Manchester United vs Chelsea Preview: Manchester United will be hosting Chelsea for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter final. Manchester United vs Chelsea live game will kick-off on April 12th at 18:45 GMT at the Old Trafford, England.

All other three quarter-finals finished with such scores, that playing a return game is a bit pointless.

Manchester United has been the most influential side in the Premier League this season, they have not lost any game at Old Trafford and they are still unbeaten in the Champions league. Man United grabbed a fabulous victory this weekend against Fulham with 2-0 score, and is now closer and closer to the Premier League title.

Manchester United has played sixteen Premier League games this season on Old Trafford. On home ground, Manchester United has won 15, drawn 1 and lost 0 games and this ranked the Red Devils 1st in home team performance in the English Premier League.

          ]]>

"Manchester United vs Chelsea 2011"Wayne Rooney was suspended and will not be available for this game, because of the game against West Ham, where he swore in front of the camera. Van der sar was also missing from the goal post, his place may be taken by Tomasz Kuszczak, and we saw Dimitar Berbatov as a starter for a first time in a month possibly.

Chelsea is a strong side and kept all hopes in this game. They have got more quality in the team front line of Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Nicloas Anelka but, at the moment none of them are clicking for the side. They have to pull up their socks and quick if they want to progress.

Chelsea has played sixteen Premier League games this season away from home. On away ground, Chelsea has won 6, drawn 5 and lost 5 games and this ranked the Blues 4th in away team performance in the English Premier League.

In the Champions League, Nicolas Anelka is second top scorer this season. The Blues 50 million striker Fernando Torres has failed to score a goal in 11 games, since joining in January.

In this game, Manchester United is favorites but actually chances are pretty equal or at least in my opinion.

Possible staring line up:

Manchester United: Van der Sar; Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Nani; Hernandez and Rooney.

Chelsea: Cech; Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Essien, Lampard; Anelka, Drogba and Malouda.

A major element behind a football team's success is definitely a well-equipped football kit. A football kit not only serves as a backbone of the team but also offers some sort of a security or protection for the players. There are a number of instances while participating in a game of football that it might be a bit brutal and unsafe, but these can be avoided if the players of each team are provided with a top quality football kit.

Football is definitely a fan favourite sport with a large number of followers and players enjoying the game the world over. If you are interested in turning into a professional football player or follow the game ardently, it is really important that you have a properly equipped football kit. Football kits for teams generally means the basic clothes and equipment used by football players in competitive football matches as well as training sessions. The law of the game clearly describes that each team player must use the minimum kit of the game.

          ]]>

The football kit mainly consists of a set of common gear used for many sports. It includes socks, a football shirt or jersey, shorts, football boots and finally the shin guard. There are many football kit suppliers nowadays while it's quite a difficult job to decide where and what to purchase, for you to be an efficient football player. Some players might go for cheap football kits while some might be interested in expensive ones. It is also a must that goal keepers should be attired in very noticeable colours as opposed to their own team players as well as the match officials so that the opponents can be alerted. Football kits can also include gloves and leg pads for goalkeepers. There is also the possibility of them using caps to block the sun from blocking their view.

Football boots are also a very important part of the entire football kit. Match officials including referees, 4th officials and assistant referees wear a pure black football kit which has been rather of a tradition.

So, when purchasing a football kit, make sure that the shin guards are intact and are made of quality material to provide you with maximum protection. Also check that the boots are studded and are of quality fabric. Always choose an excellent good quality and value for money kit if you are playing the much loved game of football.

Founder members of the Football League, Bolton were a successful cup side in the 1920s, winning the FA Cup three times. The club won the cup a fourth time in 1958 thanks to two Nat Lofthouse goals. A leaner spell followed, reaching a nadir in 1987 when the club spent a season in the Fourth Division. The club regained top-flight status in 1995 after a 15 year absence; their current spell in the top division started in 2001. In 200506 they participated in European competition for the first time, reaching the last 32 of the UEFA Cup. Bolton qualified for the 200708 tournament by finishing 7th in the 200607 Premier League season and this time they managed to reach the last 16 of the competition. Bolton Wanderers moved to the Reebok Stadium in 1997. Their former home was Burnden Park, where they played for 102 years until relocating to the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton have spent the highest number of seasons in the top flight without winning the title (the 2008/2009 season, was their 70th in the top flight).

Bolton struggled in the following two seasons, but survived in the Premier League. The 2001-02 season began with a shock as they destroyed Leicester 5-0 at Filbert Street to go top of the table. They won their next two games, including a narrow victory over Liverpool, and were suddenly the Premiership's pace setters. Despite a memorable 2-1 win away at Manchester United, they went into an awful slump during the middle of the season and needed a Fredi Bobic hat-trick against Ipswich Town to survive. 16th place was secured despite losing the final three games. The arrivals of experienced international players Bobic and Youri Djorkaeff proved vital, as did the emergence of Kevin Nolan and Michael Ricketts.

In the 2002-03 season Bolton made a poor start and, despite another win away at Manchester United, they were bottom until a vital and spectacular 4-2 win against Leeds at Elland Road. Despite suffering from a lack of consistency, Bolton ground out the results needed and secured survival in a final day 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough. The star of the season, Jay-Jay Okocha, was another high profile signing and would go on to be a legend at the Reebok Stadium.

          ]]>

Bolton reached the League Cup final in 2004, but lost to Middlesbrough. Nevertheless, Bolton finished eighth in the league, at the time their highest finish in their Premiership history. In 2005 Bolton finished sixth in the league, thus earning qualification for the UEFA Cup for the first time in their history. The following season, they reached the last 32 but were eliminated by French team Marseille as they lost 2-1 on aggragate. In April 2007, towards the end of 200607 season, manager Allardyce resigned.[8] In his final four seasons at Bolton, Allardyce had recorded consecutive top ten finishes, a record of consistency bettered only by the big four of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. However, the style that Bolton are believed to have played during this time led them to be voted the seventh most-hated club in English football in a 2008 poll.

Allardyce was replaced by his assistant Sammy Lee, who secured Bolton's qualification for the 200708 UEFA Cup. After gaining only one league win in eleven matches, Lee left Bolton in October 2007[11] and was replaced by Gary Megson.

Megson guided Bolton to survival with a 16th place finish, their safety being confirmed on the final day of the season, as they went on an unbeaten run for their final five games. The new manager broke Bolton's record transfer fee with the signing of Johan Elmander from Toulouse on 27 June 2008, in a deal which cost the club a reported 8.2 million and saw Norway striker Daniel Braaten head in the opposite direction.

Bolton Wanderers' home colours are white shirts with navy trim, worn with navy shorts and white socks. Their current away kit colours follow the design of the home kit, but the colour is a navy blue base with red trim. Their third-choice kit is black with turquoise trim. Bolton did not always wear the white kit they do today, in 1884 they wore white with red spots. Bolton's traditional colours are white shirts with navy blue shorts. The navy blue shorts were dispensed with in 2003, in favour of an all-white strip, but they returned in 2008. The club had previously experimented with an all-white kit in the 1970s.

The Bolton Wanderers club badge consists of the initials of the club in the shape of a ball, with red and blue ribbons beneath. The ribbons controversially replaced the Red Rose of Lancashire, coinciding with the club's move to the Reebok Stadium. The club's original badge was the town crest of Bolton.

It is a modern, all-seater stadium with a capacity of 28,723. In recognition of the clubs former ground the stadium stands on "Burnden Way". It has four stands: The sponsored "The Debt Matters Stand" at the north end, the similarly sponsored "Woodford Group" Stand opposite, the West Stand at one side of the pitch and the "Nat Lofthouse" Stand at the other side. The Reebok Stadium is named for long-time team sponsor, Reebok.

Though Wanderers are not the top ranked of the Premier League 2009-10, but they have been appreciated a lot by the viewer. They got historical and terrific victories in this premier league. Now they are going to face Blackburn Rovers on November 22. Wanderers are passionate enough to give their opponents a tough time.

Bolton have a large fan base and have millions of fans all over the world and people love to watch their matches live into the play ground.
The new trend of a healthy lifestyle is exercise combined with sports which becomes a recreation not only with yourself but it can also be with your family and relatives as well as your friends or classmates. Physical activity is a great way to reduce health related risk and with playing sports like soccer will likely promote a very healthy lifestyle. These activities will not only promote good physical health but in relation to virtues it promotes camaraderie, team cooperation and team building as well.

Soccer is already a common sport; it has plenty of fans and is commonly practiced in school for their physical education. This game is composed by a group of members with different function but has the same goal to score and defend their own home base. Soccer drills are important when it comes to improving the team's capability in winning.

With constant practice such as exercises that will help improve muscle strength and endurance focusing on the legs and body weight for good defence are necessary to put emphasis on how to deliberately improve their skills.

          ]]>

Doing soccer training for all the players will provide a basic discipline for them to always follow and kept in their minds these basic drills to always do as a good warm up and prepared them for the big game.

In contrast to this situation a good team captain that can make a brilliant soccer coaching that improvises the team particularly in breaking down the defences of the enemy for the offensive moves will distract the other team, shielding and protecting the base will also allow the enemy to be more careful as you have guarded well the safety of the base, as well as focusing to score on the game with power kicks and a strategic workflow that will keep your enemies at awe. Having so many things to improvise the teams capability will be the key for winning the game.

All these things can be done but like every soccer drill or training the important factor to consider before starting is having the concrete plan. Plans that is important to start the training. In particular to these includes the goals, what will we be doing before and after the session.

Equipments to be used for practice and all necessary paraphernalia needed and also the proper mind conditioning of the players so that no more inhibitions instead just focus on the soccer drill for the upcoming came to be participated.

Eric Soccer is a former youth football coach from the Academy Technical Coach at Premier League club, West Ham United.
Congratulations to Norwich City who are back in the English Premier League......and with a Scottish manager. This now means that 6 of the 20 English Premier League managers are Scottish. Why is it that Premier League Chairmen are recruitingScottish managers? Has Sir Alex Ferguson set a precedent within the league and hehas created a blueprint for success within theEnglishPremierLeague.

There are many theories as to why Scottish managers have historically done well within the top tier of English football. One school of thought is the fact that due to their working class backgrounds they have a fantastic work ethic. Another theoryis that the Scottish don't suffer fools gladly and don't let player's egos take over the dressing room. Sir Alex Ferguson for example has let star players leave the club when they have crossed the line - think David Beckham and Jaap Stam who both got listed after a fall out with him.

More likely is the fact that thecurrent crop of Scottish managers within the Premier League all began their coaching careers whilst still playing. David Moyes for example was taking his coaching qualifications at the age of 22. They also have fine role models to look up to - Sir Alex Ferguson would have looked up to the likes of Jock Stein, Bill Shankly and of course Sir Matt Busby whilst the current crop of Scottish managers in the English Premier League in turn look up to Sir Alex. You only have to look at the statistics to see that Scottish managers are reknowned for their loyalty and longevity within their clubs.

          ]]>

Sir Alex Ferguson for example is the longest serving manager in the league having been in charge of Man Utd for nearly 25 years. David Moyes is in fourth position having managed Everton for 9 years. Paul Lambert, Steve Kean and Owen Coyle have been with their clubs (Norwich, Blackburn and Bolton respectively) for less than 2 years but there is no reason why they won't go on to manage their clubs for a long time.Kenny Dalglish who is in his second spellat Liverpool only left first time round due to ill health and was back at the club before he was appointed manager as a Club Ambassador.

Other Scottish managers haveplyed their trade in thePremier League with reasonable success. George Burley had a fantastic run with Ipswich Town in 2000-2001 result culminating inwinning the Manager of the Year award and also reaching the UEFA cup. Graeme Souness hasalso hadspells with Liverpool, Blackburn and Newcastle in the English Premier League, Gordon Strachan (Coventry and Southampton) ,George Graham(Arsenal, Tottenham and Leeds)Walter Smith (Everton) and most recently Alex McLeish with Birmingham. Wehave also seen Joe Jordan, Gary McAllister and Steve Clarkein Assistant Manager rolesat Tottenham, Aston Villa and Liverpool. Steve Nicol, John Spencerand Mo Johnston, both former Scottish internationalsare alsohighly respected managers within Major League Soccer in the USA.

Some of the top pundits and commentators within the gameare Scottish. Andy Gray at SkySports and now TalkSport, Alan Brazil also at TalkSport, Craig Burley at ESPN and Alan Hansen for the BBC. When they talk, people listen. When these peopleprovide analysis on a match they sometimes sound harsh but authoritative and their views are highly regarded. You don't hear many people from the North West or the West Country on the radio or television!

So in conclusion the question remains "Why are there so many Scottish managers in the Premier League"? I think the simple answer is firstly that they have many successful role models to follow, they are unbelievably passionate, they have a fantastic work rate and desire to succeed and they start to learn the trade whilst they are still playing. With 4 of the current Scottish managers in the English Premier League in their early 40's we may possibly see another Sir Alex in the coming years.

Those teams unable to make it to the UEFA Champions League will look for they consolation in the Europa League, which begins with a very competitive group stage.

The second most prestigious club competition in Europe already knows how its 48 contenders will be divided throughout the group stage that begins on September 16th. There are only 10 guests missing that will join the competition after the group stage knocks out half of its competitors. These guests will come out from the Champions League teams that don't make it to the next stage. This will be the second year in which the competition is played under its new format and name. Previously it was know as the UEFA Cup, since its creation in 1971 until last year, when it merged with the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

The defending champions, Atletico de Madrid, will begin their attempt to revalidate the title in the Dublin Arena, where the final will be host on May 18th, 2011. If their expectations for this season where already high, after defeating Inter last week for the UEFA Super Cup final their aspirations have been set even higher, as all of them management, players, and fans are confident of their conditions. The first obstacles they will have to overcome in Group B are: Bayer Leverkusen, Rosenborg, and Aris Thessaloniki.

          ]]>

Group A has the three times winners Juventus, against the multi-millionaire Manchester City, a team that is trying to gain prominence not just in England, but in Europe as well. They shouldn't find much resistance in Salzburg and Lech Poznan, the two teams that complete the group, but their fight for the first place will make things interesting.

Continuing with the draw, Group C will have Sporting from Portugal and Lille from France departing as favorites over Levski Sofia and Gent. Meanwhile Group D has Villarreal, Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb, and PAOK competing for one of the two tickets that will lead them to the next round.

In Group E we find AZ Alkmaar, a team that gave a grateful surprise in the Eredivisie two seasons ago, when they proclaimed themselves as Dutch champions and halted PSV's domain. Their opponents are: Dynamo de Kiev, Borisov and Sheriff. The Russians will be represented by CSKA Moska and Zenit. CSKA will be in Group F along with Palermo, Sparta Praha, and Lausanne. And in Group G Zenit will compete against Anderlecht, AEK Athens, and Hajduk Split.

The confrontation between the Germans from Stuttgart and the Spaniards from Getafe will be the main dish in Group H, which will be completed with Odense and Young Boys. PSV, Sampdoria, Metalist Kharkiv, and Debreceni make up Group I, where the first two part as favorites. The next two groups, J and K, have very attractive matches ahead, as we will see Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Karpaty trying to avoid and early elimination from the competition in Group J. Liverpool, Steaua Bucharest, Napoli, and Utrecht will also have an interesting competition going on in Group K, for one ticket to the round of 32 phase.

Last but not least we have Group L, where Porto, Besiktas, CSKA Sofia, and Rapid Wien complete the competition.

From all indications, it very easy to say that the English Premier League Soccer is not just the most popular but also the most exciting league in the world as at this moment. With football being the most popular sport, it can also be said that the Premiership is the most popular sporting activity. It is the best football league and attracts a very high media attention. The media cannot help but report the activities of this league and this singular act also helps in increasing the popularity.

The unfortunate thing here is that though the English league is the best, the English National team has failed to record much success at the international competitions. The Premier League is popular due to a number of reasons which include the following:

The Premiership records most goals when compared to other leagues. Winning, they say is about scoring. Fans enjoy goals. In fact, that is the main reason they go to the stadium or have their eyes glued to their television. Once a goal is scored, everybody celebrates it; from the scorer to the team mates, the coaches and the fans.

          ]]>

The English Premier League Soccer has very strong teams with very high level of confidence. Each team fight very hard to be among the top 4 that will play in the European competitions and when it becomes obvious they will not make it, they fight even harder to avoid being relegated. The teams have a positive approach to playing. They don't play not to lose; they play to win.

Most of the greatest clubs in the world are there in the league. Clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool are any fan's choice any day. They enjoy very strong followership all over the globe.

The league enjoys a good gathering of world class star players. Every great player that has not played for the EPL looks forward for an opportunity to be there. Success goes with followership. For each star player in the Premier League you have thousands of fans watching his game. Players like Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogber, Stephen Gerrard, etc bring a lot of fans to the league.

The power of the media is another reason the league is the most popular. There is hardly any newspaper in the world that does not have regular news and update about the premiership. The same goes for television stations around the world. This keeps fans abreast of all the fixtures, scores and every bit of exciting information.

It is interesting news that four out of five English football teams in the UEFA Cup advance to next round after making hard struggle in their respective games this evening. Draws for Rangers (1-1), Tottenham (1-1) and Bolton (0-0) seemed to seal three side place in the last match.

Four out of the five British teams, including all three English teams, left in the UEFA Cup advanced to the next round after doing enough struggle in their respective matches this evening. Draws for Bolton (0-0), Rangers (1-1), and Tottenham (1-1) sealed all three sides places in the last League Round of 16 first legs. Football fanatics had got surprising moments by watching soccer results.

Tottenham, currently ranked as second popular team has got victory in the UEFA Cup, play over Slavia Prague in the match for the second season running. Spurs defeated Slavia in the first round of the match in the 2006/7 season with ratio of 2-0 on aggregate goals. New manager of Spurs, Juande Ramos also supervised his team Sevilla's 4-2 Champions League and got victory over Slavia Prague this season. And, Tottenham will have the intention of emulating north London rivals Arsenal who smacked down the Czech side with score of 7-0 earlier this season. All these matches are showing results in such manners that put audience in state of unconsciousness of what is going on next for soccer live scores.

          ]]>

After a 2-1 win over Slavia Prague, Tottenham are in a top ranked position despite noticing goalkeeper Radek Cerny provide his former football club a slight opening with a blunder of second-half. The firm of Keane (30) and Berbatov (4) puts Spurs in full control. But, Slavia were being managed to get thanks on the scoreboard in part to Cerny, whose mishandling behavior allowed David Strihavka at 69th minute tap-in and in a while may have granted Paul Robinson his first laugh, and maybe some unreliable expectations to go with it. Both teams, Tottenham and Everton are at their best positions at home as most special is Spurs which scoring proficiency enhances 7,000% at White Hart Lane, so getting any unforeseen upsets, both sides are ready for Uefa Cup round of 32 first legs.

Basically, UEFA Champions League is consisted of three qualifying rounds, four knockout rounds and a group stage. In these qualifying round matches, clubs must play two matches to one another in their home grounds and the club getting greater aggregate of goals tends to qualify for the next round.

?Whilst watching the summer activity going onin the transfer market yesterday I saw that LeedsUnited are potentially going to re-sign former players Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer andAlan Smith. This in my opinion would be a great coup as all 3 players still have a lot to offer at the highest level providing they stay injury free. The news got me thinking about other players that dropped down into the lower leagues whilst in the twilight years of their playing careers:

Craig Bellamy - After being left out of Man City's Europa League squad for the 2010-11 season, Bellamy joined his hometown Cardiff City on a season loan. He proved to be an instant success with a 35 yard free kick on his debut and hewent onto to score 10 more goals in the seasonwhich helpedCardiff reach the Championship play-offs. He has since returned back to Man City but has not ruled out a permanent move back to Cardiff.

Paul Ince - After his release from Middlesbrough in 2002, Ince dropped down a division to join Wolvehampton Wanderers. In his first season he helped them get promoted to the Premier League via the play offs but after one season they were back down. Ince went on to play 115 games for Wolves scoring 10 goals. He has stated that he would love to return to the club as manager.

Denis Irwin - The Irishman joined Wolves at the same time as former Manchester United team mate Paul Ince and was part of the team that were promoted to the Premier League in 2003. Following the team's relegation in 2004, Irwin retired at the age of 38

          ]]>

Teddy Sheringham - When Premier League team Portsmouth decided not to offer 38 year old Sheringham a contract he decided he would drop down a division and play for West Ham. A fantastic year for Sheringham led to himbecoming the division's third-highest goalscorer with 20 goals and he also won the Championship Player of the Season award.

Dennis Wise - After his sacking from Leicester City, Wise moved to First Division Milwall in 2002, becoming player manager in 2003. A successful season with the club culminated with them reaching the FA Cup Final where they lost 3-0 to Manchester United. As United had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League, Milwall qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time in their history unfortunately getting knocked out in the first round.

Paul Merson - Merson joined newly relegated first division club Middlesbrough in1997 after they doubled the wage terms offered by Arsenal. He was instrumental in the club's immediate return to The Premier League. After a term with Aston Villa, Merson signed for first division club Portsmouth in 2002 andagain was a key player during their successful promotion winning season.

Darren Anderton - After an injury plagued career with Portsmouth, Tottenham, Birmingham and Wolves, Anderton joined League One club Bournemouth on a "pay as you play basis" in 2006. Although the club at the time were struggling on the field, Anderton's performances were superb and he scored his first career hat-trick during his time at the club

Nick Barmby - After his club Leeds United were relegated from The Premier League in 2004, Barmby joined his hometown club Hull City. In his first season with the club he helped them gain promotion from League One and in 2008 he was instrumental in getting Hull promotion to the Premier League. Barmby is still playing for the club to this day.

Kevin Phillips - After experiencing Premier League football with Sunderland and Aston Villa, Phillips dropped down to The Championship in 2006 and joined West Brom. Phillips had 2 seasons with the club and scored 38 times in 71 games to help them gain promotion back to The Premier League in 2008. Phillips then stayed in the Championship and moved to Birmingham City where he also helped them get promoted back to The Premier League.

Ian Harte - After leaving Blackpool in 2009, Harte signed for League One club Carlisle United. He ended up helping the team regain League One status after scoring 18 goals from defence. In 2010, Harte signed for Championship team Reading and had a great season scoring 10 goals and making the PFA Championship team of the year.

INTRODUCTION
Chelsea Football Club are a professional English football club based in West London. The team, founded in 1905, play in the Premier League and have spent most of their history in the top tier of English football. Chelsea have been English champions three times, and have won the FA Cup five times, the League Cup four times and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice.

The club had their first major success in 1955, winning the league championship. Chelsea won several cup competitions during the 1960s and 1970s, but after that did not win another major title until 1997. The past decade has been the most successful period in Chelseas history, capped by winning consecutive Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, and reaching their first UEFA Champions League final in 2008.

Chelsea's home is the 42,055 capacity Stamford Bridge football stadium in Fulham, West London, where they have played since their establishment. The club are based just outside the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. In 2003, they were bought by Russian oil magnate Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea's traditional kit colours are royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks. The club crest has been changed several times in attempts to modernize or re-brand; the current crest, featuring a ceremonial lion holding a staff, is a modified version of one first adopted in the 1950s.The club has sustained the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football. Their average home gate for the 200809 season was 41,464, the fifth highest in the Premier League.

BRIEF HISTORY
Chelsea were founded on 14 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook), opposite the present-day main entrance to the ground on Fulham Road, and were elected to the Football League shortly afterwards. The club's early years saw little success; the closest they came to winning a major trophy was reaching the FA Cup final in 1915, where they lost to Sheffield United. Chelsea gained a reputation for signing big-name players and for being entertainers, but made little impact on the English game in the inter-war years.

Former Arsenal and England centre-forward Ted Drake became manager in 1952 and proceeded to modernise the club. He removed the club's Chelsea pensioner crest, improved the youth set-up and training regime, rebuilt the side, and led Chelsea to their first major trophy success the League championship in 195455. The following season saw UEFA create the European Champions' Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started.

          ]]>

The late 1970s and the 1980s were a turbulent period for Chelsea. An ambitious redevelopment of Stamford Bridge threatened the financial stability of the club, star players were sold and the team were relegated. Further problems were caused by a notorious hooligan element among the support, which was to plague the club throughout the decade. In 1982 Chelsea were, at the nadir of their fortunes, acquired by Ken Bates for the nominal sum of 1, although by now the Stamford Bridge freehold had been sold to property developers, meaning the club faced losing their home. On the pitch, the team had fared little better, coming close to relegation to the Third Division for the first time, but in 1983 manager John Neal put together an impressive new team for minimal outlay. Chelsea won the Second Division title in 198384 and established themselves in the top division, before being relegated again in 1988. The club bounced back immediately by winning the Second Division championship in 198889.

In June 2003, Bates sold Chelsea to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich for 140 million, completing what was then the biggest-ever sale of an English football club. Over 100 million was spent on new players, but Ranieri was unable to deliver any trophies, so he was replaced by Portuguese coach Jos Mourinho. Under Mourinho, Chelsea became the fifth English team to win back-to-back league championships since the Second World War (200405 and 200506), in addition to winning an FA Cup (2007) and two League Cups (2005 and 2007). In September 2007 Mourinho was replaced by Avram Grant, who led the club to their first UEFA Champions League final, in which they lost on penalties to Manchester United. Grant was sacked days later and succeeded by Luiz Felipe Scolari in July 2008.

Scolari spent only seven months in the job before being dismissed after a string of poor results. Russia coach Guus Hiddink was appointed caretaker manager until the end of the 200809 season. Chelsea's season ended with a 21 win over Everton in the FA Cup Final. Two days later former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was confirmed as Chelsea's new manager.

HOME GROUND
Chelsea have only ever had one home ground, Stamford Bridge, where they have played since foundation. It was officially opened on 28 April 1877. For the first 28 years of its existence it was used almost exclusively by the London Athletics Club as an arena for athletics meetings and not at all for football. In 1904 the ground was acquired by businessman Gus Mears and his brother Joseph, who had previously acquired additional land (formerly a large market garden) with the aim of staging football matches on the now 12.5 acre (51,000 m) site.

COLOURS AND KIT
Chelsea's kit is currently manufactured by Adidas, which is contracted to supply the club's kit from 2006 to 2011. Their previous kit manufacturer was Umbro. Chelsea's first shirt sponsor was Gulf Air, agreed midway through the 198384 season. Following that, the club were sponsored by Grange Farms, Bai Lin tea and Italian company Simod before a long-term deal was signed with computer manufacturer Commodore International in 1989; Amiga, an off-shoot of Commodore, also appeared on the shirts. Chelsea were subsequently sponsored by Coors beer (199597), Autoglass (19972001) and Emirates Airline (200105). Chelsea's current shirt sponsor is Samsung.

SUPPORTERS
Chelsea have the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football and regularly attract over 40,000 fans to Stamford Bridge; they were the fifth best-supported Premier League team in the 200708 season, with an average gate of 41,673. Chelsea's traditional fanbase comes from working-class parts of West London, such as Hammersmith and Battersea, from wealthier areas like Chelsea and Kensington, and from the Home Counties. In addition to the standard football chants, Chelsea fans sing songs like "Carefree", "Blue is the Colour", "We all follow the Chelsea" (to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory), "Ten Men Went to Mow", "Zigga Zagga", "Hello! Hello!" and the celebratory "Celery", with the latter often resulting in fans ritually throwing celery.

CURRENT PLACE IN PREMIER LEAGUE 2009-10 AND TICKETS
Chelsea with 30 points is at the top of the Premier League table. Chelsea have highest points in the league table. Till now Chelsea have played 12 Matches in Barclays Premier League 2009-10, out of which they won 10 matches and lose just 2.

Chelsea have a large fan base and have millions of fans all over the world and people love to watch their matches live into the play ground. Chelsea fans love to enjoy and experience the thrill during the Chelsea match live in the ground.
Offer Valid for United States Of America only!

NFL... A Brief History

The National Football League (NFL) is the highest level of professional American football. It was formed by eleven teams in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association, with the league changing its name to the National Football League in 1922. The league currently consists of thirty-two teams from the United States. The league is divided evenly into two conferences the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC), and each conference has four divisions that have four teams each. The NFL is organized as an unincorporated association of its 32 teams.[1][2] The NFL is by far the most attended domestic sports league in the world by average attendance per game, with 67,509 fans per game in the latest regular season (2009)

The regular season is a seventeen-week schedule during which each team plays sixteen games and has one bye week. The season currently starts on the Thursday night in the first full week of September (the Thursday after Labor Day) and runs weekly to late December or early January. At the end of each regular season, six teams from each conference play in the NFL playoffs, a twelve-team single-elimination tournament that culminates with the championship game, known as the Super Bowl. This game is held at a pre-selected site which is usually a city that hosts an NFL team.

Season structure

Since 2002, The NFL season features the following schedule:

a 4-game exhibition season (or preseason) running from early August to early September;
a 16-game, 17-week regular season running from September to December or early January; and
a 12-team Single-elimination playoff beginning in January, culminating in the Super Bowl in early February.

Traditionally, American high school football games are played on Friday, American college football games are played on Saturday, and most NFL games are played on Sunday. Because the NFL season is longer than the college football season, the NFL schedules Saturday games and Saturday playoff games outside the college football season. The ABC Television network added Monday Night Football in 1970, and Thursday night NFL games were added in the 1980s.

Regular season

A sample scheduling grid, with a single team's (the Browns) schedule highlighted. Under this hypothetical schedule, the Browns would play the teams in blue twice and the teams in yellow once, for a total of sixteen games.

Following the preseason, each of the thirty-two teams embark on a seventeen-week, sixteen-game schedule, with the extra week consisting of a bye to allow teams a rest sometime in the middle of the season (and also to increase television coverage). The regular season currently begins the Thursday evening after Labor Day with a primetime "Kickoff Game" (NBC currently holds broadcast rights for that game). According to the current scheduling structure, the earliest the season could begin is September 4 (as it was in the 2008 season), while the latest would be September 10 (as it was in the 2009 season, due to September 1 falling on a Tuesday). Each of the thirty-two teams' schedules are organized in the following way:

Each team plays the other three teams in their division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games).
Each team plays four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves the previous season, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games).

Playoffs

The NFL Playoffs. Each of the four division winners is seeded 14 based on their W-L-T records. The two Wild Card teams (labeled Wild Card 1 and 2) are seeded fifth and sixth (with the better of the two having seed 5) regardless of their records compared to the four division winners.

The season concludes with a twelve-team tournament used to determine the teams to play in the Super Bowl. The tournament brackets are made up of six teams from each of the league's two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), following the end of the 16-game regular season:

The four division champions from each conference (the team in each division with the best regular season won-lost-tied record), which are seeded one through four based on their regular season won-lost-tied record (tie-breaker rules may apply).
Two wild card qualifiers from each conference (those non-division champions with the conference's best record, i.e. the best won-lost-tied percentages, with a series of tie-breaking rules in place in the event that there are teams with the same number of wins and losses[4]), which are seeded five and six.

In each conference, the #3 and #6 seeded teams, and the #4 and #5 seeds, face each other during the first round of the playoffs, dubbed the Wild Card Playoffs (the league in recent years has also used the term Wild Card Weekend). The #1 and #2 seeds from each conference receive a bye in the first round, which entitles these teams to automatically advance to the second round, the Divisional Playoff games, to face the winning teams from the first round. In round two, the #1 seeded team always plays the lowest surviving seed in their conference. And in any given playoff game, whoever has the higher seed gets the home field advantage (i.e. the game is held at the higher seed's home field).

The two surviving teams from the Divisional Playoff games meet in Conference Championship games, with the winners of those contests going on to face one another in the Super Bowl in a game located at a neutral venue that is either indoors or in a warm-weather locale. The designated "home team" alternates year to year between the conferences. In Super Bowl XLIV, the AFC Champion was the "home" team.

Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl, the league's all-star game, has been traditionally held on the weekend after the Super Bowl. The game was played at various venues before being held at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii for 30 consecutive seasons from 1980 to 2009.

However, the 2010 Pro Bowl was played at Sun Life Stadium, the home stadium of the Miami Dolphins and host site of Super Bowl XLIV, on January 31, the first time ever that the Pro Bowl was played before the championship game. The 2011 and 2012 games will return to Honolulu.

Calendar

Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award

The Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award, or Super Bowl MVP, is an award presented annually to the most valuable player of the Super Bowl, the National Football League's (NFL) championship game. The winner is chosen by a fan vote during the game and by a panel of 16 American football writers and broadcasters who vote after the game. The media panel's ballots count for 80 percent of the vote tally, while the viewers' ballots make up the other 20 percent.[1] The game's viewing audience can vote on the Internet or by using cellular phones;[1] Super Bowl XXXV, held in 2001, was the first Super Bowl where fan voting was allowed.

Since the first Super Bowl was held in 1967, the MVP award has been given to 40 players. From 1967 to 1989, the Super Bowl MVP was presented by Sport magazine.[3] Bart Starr was the MVP of the first two Super Bowls. Since 1990, the award has been presented by the NFL.[3] At Super Bowl XXV, the league first awarded the Pete Rozelle Trophy, named after the former NFL commissioner, to the Super Bowl MVP.[4] Ottis Anderson was the first to win the trophy.[5] The most recent Super Bowl MVP was Drew Brees, who was named the most valuable player of Super Bowl XLIV, held on February 7, 2010.

Joe Montana is the only player to have won three Super Bowl MVP awards; three othersStarr, Terry Bradshaw, and Tom Bradyhave won the honor twice. The MVP has come from the winning team every year except 1971, when Dallas Cowboys linebacker Chuck Howley won the award despite the Cowboys' loss in Super Bowl V to the Baltimore Colts.[6] Harvey Martin and Randy White were named co-MVPs of Super Bowl XII, the only time co-MVPs have been chosen. Including the Super Bowl XII co-MVPs, seven Cowboys players have won Super Bowl MVP awards, the most of any NFL team. Quarterbacks have earned the honor 23 times in 44 games. Mark Rypien and Hines Ward are the only players born outside the United States to earn the Super Bowl MVP; they were born in Canada and South Korea, respectively.[8] Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen, and Desmond Howard are the only four players to have won the Super Bowl MVP and college football's Heisman Trophy.

I used to think that football and bodybuilding went hand in hand. Once I got more involved in bodybuilding and became more dedicated in football, I found out that I couldn't have been further from the truth.

Before I start my article, I would like to make it clear that during football season, football always comes before bodybuilding. High school football only last 3-4 years of your life and you can never get it back. For those of you who put bodybuilding before football during your football season, you should reconsider why you are even out on the field. You can still be successful with bodybuilding even if you prioritize it behind football. With a good schedule, you can easily have both. With that being said, lets start the article.

I used to think that football and bodybuilding went hand in hand. Once I got more involved in bodybuilding and became more dedicated in football, I found out that I couldn't have been further from the truth.

In football, you need quickness, speed, agility, strength, and power. In bodybuilding, you need none of those. This is why it is difficult to combine these "sports".

Both sports use different training methods and exercises. Bodybuilders train for muscular hypertrophy while football players train for strength, speed, and power.

Bringing Bodybuilding into your Football Schedule

It is easy for me to train like a bodybuilder during football season because the coaches usually don't make us train a certain way. They give us a recommended football workout and most people choose to follow that. Sometimes they make us workout after football practice, but that is not such a big deal because the workouts after football practice are short.

For those of you who are forced to use a specific workout, you might want to think about giving yourself some extra time so you can add some bodybuilding lifts to the end of your workout. If you don't want to do that, you could do a double split routine and have a separate bodybuilding workout.

          ]]>

Finding Time to Workout

It is hard to find time to workout during football season because of school, homework, practice, games, and parties. I have a pretty busy schedule after school, so I decided to workout before school. I feel this is a great time to train, especially during football season.

One major benefit is that you are up and awake by the first bell and you won't fall asleep during your first few classes. Another benefit is that it's spaced out from your practice or game long enough to give you many meals and rest before you next strenuous activity.

Eating During the School Day

Many of you were able to eat whenever you wanted during the summer and took advantage of this. Now that you are back in school, you have scheduled lunch times and periods. You don't get to cook up a chicken breast or whip out a sandwich whenever you want. The easiest way to eat consistently and avoid muscle catabolism is to ask your teachers if you can eat during their class.

Simply talk to them when you have time and explain your bodybuilding goals and why it is necessary for you to eat. Make sure to tell them that it's a healthy snack and not candy or pop. Tell them how a healthy snack can be beneficial to your body and help you learn better.

If none of your teachers let you eat during their class or when you needed to eat, those teachers said no, then you should eat between classes. Nuts, protein bars, or anything else you can get your hands on between classes will be beneficial.

Before football practice, I usually have half a sandwich and a cereal bar or something. School gets out at 2:50 and football practice starts at 3:15, so I have time to quickly eat a small meal and get suited up and ready to rumble.

If you can afford it, a protein bar and Gatorade would also be a great choice before football practice. Make sure to take something high on the glycemic index (GI) after football practice. This will give your body something to digest and use before going home and consuming your protein shake or meal.

For those of you who workout or plan to workout in the morning, you should make sure to go to bed early and give yourself enough rest. With a good nights sleep, you won't find yourself falling asleep during class as often and your mind will be more alert and ready to learn. If your house is busy at night and you can't fall asleep because people are making too much noise, you should get some earplugs.

If it's too bright outside and you are having trouble falling asleep, you should get a blindfold of some sort to put over your eyes when you sleep. If this doesn't do the trick, just slowly start to go to bed earlier and let your body adjust to the new sleep pattern. Making a schedule that you can follow day in and day out is essential for surviving football season with more muscle than you started with.

I hope this helped you learn how to survive football season while still staying dedicated to bodybuilding. If you have any questions about fitting something into your schedule feel free to email me. Writers do care about their readers!!!

The English premier league is at the brink of been handed over to the foreign investors who have been forking out big lump sum of cash to have a share of the most prestigious league in the world today. Statistics have proven that the English premier league is the most watched as well as most expensive in the world (Conn, 1997). The financial statements made by different clubs in Europe in the 21 century warrants attention from business analysts, financial institutions and economic professionals (Shackleton, 2000). The level of borrowings, debts, spending trends and investments quoted in public domain cannot be ignored at all cost. The glaring question is whether the investors have the clubs legacy at heart or their greedy and malicious nature will in the long run leave the face of English premier leagues dented and impoverished.

Some of the notable investment in the recent times include take over of Chelsea by a Russian billionaire, the Manchester united controversy revolving around the investment by the American family, Manchester city by Arab billionaires, the Liverpool controversy and also Blackburn rovers been snatched away from former ardent supporter to an Indian investor.

The clubs revenues have increased over time and the total revenue accrued by the end of 2010 went through the roofs to hit a 2 billion pound mark. The rise of these revenues has raised eyebrows and investors are in a gold rush to leap from this lucrative business. Hence foreigners have been investing very heavily on the English premier league (Glen, 2009).

Because of the investment factor in the English premier the private owners having been capitalizing on the return to capital. The ticket selling is one of the ways which the investors are capitalizing on to get the revenues. In this case the tickets of games have skyrocketed and the funs have to dig deep in their pockets to enjoy leisure of watching football. This has affected the middle class who used to enjoy watching football without budget constraint. Some of the fans who were watching almost all the games played by their clubs at home ground stadium have slashed the times they would appear for live football watching (Baily, 2007).

          ]]>

As indicated by Heinemann (2010), funs have been losing touch with their clubs because the management by the virtue of profit making has taken full control of everything. The funs are no longer the issue when dealing with critical matters like transfers and signing of players. The recent takeover of Manchester untied by glazier family is case in point whereby the selling of former club striker Carlos Tevez had faced mounting opposition from the funs but the club went ahead with the transfer.

After the taking over of Manchester united in 2007 the club has recorded tremendous success with three premier league titles as well a champion league title in a span of 3 years, Chelsea taking over yielded immediate results by wining 3 premier league titles as well as one a carling cup and 2 FA cups since 2005. Unfortunately this has not been the case with Blackburn rovers and Liverpool because their cup thirst is yet to be quenched (Barthold, 2009).

The worth of these investments leaves a lot to be desired the trend has assumed a euphoric drive which might not augur well with business. Manchester united had been recuperating from debts by the time foreign investor was steeping in but has effectively covered the gap. Chelsea was also under siege of debts and poor condition but the arrival of Russian billionaire salvaged the situation. However the risks of investments may be greater than the benefit it might bring forth to the investor (Deloitte, 2008).

Like any form of business football is not insulated from challenges which are caused by things like inflation, recession, and bad seasons. Since football has been commercialized, the risks and benefits must be forthcoming and they remain paramount to thriving and sustainability of business. In this case, it is paramount to gauge the future of football in its present trend of takeovers. Some clubs have benefited from the takeovers whereas others are yet to experience the benefits from foreign investors.

1.1Problem statement

The developments in the English premier league leave a lot to be desired and there have been takeovers from foreign investor. Since the Chelsea football club went in hands of the Russian billionaires there have been flood gate of interests from the foreign investors. In the last five years, they have taken control of the nine top 20 premier league clubs and more so it is yet to be verified whether they will be coming for more share in this prestigious premier league. the most notable takeovers in the recent years are: Manchester city by the Arab investors, Manchester united by united states glazer family, Liverpool by Gillett and hack and then another transfer in 2010, Chelsea by the Russian billionaire and most recently the Blackburn rovers by an Indian investor( Budd & Levermore 2010).

The takeovers have raised eyebrows from the financial analysts and economists and they often try to come to terms with this kind of wild takeovers. The often asked question is the future of this business and its impact to the English premier league. Since it seems as if the business is at the boom it is likely that it might as well bust and the repercussion might not be well premeditated.

This research seek to find out the impact of the foreign investments on the English premier league focusing on the takeovers of Chelsea, Manchester united, Liverpool and Blackburn rovers. The epicenter of the research would be the effects of commercialization of football to the English premier league as well as the future of the premier league.

1.2Purpose of the research

The purpose of this research is examining the impact of the foreign investment on English premier league clubs. Since the trend of taking over of clubs in the English premier has increased over the years, the research will guide me to conclude whether the sweeping euphoria is for the good or bad. This will help me to establish whether football in England has turned to be more of a business rather than enjoyment.

The research also helps to evaluate how the foreign factor has been affecting the relationships of the club and their funs and also give account of how helpful or damaging these takeovers have turned to be on the communities. In this case the research will be geared to reveal whether the investors have sacrificed the fans at the expense of the profit making motives. In addition, it will help to gauge how the communities around the clubs have been benefiting either through direct employment or direct funding to the community events.

The group stage concluded on Wednesday Dec 10th night. The eight teams who finished in third place in their respective groups have advanced to the knockout stage, which begins in February of 2009 with 32 participants. Joining FC Zenit St. Petersburg as qualifiers are FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Werder Bremen, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Olympique de Marseille, Aalborg BK, ACF Fiorentina, and FC Dynamo Kyiv. The top two teams in each group are still in contention for Champions League berths, and therefore not yet assured of spots in the UEFA Cup.

The Champions League takes precedence among the two events, and therefore clubs that qualify for that more prestigious tournament do not participate in the UEFA Cup. Fiorentina, which reached the UEFA Cup semifinals last season, defeated FC Steaua Bucuresti on Wednesday to book its place in the knockout round. Werder Bremen, meanwhile, scored a 2-1 home win over Inter Milan to secure third place in its group and qualify for the UEFA Cup. It's a consolation prize for Werder Bremen, which missed out on qualifying for Champions League action. We're disappointed in the Champions League this year but, with a bit of luck, in the end we made the best of a bad situation, said Werder Bremen's Torsten Frings in a statement on the club's official website. In spite of everything, I am happy that we will continue to play internationally next year. FC Zenit St. Petersburg, which overcame Rangers FC in Manchester to hoist the most recent UEFA Cup trophy, has a chance to equal the accomplishment of Sevilla FC by winning back-to-back UEFA Cup championships. Sevilla FC captured repeat titles in 2006 and 2007 and could soon be competing in another knockout stage yet again.

With the knockout stage still two months away, it has already been a long and grueling road to the UEFA Cup for the competitors. Prior to the group stage, UEFA Cup hopefuls endured two qualifying rounds, the first of which took place in July and the second of which was held in August. Advancing teams progressed to first-round play held in September and October. The all-important group play, which concludes next week, consists of eight pods, all of which contain five teams. Next season, however, the format will be changed so that there are 12 groups, each comprised of four teams. After 16 teams advance out of February's opening knockout stage, the second round will take place in mid-March.

The quarterfinals will be held in mid-April, and the semifinals will be featured in late April and early May. The upcoming UEFA Cup Final will take center stage on May 20, 2009 and will be hosted in Istanbul's Sukru Saracolou Stadium. Turkey's largest city also showcased another big European soccer event when the 2005 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool FC and AC Milan was contested in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Istanbul will be the 12th city to host the UEFA Cup final since the tournament switched to a new format for the 1997-98 season.

For the new season, the UEFA Cup is now known as the UEFA Europa League. It is the second competition organized by ruling European football authorities in terms of glamour and importance, after the Champions League. However, many critics consider it to be very far behind in the two areas and are cynical of the change in name and format of the tournament by the organizers. They believe that the rebranding will not amount to anything in the end and that interest by fans, media and the clubs will continue to be lukewarm at best.

They could not be more wrong if one were to consider a few factors that accompany the change. The name as UEFA Europa League already makes a subliminal difference in terms of branding appeal and power. It gives a better idea of what the competition is about. Calling it a league gives it a considerably catchier ring than a tournament that is simply named a Cup for UEFA.

In terms of the number of clubs taking part in the whole event, there is also an improvement over previous editions. There will be over 190 clubs who would have been in the tournament at one stage or another at the end of it. There are some who have said that the number is too excessive. But they have failed to recognize the fact that giving more teams a taste of European action can only help to promote greater participation in the future. It will help to raise the profile of the Europa League with other clubs who might normally not even have a chance of playing against other quality European football teams.

A few quarters have also criticized the allowance of teams eliminated from the Champions League to join the UEFA Europa League at different stages. According to these observers, they claim that such moves demean the competition as a whole and is the main reason why many view it as a second rate tournament, one that is full of unwanted clubs. It might have a hint of that, but the reality is that these clubs do add to the overall quality of the event. Teams that have previously qualified for the Champions League were able to do so because of their quality. From past history, the likes of AC Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea and even Real Madrid could now grace the competition. Their presence would boost interest and coverage of the Europa League at one point or another.

Therefore, to say that the Europa League will be no different from its predecessor the UEFA Cup would be very wrong. While some of the changes might seem contradictory to claims by UEFA President Michel Platini of making the competition stronger, on closer inspection, they do fulfill such an ambition. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say. The best way to find out will be when the season concludes when the final will be held in May 2010.
