He was widely considered the best talent in the draft. Although high skilled himself, Bradford offered a specific skill that the Rams desperately needed. After failing to pick two big-name quarterbacks in the past two NFL drafts that were still available when the Rams had picks, the team's fan base was clamoring for the front office to finally pick up a star quarterback. Those two quarterbacks have since gone on to lead their teams to turnarounds seasons and postseason success.

Rounding out the top six was Russell Okung, offensive tackle from Oklahoma State University. He was picked up sixth by the Seatle Seahawks. Also from OSU in the first round was highly-touted wide receiver Dez Bryant at number 24 to the Dallas Cowboys. With his skill, this was a steal of a pick for the Cowboys.

Texas and Missouri rounded out the first round picks for the Big 12 Conference with defensive back Earl Thomas going to Seattle at number 14 and linebacker Sean Witherspoon going to the Atlanta Hawks at number 19, respectively.

It appears that a lot of Big 12 Conference fans will be picking up a sports package in high definition through satellite TV this coming NFL season. They won't want to miss their rookies in all the action. If you are a Big 12 fan or merely a football fan, you can join them and get the NFL Sunday Ticket, a satellite TV package that gives you every single game all season.

The modern University of Florida was created in 1905 when Florida passed the Buckman Act. This act abolished the state's existing publicly supported educational institutions and consolidated them all into the all male "University of the State of Florida."

Jack Forsythe coached the new Florida team for three winning seasons which included a 6-0 over the Gainesville Athletic club in their first game between the two rivals. The official name of the university was shortened to the "University of Florida" in 1909, and the coaching changed to George Pyle's command at this time. During this same period of time, the Gators adopted their orange and blue team colors which represented a combination of the blue and white of the old Florida Agricultural College and the orange and black of the old East Florida Seminar, which were the university's predecessors before the consolidation.

The 1910 season had the Gators see many of their rivals for the first time. The 1911 Gators ended up defeating The Citadel, Clemson and the College of Charleston. They finished the 1911 season 5-0-1, which is the only undefeated football seasons in Gator history. The Gators joined the Southern Conference in 1922.

The 1923 and 1924 seasons were coached by James Van Fleet and let the team to its first national notoriety. In 1923, Florida shocked the nation when they beat the heavily favored Alabama 16-6 in one of the biggest upsets of the year. The 1924 Gators tied Georgia Tech and Texas which were heralded as powerhouse teams.

Coach Charlie Bachman led the team to even greater national recognition in 1928, and in 1929. He helped lead the Gator team to finish with the highest season win totals for 32 years. 1928 also gave the Gators their first All-American, Dale Van Sickel, who later became Florida's first member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1975.

The Gators joined the Southeastern Conference in December of 1932 along with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. Dutch Stanley replaced Bachman as the head coach in 1933, which was the first SEC football season for the Gators. Stanley was only 26 years old at the time and had been a player for the Gators in 1928. This coach later resigned under fan pressure in 1935 and was replaced by Josh Cody. Tom Lieb replaced Cody in 1940. During World War II, many of the top players went to serve in the war, and as a result the team suffered. There was one highlight during this dark time as the Gators produced their second All-American, Fergie Ferguson in 1941.

The Gators kindly call the next staff changes era. The Bob Woodruff era lasted from 1950 to 1959. The Ray Graves era lasted from 1960 to 1969. Doug Dickey took over and led the team from 1970 to 1978. Charley Pell became the head coach in 1979 and was coach until 1989. Steve Spurrier led the team from 1990 to 2001. Ron Zook took over from 2002 to 2004 and the Gators are now coached by Urban Meyer. Meyer took over in 2005 and is the present day coach for the Gators.

For 34 years Florida State University head football coach Bobby Bowden has helped his team become one of the most storied college football programs of all time. During his tenure the Seminoles have won two national championships and 12 ACC (Atlantic Coastal Conference) titles. Bowden has also led the Seminoles to 14 straight ten win seasons in which the team finished ranked in the top five each season. One of his biggest accomplishments is the fact that Bowden only had one losing season as the head coach of Florida State.

It's hard to believe that the man who built the program to be what it is today will be forced to step away after the Seminoles bowl game this year. With Bowden stepping down and retiring offensive coordinator Jumbo Fisher will be taking over as the head coach. Fisher was deemed Bowden successor at the end of the 2007 season and was slated to be paid $5 million if he had not received the head coaching position by 2011. After the season ending loss to rival Florida Gators, Bowden was given the option to step down and take on a lesser role by being an ambassador for the team or retire.

Even though Bowden and the Seminoles dominated most of the late 80's and pretty much all the 90's lately his team has not been a championship contender and have run into major academic problems off the field that could eventually vacate 14 of Bowden's wins from the 2006-07 seasons. As of now the ruling to vacate the wins are still under appeal, which Florida State hopes to win.

In all it was a great run for Bowden, as he accumulated the second highest win total in Division 1 FBS with 388 wins, just five shy of the legendary Joe Paterno who still coaches at Penn State. Part of Bowden's epic tale was told in the blockbuster movie We Are Marshall which told the story of how Bowden helped the young Thundering Herd of Marshall University rebuild after the tragic plane crash in 1970 that claimed 75 lives including 37 players and eight coaches. At the time Bowden coached at nearby West Virginia University and allowed the new coaches at Marshall to use his office, playbooks and any game film he had to help prepare them for their upcoming season after the plane crash that not only shocked the small West Virginia community but the world.

During football season in America, every saturday is a new adventure for fans. Millions of fans attend tailgate parties and games or go to their favorite restaurant or bar to cheer on their school in that day's football game. Fans dress in war paint, wear jerseys of star players and root for their team whether win or lose!

Some college football fans proclaim that college football is much more exciting than watching professional football. This is most likely because these fans are rooting on schools that they actually graduated from. To most fans, nothing proves their allegiance to their allumni more than rooting for their football team whether they win or lose.

College football is governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The NCAA governs college football by dividing them into 4 divisions. These division are division 1, division 1 AA, division 2 and division 3. The largest division (one) includes all the major colleges and universities. Division 2 and 3 houses the smaller schools including newly started college football programs.

America's passion for college football is no secret.Majorfootball schools regularly draw larger crowds than even the best and most prolific professional football teams of the NFL. Tennessee regularlydraws over 90,000 fans to their games. Florida, USC and LSU alsoregularly draw massivecrowds on Saturdays.

When the regular season is over, college football enters into Bowl Season. This is where teams are to selected to play in bowls which are sponsored by major companies and corportations. The number one and two ranked schools play for the National Championship whilethe teamswho finished the regular season ranked 3-8 playin the "BCS" bowls. BCS stands for Bowl Championship and it is an acronym for the Division 1A football conference.

If you want to experience true sports fans, simply go to a college football game on Saturdays and join the crowd!

The Honduras national football team, nicknamed Los Catrachos, is the national team of Honduras and is controlled by the Federacin Nacional Autnoma de Ftbol de Honduras (founded in 1951). They are a rising team in CONCACAF, an ascent that started with their third place finish in the 2001 Copa Amrica behind the first place Colombia and the Second Place Mexico , where they were a late invitee, due to a withdrawal by Argentina one day prior to kickoff. In October 2009, they confirmed qualification to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will be their first appearance in the competition since 1982.

Honduras played its first game against Guatemala on September 14th 1921, where they unfortunately lost by a large margin.

The Football War started after a qualifying game for the 1970 World Cup against El Salvador. After massive rioting between the fans, on 14 July 1969, the Salvadoran army launched an attack against Honduras. A cease fire was put in effect six days later.

Honduras won the 1981 CONCACAF Championship. Honduras qualified for the World Cup in 1982 and 2009. They finished second in both the 1985 CONCACAF Championship and the 1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Honduras won the UNCAF Nations Cup twice in 1993 and 1995.

Since 1993, CONMEBOL has invited teams from other confederations to participate in their confederation championship, Copa Amrica. Honduras took part as one of the last minute teams added for Copa Amrica 2001. (Argentina dropped out one day before kickoff.) The team arrived only a few hours before the tournament's first game and with barely enough players. Despite the odds, Honduras progressed onto the quarter-final stage where they faced and defeated Brazil 2-0. In the semi-finals however, it was Colombia that knocked off Honduras, 0-2.

On October 14 2009, Honduras qualified for the 2010 World Cup finals, after a 1-0 win against El Salvador gave them the third automatic qualifying spot from the Fourth Round of CONCACAF Qualifying.

Mark Ingram received the Heisman Trophy in what has been the closest vote since the trophy was first awarded back in December 9th 1935. Runner up, Toby Gerhart, from Stanford University took second place by only 28 points and 5 first-place votes. The twenty two year-old sophomore from Alabama University was quite overwhelmed, and had to take a couple seconds to get it together before giving out his acceptance speech. The 5-10, 212 pound running back turned tearful during Saturday nights award ceremony in New York City. The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate football player each year. While it is not the only award given out to the best player of the year, none of the other awards are either as prestigious or receive as much media attention as the Heisman. Before Florida Gators Tim Tebow won his trophy in 2007, no other sophomore had ever received the prestigious award. But it seems like Tebow changed the tide for both 2008 winner, Sam Bradford from Oklahoma, and this years recipient, Mark Ingram, who are both sophomores. Ingram will also be the sixth player in the last 7 years to go on to play in the BCS national championship game. Ingram and the Crimson Tide will face Heisman third place runner up Colt McCoy and the Texas Longhorns on January 7th in the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, California, for the National Championship. Alabamas Team is currently in the top seat and the favorite to win the title. Online Sportsbook industry leader, Instant Action Sports, has them as favorite by 5pts, with an expected total of 45. But one cannot take things so lightly. The Longhorns have proven themselves a very strong and confident team this season, and if McCoy can bring some of his charisma and stamina to the field, he might very well guide Texas to a National Championship. Ingram, who grew up in Flint, Michigan is the son of NFL player and Super Bowl Star of the same name. In a sour note, Mark Ingram Sr. celebrated his sons achievement from a New Yorks city holding facility, for he had been charged with bank fraud and money laundering and found guilty in 2007. Essential to Alabamas offense, Ingram has a school record 1542 rushing yards, gaining 6.8 yards per carry and scoring 18 touchdowns. On the other hand, runner-up, Toby Gerhart, ran for 1763 yards and scored 26 touchdowns. The running back from Stanford University is not only a terrific player; he is also an outstanding student. But perhaps Alabamas excellent season-long performance attracted more votes than Gerharts terrific numbers on and off the field. If we leave academics behind, one must also consider the last chance Ingram had to prove he was worthy of the Heisman: the game against Florida in Bamas final route to the BCS Championship Bowl. Not only did Alabamas offense prove versatile and effective against Floridas then-top-ranked defense, but Ingram ran 113 yards, and scored 3 touchdowns to close his season. Needless to say, many sport journalists (who at the end are the ones who cast the votes for the award) had their eyes on that game, and on Ingrams beautiful performance. Alabamas Crimson Tide coach, Nick Saban, was quite enthusiastic about Mark Ingram taking home the trophy. Alabamas football program is one of the most respected in the United States, but it had yet to have one of its players occupy a top three position in Heisman trophy history. After the ceremony Coach Saban stated: The legacy of Alabama football certainly had a void filled. Mark Ingram faces what might very well be the toughest and certainly the most important game of the season on January 7th. The Longhorns are a solid contender, one that neither Alabama nor any serious football fan will take for granted. Bottom line is that Ingram, the finest offensive weapon in the best ranked team in the Nation, is due to have an outstanding National Championship game performance to top off one heck of a great season.

Live NFL games On The Internet

Hey NFL Fans - Welcome to my Information and Review article for the "Watch NFL On the Internet" television program. My name is Josh and I wanted to provide some helpful info on this Brand New "Internet Sports" television product.

See -Not only do I travel, but my favorite NFL Team gets BLACKED OUT Like the PLAGUE!

Watch NFL on the Internet - Complete Information and Review For The "Internet Sports" Program.

So I guess you could say, that I REALLY need something like this. And since I write articles for my Green Energy Group -I figured I might as well share something on the "Entertainment" sidr of things.

Basically, the Internet Sports program that I am talking about is really a satellite software program that we download to our PC/Laptop. BUT -its NOT like those ridiculous sites that offer us pirated or stolen satellite signals.

Its totally legit. THANK YOU LORD!!

I think that the "World Wide Internet Sports" company actually pays for the signals or acess to them. But all I really know for sure , is that I get to watch my favorite NFL Team on the Internet - NO MATTER where Im at or where they are playing. Even if the Game is Blacked Out -or in another state.

And no, its not EXACTLY like the NFL Sunday Ticket - I mean, you can definitely watch EVERY NFL game - but there are no crazy fee's, like spending $100's for EVERY SPORTS. And for 1 season! Actually -

There Are NO MONTHLY FEE'S

Which is probably the only way that my wife would allow me to have something like this -I remember asking about the NFL unday Ticket, I didnt make it past "...ticket".

So, we get to watch every single NFL game on the Internet. And if you want, you can still watch the games on your family room tv -just connect the laptop or pc to your regular television set.

All the channels are in HD TV - and that is AWESOME.

AND - we get to watch 100's of other sports too. From the 4 Major sports -NFL, MLB, NHL , NBA - Golf Soccer, Racing Fighting -COLLEGE SPORTS!

Basically, if the sports is shown on TV somewhere, we get to watch - even Sports Events like, Playoffs ,BCS Bowls Games, March Madness and the Majors and Grand Slams too.

Its great -especially if you arent home alot - and even if you are. I guess that it never hurts to be able to watch different sports on our Laptop/PC's.

There are TONS of other features that I am sure I forgot. I really just wanted to provide some ifnromation -or atleast the basics. I am not an expert on watching NFL on the Internet or anything like that -but I am DEFINITELY a HUGE NFL FAN.

And I like the Internet Football program - If you want to check out the actual site where I found out about this "Internet Sports" package -here is the link:

Watch NFL Football Online

From Arizona to Pittsburgh and evry single NFL Team in between - If you need a better option for watching your favorite NFL Team online - I have a solution. For me personally, I have found that traveling and the NFL Blackout Rules seem to create the most aggravation when it comes to NFL Football Fans being able to watch NFL Fotball.

I travel - ALL THE TIME. Over 200 Days out of the year I am on the road. Ever since the economy took its little nose-dive - I have had to pick up the where the laid off employee's left off.

Watch NFL Football Online

That means that I now have to do Inventory - AND DELIVERY. Who would have thought that a down economy would mean MORE Money for me.

Unfortunately , more money has meant LESS NFL Football.

I have become dependant on this "Online NFL" software program. Its a miracle that I can still stay up to date with my favprite NFL Teams and the best games.Even though I might have to watch alot of games while counting small boxes of auto parts -or If Im lucky, I watch NFL Football online, while in my Hotel room. And unless I just happen to be in the state of California - I absolutely need this Online Football program in order to watch my favorite NF Team.

Is NFL Online Similar to NFL Sunday Ticket?

I often get asked if this "NFL Football Online" software program is similar to the "NFL Sunday Ticket" package that our satellite television providers offer us.

At first it may seem like they are just alike.

Until you compare certain things -Like pricing - Satellite Sports packages can cost $100's -For EACH Sport, and for ONLY 1 season.

The "Online Sports" software program costs NO where near that much -In faqct, there are ABSOLUTELY NO MONTHLY FEE'S.

And then we have the amount of sports options that are included. The Sunday Ticket does offer ALL the NFL Football games.

But the Online Football program offers all the NFL Games too - Along with 100's of other sports - Actually -there are over 3,000 Channels of live sports entertainment options.

AND - we can watch NFL Football Online. Which is HUGE. I couldnt do it any other way.

These are just a few of the benefits of this awesome "Online Sports" package. You can check out the actual Information and Review Site for the Online Sports Program here:
