The last-eight clash in Port Elizabeth brings together two nations famed for a free-flowing, attacking style ofplay. Will this finally be the year'? They're not quite a favorite that's somewhere between Brazil and Spainright now by most accounts but they're certain lurking in that second tier, somewhere behind the Braspanafavorite and the darkhorse tag. While most won't predict it, very few would be surprised if the Netherlands finally
get their World Cup.
The Oranje made a decent, if unconvincing, start to the campaign, as they just managed to hold onto their lead asthey visited Macedonia. They were having trouble finding the breakthrough as a sturdy Macedonia defence stood
strong. However Holland broke the deadlock just after the interval with John Heitinga's headed effort.
And while the names will dominate, Eljero Elia is a budding European star whose electricity' is positively
Robben-esque. Ibrahim Afellay, Ryan Babel also: young, gifted, technical.
The Netherlands team enjoyed a 2:0 win against Denmark in their first group stage match of the competition whichtook place last week at the renowned Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. Danish player Daniel Agger scored an own
goal at the 46th minute while lucky number seven, Dirk Kuyt managed to score right at the end of the match. TheDutch gained an early lead in the match which they were able to keep hold of throughout the game with help frommidfielder Wesley Sneijder and forward Robin Van Persie.
Netherlands are by many considered to be an outsider for the 2010 World Cup.Joris Mathijsen during Holland'straining camp in Austria and the Hamburg man was full of confidence ahead of this summer's tournament.
"We're convinced that we can be successful in South Africa. If Greece can win the European Championships, thanNetherlands can certainly win the World Cup," Mathijsen was quoted.
"There are about seven or eight teams that have set their sights on winning the tournament and Netherlands are oneof those teams. It's all about one thing this summer and that's winning the World Cup. Several teams will leave thetournament disappointed."
The former AZ star also took the time to discuss Oranje's performances in the recent past and pointed out that theDutch have learnt from their mistakes.
"We have learnt a lot from the past two big tournaments and that will be very helpful this summer. We can't besatisfied after some good games in the group phase. We will not get carried away this time around.
"It's crucial to be mentally strong at a tournament like this. We were eliminated in the previous two tournamentsdue to details. However, we were sent home in the early stages of the tournament on two occasions after impressingduring the group phase."
For more information about netherlands world cup tickets;

The final countdown of the World Cup has begun and the preparations are in their finalization stage. All eyes are on the host nation, for their enthusiasm and the love for the game, and the Vicente Del Bosque's men, for their unchallenged rule in the sport for the last three years. The only major slip-up by the Spanish National side came when they lost the Semi-final of the Confederations Cup last year against USA. But, still all the pundits are backing Spain as the favourites for the World Cup and quite a few have tagged other teams, like Germany and England. One thing is for sure, that if Spain does not emerge victorious then it would be a major upset in the World of Football.

Therefore, it is very important to look at the strengths and the weaknesses of the Spanish side. We shall start with the goal-keeper, the basic defence line, and the Spanish have the Super-Man Iger Casillas as their first choice. Right now, he is regarded as the best in the world in his particular position, and the Spanish could not have hoped for a better choice. He is the man to be worried by all the other teams for his potential to bring out outstanding performances on many occasions. He has already proven his mettle for the Real Madrid side and for his National team in the last Euro Cup. His ability to save important goals in matches and to do amazing feats on the front of goals is definitely an advantage for the Spanish side.

The Spanish defence, the wall in front of the keeper, is also world class. The probable first team choices would be Carlos Puyol, Garrard Pique, Sergio Ramos and Arbeloa. All these players have been playing for the world class club sides and they all have the potential to challenge any sort of attack. The keeper could not hope for any better defensive line than this one, which would make the job of Casillas much easier. Puyol has been the captain of Barcelona side for quite some time now and his confidence must be sky-high, because of the club performances he had been getting. Garrard Pique has proved to be another excellent defender for Barcelona, and he is now the regular first team choice for Guardiola. Sergio Ramos and Arbeloa both play for Real Madrid side and they have proven to be very good while attacking as well as defending. The back five, including the keeper, would be a nightmare for any other team in the Finals.

Coming to the midfield, again, the Spanish side has some World-Class midfielders. Sergio Busquests, a Barcelona youngster, would play a pivotal role in helping the defenders and holding the ball in the midfield. Although he is still young, but he has his confidence, as he was the regular first choice for the manager throughout the year. Xavi, the anchorman in the midfield, is the best player in the Spanish side right now. His ability to play the ball all over the field and his insight to look for key passes in the field, make him the best among his counterparts. He is the one to worry about, as he can disrupt any sort of defence. Andreas Iniesta and David Silva would be playing the role of wingmen, and again they are among the best in their respective positions. This midfield clearly indicates that the Spanish mid-field has the potential to hold the ball for long periods, to unsettle their opponents, and make a move when there would be an opening.

The strike force of Spain, David Villa and Fernando Torres, both are the deadliest and the best in their positions. Their ball control, passing and finishing, everything is exceptional. A terrifying duo, both these strikers would give any opponent the hardest times of their lives. Thus, the Spanish Side for the World Cup looks strong and steady, and it seems that right now nothing can rise to the challenge of the Del Bosque's side.

Association football is one the most prominent sport in Brazil. The national team of this wonderful country has won the FIFA World Cup tournament on a record number of five times in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. It is also the only team to succeed in the qualifying rounds for every World Cup competition. Thirdly, Brazil is amongst the favorites to win the trophy every time they have made it to the competition.

Pele, one of the most recognized footballers in history, led Brazil to three World Cup wins and is the top scorer of all time in the sport. After Brazil won its third World Cup, they kept the Jules Rimet Trophy permanently within their garb. All of the contemporary talents in the national team prominent in the football world include Robinho, Ronaldinho, and Kaka, as well as Marta in the women's game. Some of these players can be considered as super-stars, achieving a celebrity-like status on the international level. All these stars have signed whopping sports contracts with regional clubs, along with advertisement and endorsement contracts to the tune of millions of Euros.

Once the residents of Brazil return to their home town this summer, they will be welcomed by nothing less than a jovial chaos and celebrations in the streets of Rio. This is because June the 15th marks the day when soccer's ultimate powerhouse will start its quest for a sixth World Cup title when it faces North Korea in the group stage of South Africa 2010.

Brazil is one of those parts of the world where football truly is life. People in Brazil forget everything when it comes to soccer. The rivalries are strong and the fans are fanatical, the weather, the beaches of Rio, everything in the country is perfect for football. Everyone in Brazil aspires to grow up and be a football star, sometimes these amazing young players settle for simpler lives, but once in a while a superstar does rise to acclaim international glory. Those with academic ambitions leave the country for greener pastures aboard otherwise they stay in Brazil and pursue their football dreams.

One of the most memorable achievements by a Brazilian include superstar striker Ronaldo's dominant eight goal performance in the 2002 World Cup helping Brazil win its record-setting fifth title in football history. He conquered everything he could possibly achieve as a player, gaining so much popularity that only Michael Jackson could imagine. He set a new world cup record with his 15 World Cup goals in 2002. The 2002 victory capped a string of three straight appearances in the final stages of the FIFA World Cup, beginning in 1994 with a championship followed by a loss to France in the 1998 final. The streak ended in the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup when France defeated the Brazilians in a heart-breaker for the South American nation. It was that loss that led to a restructuring of the team.

Shortly after the tournament, Dunga who was the 1994 World Cup captain for Brazil was named the head coach for the team. Since his appointment, he led Brazil to the 2007 Copa America Cup, the team's fourth South American title in the past five tournaments and a whopping achievement of eighth championship wins. Dunga also coached Brazil to its second consecutive Confederations Cup title in 2009. For South Africa 2010, Dunga has collected some controversial choices when the former captain revealed the 23-man squad for South Africa 2010. Many household names including Ronaldinho, Adriano, and Ronaldo, were overlooked to make room for a new generation of stars led by Real Madrid midfielder Kaka along with strikers Robinho and Luis Fabiano, of Santos and Sevilla respectively. But despite the big name omissions, Brazil still has a number of savvy veterans including the Inter Milan trio of defenders Lucio and Maicon and goaltender Julio Cesar, who won the recent Champions League.

To win, the yellow-blue-and-green-clad team that gave the world Pele will firstly need to advance through to the second round of the Cup. Many football pundits have called Brazil's group as the "Group of Death," which includes Ivory Coast, Portugal and North Korea. Brazil always comes in with a strong group but they usually go up the ladder as the favorites to clinch the trophy. In the last World Cup, Brazil did not have a mental preparation and a winning attitude. However, this time for South Africa 2010, Brazil have a new coach whose mentality seems much stronger.

The club was founded on 9 March 1908 as Football Club Internazionale Milano, following a "schism" from the Milan Cricket and Football Club (43 members). A group of Italians and Swiss (Giorgio Muggiani, a painter who also designed the club's logo, Bossard, Lana, Bertoloni, De Olma, Enrico Hintermann, Arturo Hintermann, Carlo Hintermann, Pietro Dell'Oro, Hugo and Hans Rietmann, Voelkel, Maner, Wipf, and Carlo Ardussi) were unhappy about the domination of Italians in the AC Milan team, and broke away from them, leading to the creation of Internazionale. From the beginning, the club was open to foreign players and thus lived up to its founding name.

The club won its very first Scudetto (championship) in 1910 and its second in 1920. The captain and coach of the first Scudetto was Virgilio Fossati, who was killed in World War I. In 1922 Inter were in Group B of the Serie A and came in last place after picking up only 11 points in the season. The last place team of each group was to be automatically relegated. The second last place teams were placed in a pre-relegation 'salvation' tournament. Inter and La Gazzetta dello Sport editor (Colombo) petitioned the FIGC to allow Inter to participate in Serie A the following year as a year in Serie B would have been financially detrimental. The FIGC saved Inter some weeks prior to the season starting by allowing them to remain in Serie A in 1923. Venezia, who had come in 3rd last in Group B ahead of Inter, were relegated in Inter's place. In 1928, during the Fascist era, the club was forced to merge with the Milanese Unione Sportiva and was renamed Ambrosiana SS Milano. They wore white shirts around this time with a red cross emblazoned on it. This shirt design was inspired by the flag and coat of arms of the city of Milan, which in turn is derived from the flag of the patron saint of Milan, St. Ambrose and dates back to the 4th century AD. The new upcoming President Oreste Simonotti decided to change name to AS Ambrosiana in 1929. However, supporters continued to call the team "Inter", and in 1931, new president Pozzani caved to shareholder pressure and changed the name to AS Ambrosiania-Inter.

Their first Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) was won in 193839, led by Giuseppe Meazza, after whom the San Siro stadium is officially named, and a fifth league championship followed in 1940, despite an injury to Meazza. After the end of World War II the club re-emerged under a name close to their original one, Internazionale FC Milano, which they have kept ever since. They Eliminated Barcelona the current champions of the Champions League in the semi finals and qualified for the Champions League final 2010.

In November 2007, it was decided that the 2010 final would be the first Champions League final to be played on a Saturday, rather than the traditional Wednesday.
The Brazil national football team is the national team of Brazil and is managed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that represents Brazil in international football competitions. They are the most successful national football team in the history of the World Cup, with five championships (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002). A common quip about football is: "The English invented it, the Brazilian perfected it." Currently ranked second by FIFA, Brazil is consistently among the strongest football nations in the world and is the only team to have played in every World Cup.

The first match of the Brazil national football team is generally considered to be a 1914 match between a Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo select team and the English club Exeter City. Brazil won 20 with goals by Oswaldo Gomes and Osman, whilst others claim a 33 draw. In contrast to future successes, the nation's early appearances were far from brilliant, partly due to internal strife within Brazilian football over professionalism, which rendered the Brazilian Football Confederation unable to field full-strength teams.

For the 1954 FIFA World Cup, in Switzerland, the Brazilian team was almost completely renovated, so as to forget the Maracan defeat, but still had a group of good players, including Nlton Santos, Djalma Santos, and Didi. Brazil didn't go very far though. The quarterfinals saw the favorites Hungary beat Brazil 42 in one of the ugliest matches in football history, which would become infamous as the Battle of Berne.

Brazil, to the surprise of many, went 24 years without winning a World Cup or even participating in a final. Their struggles ended at the 1994 tournament in the United States, where a solid, if unspectacular side headed by the likes of Romrio, Bebeto, Dunga, Taffarel, and Jorginho won the World Cup for a then-record 4th time. Highlights of their campaign included a 10 victory over the hosts in the round of 16, a sensational 32 win over the Dutch in the quarter-finals (often cited as the game of the tournament) and a 10 win over the Swedes in the semis. This set up a classic confrontation, Brazil vs. Italy, in the final. After a dour and unexciting 00 draw, penalty kicks loomed, and when Roberto Baggio lifted his spot kick over the crossbar, Brazil were champions once again. A new era of dominance had begun.

Brazil finished runner-up in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. After a very respectable campaign during which they beat Netherlands on penalties in the semi-final following a 11 draw with goals from Ronaldo and Patrick Kluivert, the team lost to hosts France 30 in a problematic final game. Brazilian marking at defensive set pieces was poor, and Zindine Zidane was able to score two headed goals from France's corner kicks. Also, Brazilian star Ronaldo suffered an epileptic seizure a few hours before the match. Many criticized the decision to reinstate Ronaldo into the starting lineup as he put in a poor performance.

Fuelled by the scintillating play of the "Three R's" (Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho), Brazil won its fifth championship at the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in South Korea and Japan. When the groups were drawn, Brazil seemed to have been lucky; Their adversaries would be Turkey, China and Costa Rica. At the end, it turned out that Turkey finished the tournament in third place. Brazil went on beating all three opponents, scoring 11 goals and conceding only three, and topping the group.

In Brazil's opening game against Turkey, Rivaldo fell to the ground clutching his face after Turkey's Hakan nsal had kicked the ball at his legs. Hakan nsal, who had already been booked, was sent off while Rivaldo jumped to his feet and continued playing. Rivaldo escaped suspension but was fined 5,180 for play-acting, he became the first player to be punished in FIFA's crackdown on "simulation" and "diving".

Next they defeated Belgium 20, in the most difficult match for Brazil in the tournament. Against England in the quarter finals, Brazil won 21. Ronaldinho scored the winner with a remarkable lofted free kick and also assisted teammate Rivaldo for their first goal, but was sent off for stamping on the right ankle of England's Danny Mills. The semifinal was against Turkey, which Brazil had faced in their group. Again, this match was difficult, as Brazil won 10 with a goal by Ronaldo. Rivaldo had scored one goal each in all five game up to this one but did not manage to hit the target in the sixth. He had seemed all set to repeat Jairzinhos great achievement in 1970 when he scored in every game of the World Cup.

The final was between two of the most successful teams in the competition's history: Germany and Brazil. Incredibly, the teams had never played each other in the World Cup before, besides a match between Brazil and East Germany in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn had been the tournament's best keeper, but could not maintain that level of play, as Ronaldo vanquished his France '98 demons, scoring both goals in the Brazilian 20 triumph.

The Brazilian team won the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa. Although they started with a shaky victory over Egypt with a 43 win with a last minute penalty as Egypt is also credited as the only African team to score three goals against Brazil, they comfortably beat the USA, as well as Italy, both with a 30 scoreline. After beating South Africa in the semi-final with a late free kick, they went on to a rematch against USA in the final which they won 32, after coming in 20 down at half-time, to seal their third Confederations Cup title. Kak was named as the player of the tournament and Lus Fabiano won the top goalscorer award with five goals in five matches.

Brazil does not have a home national stadium like many other national teams and as such rotate their home World Cup qualifying matches through various venues: the Estdio do Maracan or Estdio Olmpico Joo Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, the Estdio do Morumbi in So Paulo, the Mineiro in Belo Horizonte, the Estdio Man Garrincha in the capital Braslia and the Estdio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre. Some smaller provincial stadia were used in the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Since September 2006, Brazil have played many international friendlies at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in London. After their initial 3-0 win over Argentina drew a near sell-out attendance and was screened live on BBC Two, Brazil have returned to the ground regularly, facing Portugal and Sweden and lastly against Italy in February 2009.

Brazil's first team colours were white with blue collars, but following defeat in the Maracan at the 1950 World Cup, the colours were criticised for lacking patriotism. With permission from the Brazilian Sports Confederation, the newspaper Correio da Manh held a competition to design a kit incorporating the four colours of the Brazilian flag. The winning design was a yellow jersey with green trim and blue shorts with white trim drawn by Aldyr Garcia Schlee, a nineteen year old from Pelotas. The new colours were first used in March 1954 in a match against Chile, and have been used ever since.

The use of blue as the away kit colour dates from the 30s, but it became the permanent second choice accidentally in the 1958 World Cup final. Brazil's opponents were Sweden, who also wear yellow, and a draw gave to the home team Sweden the right to play in yellow. Brazil, who travelled with no spare kit, hurriedly purchased a set of blue shirts and sewed on emblems cut from their yellow shirts. Now lets have a look over Brazil traditional rivalry.

The Argentina and Brazil football rivalry is a highly competitive sports rivalry that exists between the national football teams of the two countries, as well as their respective sets of fans. Games between the two teams, even those that are only friendly matches, are often marked by notable and sometimes controversial incidents. This Rivalry is also called 'The Battle of the South Americans'.

The origins of the football rivalry between Argentina and Brazil can be traced to before football became so popular in both countries. During the colonization of the Americas, Spain and Portugal often fought each other to gain control over vast territories.

Today few remember wars and other political confrontations between both countries, and only recall matches, victories, goals and other sport-related incidents. Their rivalry is found in almost all sports, but a men's football match between Argentina and Brazil is one that neither side wants to lose, and often acquires more importance than the championship within which it takes place. To exemplify the intensity of this rivalry, is enough to remember that after the 1946 incidents, the two teams did not play against each other for ten years; either team would decline to play a given cup so that they would never have to play against the neighbouring country.

After a 3-1 victory over Argentina in Rosario, on September 5, 2009, Brazil qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. To watch the thrill now fans can get the Brazil world cup tickets online.

Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels ostensibly squashed the possibility of starting newly acquired quarterback Brady Quinn to begin the 2010 season, declaring that Kyle Orton will remain the Broncos' starting signal caller moving forward. Though McDaniels admitted that Quinn will get a shot to at least compete for the job, it looks like the organization is settled on keeping Orton as their main quarterback - at least for this season.

The declaration is a bit puzzling, however, as the Broncos seemed to have high hopes for Quinn after trading for him earlier this offseason. While Kyle Orton is a serviceable quarterback that can win if he's surrounded by good players and a solid defense, he certainly isn't the type that is going to turn many heads with his throwing ability. Quinn, on the other hand, is a former first-rounder with a cannon for an arm and the ambition to start. Almost immediately after landing in Denver, Quinn made the declaration that he hopes to be able to start in the near future, which is exactly what you would like to hear from a young player trying to make a splash in the league. For now, it seems that his wishes are to be put on hold as the Broncos stick with Orton.

This would be more than understandable if Quinn was still in his first couple of years in the league, when quarterbacks are not only likely to fail but are flat out expected to, but Quinn is no longer really a young quarterback. Quinn now enters his fourth season in the NFL, which is about the time that quarterbacks are expected to start living up to the hype before whispers of being a bust start fluttering about their every maneuver. No matter what happens, though, the quarterback situation in Denver could even make <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.stubhub.com/denver-broncos-tickets/">Denver Broncos tickets</a> a more intriguing entity as we move closer to the draft and the upcoming regular season.

Just because Quinn has more talent, however, doesn't mean that he is ready for the starting job; plenty of talented players fall by the wayside in favor of more cerebral players who can better read complex defenses. But Quinn also hasn't had much time to play with the talent level that the Broncos have and it would be unwise to not at least give him a legitimate chance at starting. With wide receivers like Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal, it seems possible that Quinn could help the Broncos reach their offensive potential, as Quinn's big arm should eventually expand the playbook and open up routes downfield.

Though Orton may be better for the extreme short-term, as Quinn adjusts to a new scheme and struggles with inexperience, it's difficult to imagine that Orton will be able to put the Broncos in position to challenge the top teams in the conference like Indianapolis, San Diego and New England. Without an overwhelming talent advantage in positions outside of quarterback, Orton simply doesn't have the ability to play with guys like Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers and Tom Brady. Quinn does potentially have that kind of upside, though, which is likely why the Broncos were willing to trade for him in the first place.

McDaniels is certainly a bright young coach who is trying to command some loyalty from veteran players by backing Orton. Still, the Broncos don't seem to have the pieces in place that will work with Orton's limited talent, making it a potentially risky play to blindly stick with Orton if he isn't willing to give a highly-touted player like Quinn a legitimate chance.

After taking the league by storm in 2009 by starting 6-0 in McDaniels' first six games as a head coach, the Broncos faded quickly down the stretch and Orton was largely exposed. McDaniels also took significant heat for benching their best player, Marshall, in the last game of the season with a potential playoff spot on the line. Moving forward, McDaniels' job could be in a precarious position and it might be best to keep all of his options at quarterback open moving into the new season.

Next week, NFL owners will take a look at new rule proposal related to overtime, which could create a hybrid between the current sudden-death style and the popular collegiate style. Though the NFL won't consider completely adopting the college rule, which guarantees that both teams will have a shot with the ball, owners may amend the rule so that the first team that gets that ball cannot end the game with a field goal.

Instead, if a the receiving team in overtime kicks a field goal, the second team will get a chance to match the field goal and send the game to sudden-death or win the game outright with a touchdown. The potential rule will only apply to postseason games, though it could certainly have a significant impact on how the playoffs shake out following the 2010 season.

The rule change proposal comes in the shadow of the NFC Championship game, in which future hall-of-fame quarterback Brett Favre had to watch from the sidelines as the New Orleans Saints marched down and kicked a field goal on the first possession of overtime. While the Saints went off to Miami to take down the Colts in the Super Bowl two weeks later, Brett Favre and his Minnesota Vikings were sent packing, leaving many fans discouraged and others angered. Even if <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.stubhub.com/nfl-tickets/">NFL tickets</a> remain under high demand regardless of the distaste for the overtime rule, the NFL is clearly trying to improve its game according to the wishes of fans.

Many fans would certainly favor the complete adoption of the college style of overtime, in which both teams are assured to get a possession and the second team that gets the ball has a chance to match the score of the first team. Though some can argue that this creates somewhat of an advantage for the second team, as they have the fortuitous position of already knowing what the first team did, the style has created for a bevy of memorable matchups. For fans of the game, there doesn't seem to be a better solution for overtime, whether for the NFL or for college.

But telling the other side of the story are the NFL players themselves, who are mainly opposed to changing the overtime rules for a couple main reasons. A main point of contention for the players is that they are more likely to get injured and already have a difficult time as it is recovering from a regular 60-minute game. As it is, teams are at a statistical disadvantage the week following an overtime game even with the current sudden-death format. With the college system, it would likely mean even more overtime football for the average overtime game, which is the main reason that the league isn't even considering the full adoption of the college overtime.

In an effort to please fans, however, the NFL has created its own version of the college format one that hopefully would capture the best of the college style without exposing players to more injury. But the main problem that they will look to overcome, the advantage of one team over another, is a challenge that may prove to be insurmountable. Under the new proposal, if the first team kicks a field goal and the second team matches it, the first team will still have an extra possession with the ball and a chance to end it with another field goal. Ultimately, there will be a game in which the same criticisms of the old format again surface, as fans will almost certainly see a second possession by the first team as an advantage.

The rule proposal also doesn't eliminate the concerns that players have about injuries and physical erosion heading into next week's game. Even if they don't intend to change the rule to include regular season play, teams that play in a lengthy overtime one week in the playoffs will be at a disadvantage heading into the next. While any overtime game will have this problem in the regular season, adding in a longer overtime in the playoffs will only extrapolate the disadvantages to the postseason, when the stakes are the highest.

Though fans typically want to see both sides get a crack on offense in overtime, defenses still have a chance to make a play and win the game for their team in sudden-death. Everyone wants to see a fair and competitive matchup, but adding in extra possessions for overtime isn't the way to do it.

More than a club. It's difficult to imagine this motto fitting any other team in the world as well as it does FC Barcelona. A Catalan sports club (though we know it from its football team) founded by a Swiss footballer while on a vacation to visit his uncle in Barcelona, the team was an immediate success through its mix of Catalan, Swiss, and English personalities and influences. Within two years, Bara had won its first hardware and has been, along with Real Madrid, one half of one of the world's greatest sporting rivalries for over 100 years, though league play between the two has only been going on for approx 80 years.

However, despite the seemingly endless lists of honors (including 18 La Liga championships, 4 Cup Winners' Cups, and 24 Copa del Rey championships) and stars that have played for the team (including Ronaldo, Romario, Rivaldo, Maradona, Cruyff, Stoitchkov, Figo, and Hagi, among others), what makes Bara more than a club is its history and relationship with the people of Catalonia.

The northeast region of Spain is famous for many things, but the prime reason we even know that it exists is a result of its location. For hundreds of years, Catalan was a major power in Mediterranean (and for several hundred years that meant "world") trade; a combination of industry and trade brought the region wealth for its people and gave them a "global" perspective of life in general. The willingness to accept others, improve with diversification, and appreciate outside perspectives and ideas helped forge the identity and philosophy of the region.

FC Barcelona was not only created in this environment, but it prospered by directly embracing the attitudes of the people who followed the team. Joan Gamper, the Swiss founder of the club, fell in love with Barcelona and its heritage, moving to the city and learning the Catalan language. In fact, Joan (a name familiar to Spanish citizens as a masculine name compared to the Joan Melissa Hart usage in America) is the name HANS Kamper took after moving to Spain, so devoted was he to his new culture.

Celebrating Catalan nationalism, however, wasn't acceptable to the powers in Madrid, and the team's success both on the field and off (fans have been extremely pleased and supportive of the team since its origins) was attacked by Castilian leaders from the time of the kingdom (with General de Rivera seizing power of the city, banning the flag and language from the region) to Franco's regime (with Franco's men-at-arms arresting and executing FC Barcelona's president, Josep Sunyol). Franco also had Barca's trophies destroyed, installed one of his men as president of the club, removed the Catalan flag from the team's crest, and changed the club's name from FC Barcelona to "Club de Football Barcelona" (that is, they took their identity and gave the club a Castilian Spanish name).

In 1943, after a threat from the director of state security, Barcelona lost to Franco's favorite team (he was obsessed with them), Real Madrid by a score of 11-1. For decades, the seat of Spanish power was intertwined with Real Madrid how many games and championships do you think Real "won" thanks to threats and bribes over the last century?

In 1953, the greatest player of the 50s, Alfredo Di Stefano, signed a deal with Bara to transfer over from River Plate. The Franco regime would not stand for this and the government stepped in, preventing the transfer. In the meantime, Santiago Bernabu (yes, that one) who was president of Real Madrid at the time, worked out a deal with Di Stefano that was more "government friendly" and signed the Argentinean great to play for Real instead. There was some wrangling back and forth over this travesty, with the government eventually giving in and saying Di Stefano could play 2 years for Real and 2 for Barca (with the implication being that after the 4 year contract was up, he'd stay with Real Madrid). However, behind-the-scenes pressure from the government made even this ridiculous compromise unavailable to Barcelona. Di Stefano went on to score 219 goals for Real Madrid, while the team won five champions leagues and eight La Ligas during his tenure with the club.

While all of this sounds like a long whine about the Castilian's actions against Barcelona, the real importance of the team's history is how well it has supported, and been supported by, its fans. Unlike the Basques, Catalans protested peacefully, both at the stadium and in their private lives. Instead of shutting down and shutting out the rest of the world, the Catalan region welcomed immigrants, expanded industry, and grew financially. Tourism exploded, the culture of arts and expression continued to expand, and the city's love for its team grew more with each challenge.

When listening to debate over the influence of foreigners' in football whether it involves Russian and American billionaires buying English teams, or non-Americans playing in MLS keep in mind that Barcelona's phenomenon of winning with Dutch managers, Brazilian stars, French and Cameroon international players is nothing new. The club has reflected its city's spirit of greatness through diversity, of playing a beautiful game in a style befitting its fans. It is one reason why both players and fans either "get it" and become Bara fans for life, or don't (and normally leave the city relatively quickly).

Despite every other major club in Europe carrying a sponsor's logo on their shirts, Bara displayed nothing but the team colors and crest for over 100 years. Just recently, one word has been introduced to the team's shirts: Unicef. This is a fitting way to summarize the history of FC Barcelona.

The Honduras national football team, nicknamed Los Catrachos, is the national team of Honduras and is controlled by the Federacin Nacional Autnoma de Ftbol de Honduras (founded in 1951). They are a rising team in CONCACAF, an ascent that started with their third place finish in the 2001 Copa Amrica behind the first place Colombia and the Second Place Mexico , where they were a late invitee, due to a withdrawal by Argentina one day prior to kickoff. In October 2009, they confirmed qualification to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will be their first appearance in the competition since 1982.

Honduras played its first game against Guatemala on September 14th 1921, where they unfortunately lost by a large margin.

The Football War started after a qualifying game for the 1970 World Cup against El Salvador. After massive rioting between the fans, on 14 July 1969, the Salvadoran army launched an attack against Honduras. A cease fire was put in effect six days later.

Honduras won the 1981 CONCACAF Championship. Honduras qualified for the World Cup in 1982 and 2009. They finished second in both the 1985 CONCACAF Championship and the 1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Honduras won the UNCAF Nations Cup twice in 1993 and 1995.

Since 1993, CONMEBOL has invited teams from other confederations to participate in their confederation championship, Copa Amrica. Honduras took part as one of the last minute teams added for Copa Amrica 2001. (Argentina dropped out one day before kickoff.) The team arrived only a few hours before the tournament's first game and with barely enough players. Despite the odds, Honduras progressed onto the quarter-final stage where they faced and defeated Brazil 2-0. In the semi-finals however, it was Colombia that knocked off Honduras, 0-2.

On October 14 2009, Honduras qualified for the 2010 World Cup finals, after a 1-0 win against El Salvador gave them the third automatic qualifying spot from the Fourth Round of CONCACAF Qualifying.

The Slovakia national football team represents Slovakia in international football and is controlled by the Slovak Football Association. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the Slovak Football Association was founded in 1993, and has been affiliated to both FIFA and UEFA since the same year.

The first official match of the first Slovak Republic (19391945) was played in Prague against Germany on 27 August 1939, and ended in a 2-0 victory for Slovakia. After the Second World War, the national football team was subsumed into the team of Czechoslovakia, and for over fifty years Slovakia played no matches as an independent country. During this period they contributed several key players to the Czechoslovak team, including the majority of the team that won the 1976 European Championships.

Slovakia's first official international after regaining independence was a 1-0 victory in Dubai over the United Arab Emirates on 2 February 1994. Their match back on Slovakian soil was the 4-1 defeat against Croatia in Bratislava on 20 April 1994. Slovakia suffered their biggest defeat since independence (6-0) on 22 June 1995, in Mendoza, against Argentina. Their biggest wins (7-0) have come against Liechtenstein in 2004 and San Marino in 2007.

Slovakia played in a major championship as an independent team for the first time in Euro '96 qualifying, but finished in third place in their qualifying group, behind Romania and France, having recorded wins against Poland, Israel and Azerbaijan, twice. In the 1998 World Cup qualifiers, Slovakia finished fourth in their six-team group with five wins, one draw and four defeats.

Slovakia will participate in the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history as an independent nation after finishing in first place in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification - UEFA Group 3 ahead of Slovenia, Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, and Poland. On 14 October 2009, they clinched qualification with a 1-0 away win against Poland.
The Chile is the second oldest South American federation, with 114 years of existence. Its foundation dates back to 19 June 1895 in the port city of Valparaiso. Its first President was David Scott.

Chile is one of the four founding member nations of CONMEBOL which include Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. The members established the South American footballing organization on 9 July 1916. The four associations enacted and participated in the first held South American Championship which would later be re-named the Copa America.

Chile is one of the original thirteen national teams that competed in the inaugural 1930 World Cup. They started off well beating Mexico and France without conceding a goal. A 3-1 loss to Argentina in their final game left them in second place within the group, eliminating them from the tournament. In the 1950 World Cup, Chile was eliminated in the first round but defeated the United States 5-2.

Their best World Cup result was a third place finish in 1962, when Chile was the host nation. Chile lost 4-2 to eventual champions Brazil in a semifinals match. Chile went on to defeat Yugoslavia 1-0 for third place.

Many historical incidences have occurred while Chile has been involved in World Cup competition. The first player to miss a World Cup penalty kick was Guillermo Subiabre in a 1930 FIFA World Cup match against France. Carlos Caszely of Chile became the first player to be officially sent off with a red card in a 1974 World Cup game, during their match against West Germany. Red cards were formally introduced in World Cup play in 1970, but no players were sent off in that tournament.

In Olympic tournament play, Chile's best result was the Bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, with striker Ivan Zamorano the competition's top scorer.

Chile has also attained bronze medals in both the U-17 World Cup held in Japan and the U-20 World Cup in Canada. The 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship hosted in Chile had the national team finishing in fourth place.

La Roja's most infamous moment known as The Roberto Rojas Scandal (also known in Chile as the "Maracanazo") occurred on 3 September 1989. During a 1990 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at Rio de Janeiro's Maracan stadium, Brazil led Chile 1-0. A defeat for Chile would eliminate them from the tournament. At around the 67-minute mark, Chilean goalkeeper Roberto "Cndor" Rojas fell to the pitch with an apparent injury to his forehead. A firework, thrown from the stands by a Brazilian fan named Rosemary de Mello, was smouldering about a yard away. After carrying Rojas off the pitch, the Chilean players and coaches refused to return claiming conditions were not safe. The match went unfinished.

After studying video footage of the match showing that the firework had not made contact with Rojas, FIFA awarded Brazil a 2-0 win (eliminating Chile from the 1990 World Cup). The team was banned from the qualifiers of the 1994 Football World Cup, and Rojas was banned for life (although an amnesty was granted in 2001).

On 11 July 2007, the Chilean Football Federation banned six of the national team players, because of "internal indiscipline" during the Copa America tournament, for 20 international matches each and none of the players will ever be allowed to captain the national team. The players banned were captain Jorge Valdivia, defenders lvaro Ormeo, Rodrigo Tello, Jorge Vargas and Pablo Contreras and striker Reinaldo Navia. Nelson Acosta's resignation as manager came after Chile were knocked out of the 2007 Copa America. Chile had qualified to the quarter-finals after a win against Ecuador 3-2, and a draw against Mexico 0-0. But, two losses against Brazil sealed Acosta's fate. Former Argentina manager Marcelo Bielsa was given the task of becoming the current Chile national team manager in preparation for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. In 16 October 2008, Chile beat Argentina 1-0 for the first time in a qualifying competition, making history. Marcelo Bielsa was acclaimed for this defeat from both Chilean and Argentinian people, and this was one of the reasons that ended in the resigning of Alfio Basile from the Argentinian bench.

The Chilean national team plays their qualifying matches at the Estadio Nacional de Chile located in Santiago, Chile and can be found at the commune of uoa. The construction of the stadium began in February 1937, and opened on 3 December 1938. The official registered capacity is of 62,000 spectators, but has surpassed the 75,000 mark on many occasions when the match is of high demand. An example would be the 1962 FIFA World Cup Semi-final match Chile vs. Brazil, where over 76,000 spectators viewed the game. The maximum attendance ever was 85.262 on December 26, 1962 for a game between Universidad Catolica and Universidad de Chile

It has hosted four Copa America finals, The final of the 1962 FIFA World Cup and the final to the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Peru and Chile have a rivalry that dates back from the War of the Pacific. Previously, the two nations had been on friendly terms sharing mutual alliances during the South American wars of independence and in the Chincha Islands War. Territorial, maritime, and cultural disputes have fueled tensions since the ending of the War of the Pacific. These historical feuds and lingering bitterness have led to a large football rivalry between both nations.

The rivalry originating since the ending of the war evolved into sports competition, especially football since that is the favorite sport of both nations. The Chile vs. Peru games generally tend to be very competitive and at times rough, often with players sent off. The two teams display highly contested battles that make for entertaining matches within the CONMEBOL region.

Hull City Association Football Club is an English football club based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, founded in 1904. In 200708 they achieved promotion to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history, by winning the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium. They finished the 200809 season 17th in the Premier League table, successfully avoiding relegation by one point. The previous highest position Hull City had finished in the English Football League was third in the old second division in 190910, which they matched in 200708 when they gained promotion. Their greatest achievement in cup competitions came in 1930, when the team reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Hull play their home games at the KC Stadium. They previously played at Boothferry Park, but moved to their current home in 2002, with Boothferry Park set for demolition. They traditionally play in black and amber, often with a striped shirt design, hence their nickname of The Tigers. The club's mascot is Roary the Tiger.

Hull City Association Football Club was founded in June 1904. For some years previously, attempts had been made to found a football club, but this proved difficult because the city was then dominated by rugby league teams such as Hull FC and Hull KR.

Hull City's first season as a professional football club consisted only of friendly matches; because of the date of its founding, the club was unable to apply for membership of The Football League for the 190405 season. These early matches were played at The Boulevard, the home of rugby league club Hull FC. On 1 September 1904, Hull's debut match took place against Notts County; with 6,000 in attendance at The Boulevard, Hull held County to a 22 draw.

Hull's first competitive football match was in the FA Cup, but they were eliminated, after a replay, in the preliminary round against Stockton, the score was 74 on aggregate. After disputes with landlords at The Boulevard, Hull City moved to Anlaby Road Cricket Ground. After having played 44 friendly fixtures the previous season, Hull City were finally admitted into the Football League Second Division for the 190506 season. Other teams competing in the league that season included the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Yorkshire rivals Leeds City, Bradford City and Barnsley. Hull faced Barnsley in their first game, a fixture which Hull won 41. Eventually, Hull would finish the season in fifth place.

The following season a new ground was built for Hull City across the road from the cricket ground. Still under the managership of Ambrose Langley, Hull continued to finish consistently in the top half of the table. They came close to promotion in the 190910 season, recording what would be their highest finish until they matched it in 2008. Hull finished third, level on points with second placed Oldham Athletic, missing promotion on goal average by 0.29 of a goal. Hull regularly finished in the top half of the table prior to the First World War, but after the war the team finished in the bottom half in seven seasons out of eleven, culminating in relegation to the Third Division North in 1930.

The new chairman ploughed funds into the club, allowing Little to rebuild the team. Hull occupied the Division Three promotion and playoff places for much of the 200102 season, but Little departed two months before the end of the season and Hull slipped to 11th under his successor Jan Mlby.

Hull began the 200203 season with a number of defeats, which saw relegation look more likely than promotion, and Mlby was sacked in October as Hull languished fifth from bottom in the league. Peter Taylor was named as Hull's new manager and in December 2002, just two months after his appointment, Hull relocated to the new 25,400-seater Kingston Communications Stadium after 56 years at Boothferry Park. At the end of the season Hull finished 13th.

Hull were Division Three runners-up in 200304 and League One runners-up in 200405. These back-to-back promotions took them into the Championship, the second tier of English football. The 200506 season, the club's first back in the second tier, saw Hull finish in 18th place, 10 points clear of relegation and their highest league finish for 16 years.

However, Taylor left the club on 13 June 2006 to take up the manager's job at Crystal Palace. Phil Parkinson was confirmed as his replacement on 29 June 2006, but was sacked on 4 December 2006 with Hull in the relegation zone, despite having spent over 2 million on players. Phil Brown took over as caretaker manager, and took over permanently in January 2007, having taken Hull out of the relegation zone. Brown brought veteran striker Dean Windass back to his hometown club on loan from Bradford City, and his eight goals helped secure Hull's Championship status as they finished in 21st place. At the end of the season, former manager Brian Horton rejoined the club as Phil Brown's assistant.

Adam Pearson sold the club to a consortium led by Paul Duffen in June 2007, stating that he "had taken the club as far as I could", and would have to relinquish control in order to attract "really significant finance into the club". He resigned from the board on 31 July 2007, thus severing all ties with the club.

Under Paul Duffen and manager Phil Brown, Hull City improved greatly on their relegation battle of 200607 and qualified for the play-offs after finishing the season in third place. They beat Watford 61 on aggregate in the semi-finals and played Bristol City in the final on 24 May 2008, which Hull won 10 at Wembley Stadium, with Hull native Dean Windass scoring the winning goal. Their ascent from the bottom division of the English football league to the top in just five seasons is the third-fastest ever.

Despite being one of the favourites for relegation, Hull began life in the Premier League by beating Fulham 21 on the opening day in their first ever top flight fixture. With only one defeat in their opening nine games, Hull City found themselves (temporarily) joint top of the table, third on goal difference, following a 30 victory over West Bromwich Albion - ten years previously they had been bottom of tier four of the league. Hull City's form never replicated the highs of the early autumn, winning only two more games over the remainder of the season. Despite the drop in form and slow slide down the table, Hull City went into the final game of the season in 17th place and above the drop zone. They ultimately lost the game against Manchester United 01, however Newcastle United and Middlesbrough also lost their games against Aston Villa and West Ham United respectively, thus securing a second Premier League season for Hull City.

On 10 June 2009, Hull City were officially announced as part of the Barclays Asia Trophy 2009. In this 4-team tournament Hull City competed against two other English sides, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, as well as local side Beijing Guoan, who they beat 54 in a penalty shoot out after a 11 draw. On 31 July 2009, Hull City faced Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy and were defeated 30. On 6 August 2009, Hull City acquired American international striker Jozy Altidore on loan from Spanish side Villarreal, with an option to buy him after the 2009-10 season.

On 29 October 2009 chairman Paul Duffen resigned his position with the club and was replaced by former chairman Adam Pearson on 2 November 2009.

During the mid 1970s and early 1980s, the strip was constantly changing between the two versions of plain shirts and stripes. During the late 1980s, red was added to the kits but its duration went no further than this. The early 1990s featured two "tiger skin" designs, which have since featured in several articles listing the "worst ever" football kits. The 199899 season introduced a kit with cross-fading amber and white stripes, another experiment that proved unpopular. After the turn of the century, the club wore plain amber shirts until 2004, when the club celebrated its centenary by wearing a kit similar to the design of the one worn 100 years ago.

Hull City did not wear a crest on their team shirts until 1947. This crest depicted a tiger's head in a yellow-shaded badge, which was worn up until 1955, when it was changed to just the tiger's head. This was worn for four years, when the shirt again featured no emblem. Then, in 1971, the club returned to showing the tiger's head on the shirt. This was used for four years, until the club's initials of HCAFC were shown for five years. After this, a logo with the tiger's head with the club's name underneath was used from 1980 until 1998. The next logo, which as of 2009 is the club's current logo, features the tiger's head in an amber shield with the club's name, along with the club's nickname, The Tigers.

During the Second World War, Anlaby Road was damaged by enemy bombing, the repair cost of which was in the region of 1,000. The Cricket Club served notice to quit at the same time, and so in 1943 the tenancy was officially ended. Hull were forced to return to the Boulevard Ground from 1944 until 1945 because of the poor condition of the planned stadium at Boothferry Road. The new stadium was finally opened under the revised name of Boothferry Park on 31 August 1946.

Hull City, along with one of the city's rugby league sides, Hull F.C., moved into the newly-built KC Stadium in 2002. The KC Stadium was named "Best Ground" at the 2006 Football League Awards.

Andy Davidson holds the record for Hull City league appearances, having played 520 matches. George Maddison comes second, having played 430 matches. Chris Chilton is the club's top goalscorer with 222 goals in all competitions. Chilton also holds the club record for goals scored in the League (193), FA Cup (16) and League Cup (10).

The club's widest victory margin in the league was their 111 win against Carlisle United in Division Three in 1939. Their heaviest defeat in the league was 80 against Wolves in 1911.

Hull City's record home attendance is 55,019, for a match against Manchester United on 26 February 1949 at Boothferry Park, with their highest attendance at their current stadium, the KC Stadium, 24,945 on 24 May 2009, also against Manchester United.

The highest transfer fee received for a Hull City player is 4 million from Sunderland for Michael Turner. The highest transfer fee paid for a player is 5 million, for Jimmy Bullard from Fulham in January 2009.

Though Hull City are not at the top rank of the Premier League but they have gave awesome performance and it adds alot into their popularity among people all over the world.

Hull City have a large fan base and have millions of fans all over the world and people love to watch their matches live into the play ground.
The Spanish national football team represents Spain in international football and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The Spanish side are commonly referred to as La Furia Roja (The Red Fury). Spain are the current European champions, having won the UEFA European Championship in 2008. They also won the European Nations' Cup in 1964 and reached the UEFA Euro 1984 Final. Spain have qualified for the FIFA World Cup twelve times, reaching fourth place in the 1950 tournament. In July 2008, Spain rose to the top of the FIFA World Ranking for the first time in their history, becoming the sixth nation, and the first who has never won the World Cup, to top this ranking. Between November 2006 and June 2009, Spain went undefeated for a record tying 35 consecutive matches record shared with Brazil including a record 15-game winning streak.

Lets have a short look on world cup history of the Spain National Football Team. In 1966, Spain was selected as host of the 1982 FIFA World Cup. This edition of the World Cup featured 24 teams for the first time. Expectations were high for Spain as the host nation under coach Jos Santamara. In the group stages, Spain was drawn into Group 5, in which they could only manage a 11 draw with Honduras in the finals' opening match, after which they had a 21 victory over Yugoslavia, but were defeated 10 by Northern Ireland. These results were enough to secure progress to the second round where they were drawn into Group B, but defeat to West Germany and a goalless draw with England meant that Spain were knocked out, and Santamara was sacked. For the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Spain had a new coach, Luis Surez. Having qualified from a group consisting of Republic of Ireland, Hungary, Northern Ireland, and Malta, Spain entered the competition on a good run of form, and after reaching the knock out stages through a 00 draw with Uruguay and wins over South Korea (31) and Belgium (21), fell to a 21 defeat to Yugoslavia in the second round.

The qualifying tournament for the 2002 World Cup went as expected for Spain as they topped a group consisting of Austria, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Liechtenstein. In the finals tournament Spain won its three matches in group B, against Slovenia, Paraguay (both by 3-1), and South Africa (3-2). Spain beat Republic of Ireland on penalties in the second round, and faced co-hosts Korea Republic in the quarterfinals. Spain twice thought they had scored, but the efforts were disallowed, and Korea were successful in the penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw. Spain qualified for the 2006 World Cup only after a play-off against Slovakia, as they had finished behind Serbia and Montenegro in Group 7, which also included Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Lithuania, and San Marino.

On 9 September 2009, Spain secured their place at the 2010 World Cup finals after beating Estonia 30 in Mrida. They went on to record a perfect World Cup qualifying record with 10 wins out of 10 in Group 5, finishing with a 52 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on 14 October 2009.

Talking about the terrific history we cannot neglect the world record of Spain being undefeated. Spain went undefeated for a world record 35 matches in a row, after a 10 loss to Romania in a friendly match on November 15, 2006. The record is also held by Brazil (not counting defeats after a penalty shoot-out). Spain won 32 out of the 35 matches, while the other 3 ended in draws (one of which was against Italy, a match which Spain ended up winning on penalties). The Spanish side scored 73 goals while conceding only 11, and never allowed more than one goal per match except against Greece, a friendly match on August 22, 2007 which ended 32. Spain also held the world record for consecutive wins, at 15, following their draw against Italy during the quarter finals in UEFA Euro 2008. This winning streak, together with the undefeated run, was ended by the United States on June 24, 2009, in a 20 defeat in the semifinal stage of the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Spain's traditional kit is a red jersey with yellow trim accompanied by dark blue shorts and socks while their traditional away kit is either a full white kit with red and yellow trim or a yellow jersey with dark blue shorts and socks. Their current home kit is a lighter red than usual along with light blue shorts and red socks, similar to the older 2006 kit. A third kit is sometimes used and is usually blue with red and yellow trim. Spain's kit is currently designed by Adidas. Rather than displaying the logo of the Spanish football federation, Spain's jersey traditionally features the Coat of arms of Spain over the left breast.

Spain National Football Team is at number 2nd in the Elo ranking, From June 2008 to June 2009 Spain was at the 1st place in the ranking. This shows the strength of the team, as Spain has qualified for the World cup 2010 their fans are eagerly waiting to watch the Spanish to prove themselves the true champions. Ticket4football.com provides the Spain's fans with the facility to buy Spain world cup tickets at cheaper price.
The Argentina national football team is the national football team of Argentina and is controlled by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). Argentina has won most international titles by any national team - 19, a record shared with Uruguay.

Argentina is one of the most successful national football teams in the world, and is currently sixth in the FIFA world rankings. The team has twice won the FIFA World Cup, in 1978 and 1986. Argentina has won the Copa Amrica 14 times, a record shared with Uruguay, won the Confederations Cup in 1992 and the Olympic Football Tournament in 2004 and 2008.

Argentina and France are the only national teams which have won the three most important men's titles recognized by FIFA: the World Cup, the Confederations Cup, and the Olympic tournament. They have both also won their respective continental championship (Copa Amrica for Argentina, and UEFA European Football Championship for France).

La Seleccin, also known as the Albicelestes (Light blue and whites), has appeared in four World Cup finals, including the first final in 1930, which they lost 4-2 to Uruguay. Argentina won in their next final in 1978, beating the Netherlands 3-1. Argentina, led by Diego Maradona won again in 1986, a 3-2 victory over West Germany. Their most recent World Cup final was in 1990, which they lost 1-0 to Germany by a much disputed penalty. Argentina's World Cup winning managers are Csar Luis Menotti in 1978, and Carlos Bilardo in 1986.

Argentina has been very successful in the Copa Amrica, winning it fourteen times and also winning the 'extra' South American Championships in 1941, 1945 and 1946. The team also won the FIFA Confederations Cup and the Kirin Cup, both in 1992, and an Argentine team (with only three players of over 23 years of age included in the squad) won the Olympics football tournaments in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Argentina also won six of the fourteen football competitions at the Pan American Games, winning in 1951, 1955, 1959, 1971, 1995 and 2003.In March 2007, Argentina reached the top of the FIFA World Rankings for the first time. Now Lets ahve a look on some of the important facts about Argentina National football team.

Argentina and Uruguay hold the record for the most international matches played between two countries. The two teams have faced each other 161 times since 1901. The first match against Uruguay was the first official international match to be played outside the United Kingdom. Marcelo Trobbiani was a member of the Argentina World Cup squad in 1986, but he only managed two minutes of play in the entire tournament, he came on in the 88th minute of the World Cup Final against West Germany. This two minutes of football equalled the world record for the shortest World Cup career set by Tunisia's Khemais Labidi in 1978. In the 2006 World Cup Leandro Cufr was given a red card and sent off after the end of the Quarter Final game with Germany for his part in the brawl after the match, even though he was a substitute and had not participated in the game itself. It is the only occasion of a player being sent off in a FIFA World Cup match after the final whistle. Four years earlier, in the 2002 World Cup Claudio Caniggia was sent off for swearing at a match official from the substitute bench.

Argentina is no doubt a great team ever on the universe but they got traditional rivalries who are also considered as the best in the soccer world lets have a look on them.

Since very beginning the the world witnessed the rivalry of Brazil and Argentina.

Now both the nations have once again qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2010. On September 5th, 2009, the two nations played their second leg in the 2010 World Cup Qualifying at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito in Rosario; the same stadium where they had played their 1978 World Cup match. The first result was a 0-0 tie in Brazil; but the Brazilian team would qualify with a victory, if Ecuador and Uruguay did not win their matches during that leg; while Argentina continued to struggle. The match was covered intensily by the media in both countries due to comments made by Diego Maradona in regards to both teams. Dunga and the Brazilian squad, on the other hand, did not say much and decided to concentrate on the game. The Brazilian team won the match by a 3-1 score, with goals by Luisao (23') and Luis Fabiano (30' and 68'). Datolo scored for the Argentinians (65'). Brazil won what they considered a historical win (they had not won in Argentinian soil since 1995) silencing a stunned crowd in Rosario. And as a result, they also won the qualification; as both Ecuador and Uruguay lost to Colombia and Peru, respectively. Argentina lost the following match to Paraguay (1-0), but was able to qualify by defeating Peru (2-1) and Uruguay (1-0) in the final two legs of qualification.

There is another rivalry exist with England National Football team and Argentina. Games between the two teams, even those that are only friendly matches, are often marked by notable and sometimes controversial incidents.

The rivalry is unusual in that it is an intercontinental one; typically, footballing rivalries exist between countries that are close to one another, for example FranceItaly or ArgentinaBrazil. Argentina is regarded in England as one of the major rivals of the English football team, along with such countries as Scotland and Germany. The rivalry is also keenly felt in Argentina, locally described as a Clsico, where only matches against Brazil carry a greater significance in popular perception.

The rivalry emerged across several games during the latter half of the 20th century, even though as of 2008 the teams have played each other on only 14 occasions in full internationals. It was driven by various controversial incidents.

Now lets have a look on the brief history of FIFA World Cup. The FIFA World Cup, occasionally called the Football World Cup, but usually referred to simply as the World Cup, is an international football competition contested by the men's national teams of the members of Fdration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946, because of World War II.

The current format of the tournament involves 32 teams competing for the title at venues within the host nation(s) over a period of about a month this phase is often called the World Cup Finals. A qualification phase, which currently takes place over the preceding three years, is used to determine which teams qualify for the tournament together with the host nation(s). The World Cup is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the 2006 final.

Of the 18 tournaments held, seven nations have won the title. Brazil are the only team that have played in every tournament and have won the World Cup a record five times. Italy are the current champions and have won four titles, and Germany are next with three. The other former champions are Uruguay, winners of the inaugural tournament, and Argentina, with two titles each, and England and France, with one title each.

The most recent World Cup was held in Germany in 2006. The next World Cup will be held in South Africa, between 11 June and 11 July 2010, and the 2014 World Cup will be held in Brazil.

The Portuguese Football Federation was formed in 1914 with the name Unio Portuguesa de Futebol (by 1926, they changed to its current name) and the aim of creating national tournaments (since it only existed regional championships) and promoting games in which a Portuguese representative team would play against other teams from various parts of the globe, but unfortunately, due to the World War I, the dream was not made possible for the next seven years.

Portugals first game was on the 18th December 1921 against Spain, the game ended in a defeat for the national team (31). The following year, the inaugural edition of the Campeonato de Portugal (a knock-out tournament, precursor of the Taa de Portugal) was contested, the winner was defined as the Portuguese Champion. The Portuguese national football team is governed by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), finishing 4th at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The first appearance in the 1966 FIFA World Cup saw them reach the semifinal, losing 21 at Wembley to the eventual world champions England. Portugal finished in third place and Eusbio was considered the best player of the tournament. The next two times Portugal qualified for the World Cup were 1986 and 2002, with Portugal going out in the first round both times. In the 1986 tournament, players went on strike over prize-money and refused to train between their first and second games.

In 2003, the Portuguese Football Federation decided to hire Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Brazilian who had led the Brazil national football team to win the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Scolari led Portugal to the final of UEFA Euro 2004, where they lost to the Greek national team, and to their second World Cup semi-final in the 2006 World Cup. Scolari left after the Euro 2008 championships to manage Chelsea. Carlos Queiroz was appointed the new manager of Portugal in 2008.

Having qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Seleco das Quinas had it's most successful decade up to date,In the Final Draw, on 4th December 2009, Portugal was drawn in one of the toughest groups, the so called Group of Death where the Seleco das Quinas will be facing 5-time champions Brazil, Africa's top contenders Cte d'Ivoire and 1966 opponents North Korea. Portugal National Football Team is one of the favourite team among the other teams of the World Cup 2010.
